Him saying “I want to be choosing things” is sooo powerful when taking about addictions. It’s how I constantly am striving in my consumption of media. I want to choose it and when it becomes a compulsion, I know I need to step back and reassess.
@@MayimBialikYes Two very intelligent and very insightful people. Mayim, thank you so much for you and Josh. I could listen to you both have a conversation all day. Have a fantastic day 😊❤
I am deeply impressed by Josh Radnor. These insights, the honesty to talk about all those private things despite the obvious struggle to have no privacy. Amazing, how much more there is than this Ted Mosby character. I am going to watch his movies. ☺️ And I really enjoyed the way Mayim and Josh talked, kind of like old friends.
Despite having watched and enjoyed the whole HIMYM series, I never knew anything about Josh. What a fascinating, deep, grounded, intelligent (EQ & IQ) and sweet guy he is. Thank you for having him!
The writers adopted facets of each main actor's personality and incorporated them into their characters. This includes Neil Patrick Harris' skills with magic, Jason Segel's passion for songwriting, Alyson Hannigan's absent-mindedness while pregnant, and Josh Radnor's intellectualism.
Jonathan's contributions always blow me away. He is a thorough thinker like few people I have ever known. And, of course, Mayim is both brilliant and an astonishing communicator. The alchemy of this podcast is such a gift to us grateful listeners.
It took me two days to finish the episode. This is not what I expected, it's better. The topics, the way the three of interact, and Josh's calm voice and kind attitude were really, really a delight to listen to. Two days because I needed time to process the information and really connect with the message.
An alchemist in true form. I've found myself attached to many shows I can't seem to watch anymore for various reasons. HIMYM was great, but I think after certain shifts in our lives, the stories hit differently. New perspectives in our growth make what once worked for us before no(t)* work for us now. I appreciate being able to see the human behind the character and to know he is still gracing this world with his creativity in a way that feels more authentic to him. It benefits us all when people have this kind of understanding of themselves. Acknowledgment, learning, and growing in this life to have an enjoyable experience and bring into the world our light helps us all grow through the concrete. Thank you both for sharing your journeys.
"Here's a hard question, is that true?" Serving forth the compelling life question with grace and curiosity. You've all moved the needle of consciousness with this entire conversation. Thank you.
It was honestly such a simple moment compared to the other topics they discussed (with some of the big words I had to Google lol) but wow it was IMPACTFUL.
It's so great to hear these people in these different capacities, beyond acting.. It's great to see them flourish in them and to hear their takes on things from a different angle.. : )
So. Many. Fascinating. Things. Seriously, it amazes me that he’s gone from just being Ted on HIMYM to being an inspiration to many on our journeys 🤷🙏💜 thanks so much! Was super happy to see this, hope you all had a great time!
I related so hard to both your feelings towards drinking now. And same with all the other substance understandings. Now Josh is describing birth and death protected by DMT trips. This is a devastatingly good podcast. Thanks always Mayim and hubby.
I just found this episode randomly on UA-cam and it was one of the greatest podcasts I've listened ever. Really enlightening. Loved! Definely binging a few extra through the week.
Such interesting conversation! To be honest Josh, I actually have a similar experience as what you said about the anxious and attacher just hiding an anxious one underneath. It spoke to me so much when you mentioned that because it is so difficult to find a balance between the two. And thank you for being open about therapy and it’s impact on our attachment styles. So many people feel like they are broken but they are not: therapy really helps understanding that. Thank you for sharing!

I think this is my favorite episode. Sooooo much gold. I have done a lot of therapeutic ketamine and mushrooms and I love the thought of "What do I bring down from the mountain?"
Fantastic specificity in the answers [given by Josh] that indicate a hard-earned self awareness coupled with an open minded nature. He doesn't [appear to] think he has or will ever entirely have "all the answers." Nice interview, too [Mayim]!
I never knew he has such a brilliant mind. I admire how self-aware, grounded, open minded, & kind he seems to be. I love when people understand that they don't/can never have all of the answers, while being open & excited to learn as much as possible. Being so open to life (& death!) is such a breath of fresh air in comparison to people who are closed off, fearful, & never want to experience or learn anything new & different. Really enjoyed this episode.

