I went with Porter Cable since their tools seem to be a little better value when it comes to performance verse's price , and I already had their drills with batteries too which was another factor in my decision .
Actually I'm a cabinet maker and most of the tools I use are fixed base machinery. I use a lot more screws than nails and staples, so going with the Porter Cable say over Dewalt, Makita, or Milwaukee is Ok for me ! I also have a PC cordless drill and driver set that has held up well and was about half the cost of my cordless Makita drill set !
Joe Framer I own both Porter Cable 16g and 18g cordless nailers and use them non-stop. To my surprise they exceeded my expectations. With that said this is coming from a diehard dewalt guy.
Does the motor sound like its grinding when its slowing down and you have it tilted left or right? I couldnt hear because you were talking.. I've exchanged 2 because they have been making a grinding / rubbing noise while the motor spins down
Be a fantastic little nailer if it didn't have the two-bit magazine. I bought one of these very soon after they came out and took it back within 90 days. I used it to base the stairwell of a two story commercial building and soon after I started that job it began to break the strips of pins and jam again and again! Took that one back and exchanged it for another. This one is doing the same thing. Fire maybe 6 or 8 pins and jamb again and again. Very frustrating!
I'm trying to find out why the lights flashing in the nail gun and shooting had the 20-volt 18 gauge d 860 for over a year now and now it's starting to not shoot that's what I'm looking for how to fix that not problem can you give me a web page that will help me with that thank you very much
Purchased one today and my contact tripp is very loose so its hard to place the brad ecactly where you want it. Is that how's its made or is mine defective?
How would you rate this against a gas powered brad nailer? I've watched both your videos and currently have a Hitachi gas bradder, just wondering if this is an upgrade or just a fuel savings? Is there any performance gain other than faster shooting? I can never feel the nail contact the stud when working with gas nailers, with pneumatic you can hear and feel the nail drive into the stud when you're working on base or case.
WorkshopAddict thanks for the info. I'll probably order this gun then seeing as its on sale in Canada. Do you trust the flywheel tech over the sealed cylinder?
I don't have experience with the 16g unit yet. I thought it wasn't bad at all but the continuous "winding" could get loud and annoying with prolonged uses.
I saw those audio questions, thanks for the quick update that lets everyone know the sound of this nailer. Excellent reviews...
Who thought he was going to nail his finger explaining how bump fire works?

Danny H. Hopefully your a homeowner and only use those tools occasionally

Mine seems to have trouble sinking 2" Brad's constantly
Same issue, even through mdf into doug fir. Seems to do 1 1/2'' nails fine though.
Look everywhere on what to do when your dcn680 has no nail stuck and it's not firing. There is a right light blinking. What should i do?

Would you pick this over pneumatic? Always been a pneumatic nailer guy but thinking of getting one for my next Reno job.
Mr. B yes absolutely
Is there a delay in the time that you push down on the tip to when you press to fire button? It seems like you have to wait 1 second or so then fire?
Luc Funicelli no
thanks got my answer 6 days after this video when i bought it, love this thing

Mr. B I am not a fan of gas with the progressing battery technology. Gas guns are great for fast applications like framing, etc.

Andy....that sounds much louder then the 16g ????
