- Here's the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels second Oshkosh performance, on Saturday, 29 July 2017. The team flew full shows once on Friday and once on Saturday. Dazzling as always in their glossy blue F/A-18s with yellow trim. And, yes, we used ambient audio to capture the jet sounds wherever possible, but in some scenes, music from the PA system was audible -- music for which we do not own the rights. And that can constitute infringement, so we have no choice but to delete that audio and replace it with royalty free music. Likewise for slow motion scenes -- the audio wouldn't match the video anyway. There are very real legal and technical reasons for what we do with the soundtracks on our videos. This video was made with our go-to Sony FDR-AX53 video camera, at 120 frames per second. Have you subscribed to the Airailimages Channel on UA-cam? UNBELIEVABLE. This video brought moisture in my eyes. I would have loved to be at this air show. I can't wait to show this video to my 4 year old grandson. He is going to grin from ear to ear. I love the blue angles. Always put on a great show. I used to go to the Oshkosh air show with my dad all the time. We would camp in one of the farmers fields. Was lucky enough to see the Concorde fly in there. I don't believe it was able to land though. The strip wasn't long enough. That was right before they retired it. Thanks for the video. Brings back some good memories

I saw the Blue Angels perform way back, the only year that they used the F-4 Phantoms and they were fabulous. Great video!
I saw them when they were flying the Phantoms as well. Stationed in Pensacola in 1972.
The next time I saw them they were flying the A-4 Skyhawk, an older aircraft that first flew during the 50's.
The most recent time was in San Diego just before I retired from the Submarine Force. By that time they were flying the F-18's. Good to see them flying something more contemporary.
One hell of a show, and a testament to the skill of Navy pilots. Imagine trying to land on a pitching and moving runway in the dark with little lighting to show you where you are in relation to the "runway".
I saw The Blues a few years back at MacDill AFB , Fl . I won't forget it .The narrator on the PA said , " Now demonstrating the low speed capabilities of the F-18 Hornet " and this BA came down out of the sky , about 5 ' off the tarmac , nose up 45° @ 35 mph and was saluting the crowd ! , that was BAD ASS . Everybody knows their fast , but to see one cruise by going just a little faster than you can run ? , that was something else . Then there was Fat Albert with the JATO , I swear he only needed a 100' of runway to get airborne ! THE BLUE ANGELS ARE THE BEST

I saw a performance of theirs many years back at Mt. Comfort airport (KMQJ) and from my vantage point I felt as if I could (almost) reach up and touch them as they flew by. It was AWESOME and I still get chills when I see them perform - both in person and via the media. Thanks for presenting this to all of us.

My Dad (R.I.P. Papa) was a Top Gun pilot, I have great respect for pilots of this caliber no matter what branch of the military. I think we sometimes forget how incredibly dangerous their job (though they love it) is. My only disparagement- they never perform anywhere close to me (Colorado) so I never have the privilege of witnessing these spectacular events!

Excellent the best video you have some great camera skills.The blue angels come to Long Island every year I watch them take off.The beach is so crowded I don't even go so we go to the little airport they take off from.They do a few things for the people that watch take offs 🦋

In 1974, when they were flying the A4 Skyhawks, my wife, who happened to be a Marine as well, had access to one of the hangars. We were able to get on the roof and I'll tell you, at that height, we were almost able to touch the landing gear. I didn't have a movie camera (video cams hadn't been invented yet for home use LOL) but I did get some really great close-up 35mm slides of them. I also still attend their shows whenever they come to Texas where we finally settled down. GySgt Michael Burke, USMC (Ret)

My opinion of the Blue Angles will never change, Love them, F-18 is my fave fighter, But as far as formation flight goes, I prefer my Canadian Snowbirds...if the snowbirds go anywhere, they all fly in formation, from show to show, or to practice or home...I notice the blue angles get timid at times in very close formations....

awesome video, went to their show last year also on Saturday. Going back to Oshkosh again this year with the Sony FDR-AX53. The camera I bought was a floor model and they didn't give me a manual with it(didn't know that at the time I bought it.) Any ways the problem im having is when holding the camera the lens wants to float around even worst is when i'm zooming on something. I'm concerned about going to the EAA and getting terrible images because the lens is floating around. If you have any suggestions I would appreciated it. Thanks Jeff
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you enjoy your FDR-AX53 as much as I do. You may want to do an online search for "Sony FDR-AX53 manual". I think you will find that the Sony website has the manual available as a pdf. file download. Also, you may want to have the latest firmware update installed in your camera. I think the newest is 1.02; one of your camera's menu screens should show what version you have now. It is simple to install. Have you gone into the Camera/Mic dialog box on the menu screen to set a Steadyshot mode? This is what I do to keep things so steady -- that is the beauty of that floating lens. When Steady shot is engaged (there are several modes to select from) it really damps out unwanted camera movement. One potential downside -- all that continuous lens movement, as it compensates for camera movement, can use up a battery quickly. I carry several batteries. Everybody has their own needs and preferences for video file sizes. I typically shoot HD1080 at 120 fps. Hope you have a great time with your camera at Oshkosh this year.

I miss seeing these guys perform at the Big Flats NY airport. It has been years since we have had any big airshows in our area. I wonder if these guys have ever accidentally traded paint with some of those close aerial tricks. That would be a wake up call for sure! Too bad the Navy never got the F22 as a carrier plane and these guys were piloting those. Imagine the aerobatics they would perform. Yeah I know F22 is too big for a carrier..but I did look up the specs of the old F14 Tomcat and while the Tomcat had swing wings to fit more on the ship. The two airplanes are very similar in size to one another...I would easily give up 6 super hornets or half dozen new F35 for a fleet of F22 on our carriers...production would of never been halted then...well just my opinion and no its never going to happen.

At 0:41 you can see blue angle number 6. That was the number of the plane assigned to Jack cuss. The blue angels pilot that died during training. Was he still alive at that time?