I LOVED this episode! These are all topics that are close to my heart. Side note - Mayim! you are so pretty, whenever you get smiley about something you just radiate beauty
i love finding people that think the way i do or did and live through similar experiences that i did and talk about it so openly! also it was great to get to know josh as a spiritual person besides the fame.
I had a horrible experience with Ayahuasca. Only did it once, but would never do it again. I suffered over 6 hours of hell. I struggled to breath, and fought with dual thoughts and feelings of wanting to die and having to make it through for my children, afraid to leave them. We were asked to wear white, and mist of my clothes were soiled, the host had us all outside in weather that dipped down into the high 50s with kittle to no blanket! It was literally a fight for my life. I had recently lost my fiance to kidney failure, so was looking to be healed of heavy intense grief, but instead got a living nightmare. Needless to say I did not stay for a second evening of that. A few weeks later tried a mushroom instead with the same goal to connect or find peace, but again the same reaction but milder. Everyone I know loves you and loved the show with you there. You have lots of fans who love your work, your energy, your personality and wit. You are lovely and amazing (it's from a movie, but it fits here) I'm writing because the enneagram number sounds like me, self-critical to distraction, and I want you to have the feedback Your fans appreciate you a lot, I'm one of 'em. Btw, you're doing a wonderful job with this format too. I've seen a few others (male hosts). You make it much more interesting and fun. Your questions are more relevant. Sorry to compare, but since the superego is so ingrained in us, (I'm a baby boomer, my parents wouldn't give me any praise or validation even if someone put a gun to their heads.) I wanted to let you know. Blessings to you.
My best friend just got me in to this podcast she’s a massive massive mayim. Fan I’ve only listened to 3 episodes so far but I’m already in love with mayim too can’t wait to binge all episodes ❤️
I think the thing with money is that having it can solve a lot of problems that are on the lower tiers of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Then the upper tiers, the intrinsic needs, become more into focus. But I know when I am struggling with both rent AND an existential crisis of being, that’s much more weighty than if I were just going through the existential crisis.
I've been poor and well-off both - there are different problems but I'd choose being well-off any day. Wealthy people can cry about thousand things but almost nothing is worse than not knowing if you have enough resources to feed yourself and your family before the next income.
That should be the argument that convinced me that money, fame or status don't bring any happiness. Happiness isn't something you put inside you. It's already there!
I love this so much, I sing your song at the stupidest moments and find myself wondering what you're doing at that moment....just FYI I had an NDE on DEC 18 and so am always looking for podcasts on that! Just so appreciate you and Jonathon
Ted was absolutely many people in my generation’s first interaction with parasocial relationships. Before we really had the language for what was happening, that show was designed to make him our tv boyfriend. I’m not even caffeinated yet on a Tuesday morning and y’all got me out here confronting my own weird developmental behavior. We need more candid discussion about the real people that exist inside of celebrity. Even just observing Josh have a conversation outside of the character Ted made some connections for me that I’m a little embarrassed are only just now happening at 32. While there absolutely should be more consumer awareness about that dynamic and its effects, that show did what it was designed to do.
If I have an addiction it would be distracting myself from thinking too much. Im trying so hard to get to the end of it as fast as I can because its so miserable to live.
Absolutely love this. All of this. Thank you for creating this space and holding these conversations. What was the number you and Josh mentioned about being a 3 or 4?
Forget the fame I'd just like to be wealthy as opposed to being too poor to pay my bills or do anything. It's always people with money that say money doesn't bring you happiness which is true but I don't expect to get happy from having lots of money I expect to be able to do more things that I choose and that would make me happy plus taking away that whole fear of not having enough money for food, bills, rent. Money in itself won't bring happiness but it's what you do with it and how you use it that can. Having choices in your life to do what brings you joy and meaning as opposed to being a wage slave and not having much time to pursue what interests you.
It feels like my favourive cartoon characters are talking about my favourite topics. Strange and great :) And it is surprising that I loved HIMYM, but I like Josh much more than I liked Ted.
I love that both Mayim and Josh are not only great actors, but also extremely intelligent and curious people❤

I enjoyed every second of this episode! This is a great conversation! Love your podcast, Mayim ❤️🧠
Glad you enjoyed the episode! Thanks for sharing and for being here 🫶🧠
Ted was absolutely many people in my generation’s first interaction with parasocial relationships.
Kids, that's how Ted Mosby and Amy Farah Fowler Cooper met. What a lovely show. And btw, Ted's happiness is Robin and not money.
I look forward to your episodes each week! Such of wealth of information! Love it ❤❤❤
