Not all nursing homes. When my MIL had to have round the clock care I visited many nursing homes and found a great one. The food was good, the medical staff was great, they had weekly excursions, game nights, followed sports and had regular game days. There were so many activities that they could stay busy non stop if they so chose. If a resident was a trouble maker they were evicted.
I walked into a nursing home on a humid 80° day, and before the door was closed behind me, an old woman screamed from somewhere within the bowels of the roasting, putrid building "I feel that draft, CLOSE THAT DOOR, it's FREEZING!" 😂
I used to visit my grandma in the convalescent home when I was 11 years old, and we would often walk in on my grandma and her roommate using their canes as a dueling sword fight. Thankfully, it was all in slow motion 😂 Bless their fiesty hearts ❤
Speaking as a moderately functional 75 year old, without a biological family, it's actually sadder than that. No body gives a "F" at this age. Regardless to the, "Oh, Grandma is so cute. BS." The nurses won't admit it, but they only care for their paychecks; behind closed doors, strangers don't care. And your own family doesn't care, unless you have a large inheritance to leave behind. American society (in secret) treats it's elderly like shyt. 👍🏿👍🏿 Ask me if I'm bitter... HOHOHO 😮😢
I know the year is young but this is by far the best thing I have seen on UA-cam all year and I doubt I will see anything better. True fact though - old age does not neccessarily mean mellowing out. I have lived at a couple 55 and over type places - live at one now - and we have alteractions all the time - not just that, people can't stay out of the sack with each other.

I'm proud to say I had a gran like her. She didn't take any nonsense and kept everyone's mouth shut Grandad would just hide behind his newspaper and say "aye Mary" they'd be ok few mins later as all relationships should be, 58yrs married and lived till 85. She was bombed by Germany and flew under the bed with the blast and after lived with German ppl in a caravan during the exodus to outside cities. I keep her memories alive and her words. Shared a few pints with granda down the pub as well.. until passing in 8yrs ago and gran 7yrs now. 😢
