First I was introduced to was Sweeney Todd, which remains one of my favorite musicals of all time at around number 3. First I saw live was Into The Woods with Carolee Carmello as The Witch as a production from my city's regional theater, and it remains my favorite show I've seen there, closely followed by West Side Story. Later I played Anthony in Sweeney Todd and it's literally been my entire personality since. Definitely my favorite role I've ever played.
Hi Aeron. Are you aware that The Shed is on rollers and is able to convert to a street performance venue? This might explain why they offer the refreshments closer to the entry foyer. Did you notice how breezy Hudson Yards is compared to most of the city? The skyscrapers there were designed to deflect wind and that causes a wind tunnel effect between them.
Thanks so much! Incredible timing on this post. I am going to see Here We Are and Merrily today! Appreciate the advice on the Shed as it’s not a venue I have been to before. No merch? First saw Into the Woods. Can’t wait to see the remainder of your recent NYC (and vicinity) trip.
My ticket is for next month my first time at the shed. Thanks for the description of the venue. My first Sondheim was the original production of company in 1971
First Sondheim show I was introduced to was Into the Woods, thanks to the Disney movie version. My favourite Sondheim show (and the only one I saw live) is the iconic Sweeney Todd. Honestly, I can't even go to the London Dungeon without humming "Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd..."
My first Sondheim was Sweeney Todd from the movie, and I’ve seen the movie of Into The Woods. Still never seen a Sondheim live, I really hope Sweeney transfers over to the West End!!
The person next to me did not make it back from the interval in time😶 They didn't allow late admissions because of how the entrances were used, so I'm glad I decided to message my friends about the show instead of going anywhere.

I can't believe Mickey Jo panned HERE WE ARE. I just saw it tonight (Jan 12, 2024) & loved it. I left my two cents about it on his UA-cam review.

There is merch now, however when we were there it was before it had arrived. Mickey has done a short/reel that showcases the merch 😁
First live full Sondheim was in to the woods first encounter with lyric was doing west side story at school!

Arrive early. Entrance is not well marked.
Well that was the back entrance but so glad you made it to that show ! ❤️
Cannot wait to see the show later this month.

Or maybe they didn’t enjoy it and just left…
I think Sweeney was my first major exposure
You are so much better without the interruptions
