What a great trombone section. I could close my eyes and tell you which one is soloing. Each one has a distinct inventiveness to his solos...........then there's Bill, too.
I can't believe 13 deaf people posted thumbs down to this tight swinging band with great Trombone improvisation HIGHLIGHTED by the incomporable BiLL WATROUS! Loved listening to this band!
Steve, would you care to share some of those groups, I am a huge fan Yoko Kanno & The Seatbelts - is/has there always been a big band movement in Japan? I discovered some of the excellent musicians of The Seatbelts (シートベルツ, Shītoberutsu, also known as Seat Belts or SEATBELTS), a big band formed around Yoko Kanno to play music for a series 'Cowboy Bebop'. I highly recommend to check out The Seatbelts - Souvenir of Tokyo Tour (2001). This I think was Hard Bop.
@@draeke8080, please forgive me for blowing my own horn here. I've had a big band in Tokyo for 12 years. Please check it out if you like. ua-cam.com/video/K8S5wsOWIM8/v-deo.html
@@TokyoBigBand Absolutely, thanks for the tip, I'd like to learn a lot more about the jazz scene over there, I've seen a lot of very talented musicians that have got the idea right as well as the technical skills to back it up, looking forward to seeing some of your arrangements
There is an economy to the way Bill Watrous plays that is just amazing. No lost motion, nothing extra, just right. All these players are top notch. And the little bass bone player has a nice fat sound, too.
I just listened again to part 1. It looks like this was recorded before the other, even though it has a later date. Everyone blows better, but what else are you gonna do when playing with Bill!?! Ha! Great! Thanks

Agreed! Awesome band!

The Trombonist that played right before Bill Watrous is the real deal. What is his name?
His name is YUZO KATAOKA !
who is one of the top players in japan.
It's Yuzo Kataoka, without a doubt. Uchibori-san is the one who is conducting.
i'm sorry. you are right. My mistake.
@@ぱかお-i8k Yes, he is amazing!
Is it just me or does everyone sound flat as hell?
That drummer is...tremendous.
The thumbs down can only be for Watrous's hairstyle.....
Bill used to refer to that as his "Prince Violent" haircut.
does anyone know where I can find this arrangement or at least the trombone part because I'm to lazy to transcribe this

Let the trombone girl performing her chorus, shit!
Насколько тактично по отношению к другим,безусловно блестящим тромбонистам проявляет себя Великий Билл!
The quick drum roll between 0:45 and 0:46 is so clean
very good soloists!! Bravo. Bill great as usual.

And I like the last glisses at the end. Right from Tuttie's Trombones!! Excellent!
This is a top band, I discovered lots of groups from Japan lately, all world class.

Почему не указали имена тромбонистов?
I returned to Pogo, time for you to return broo.. 🎉
Damn. That section sounds good
Very nice work! Did any of those soloists play past third position?
in high registers, you dont really need to. it also just makes it hard to play that fast
Yeah, the second soloist did at the end when they were trading 4s
Is thatvguy smoking a joint lol
Great!!
Génial ! Super section de trombones et super improvisateurs. Bill is the best !
The 3rd alto is a Conn Lady Face 6M?
nice !

Yes yes yes!!!! They all sounded amazing, and I love how every time Bill just one upped them!

Chévere,padrísimo,Ok
Very .Nice
Why does bill watrous's sound sounds so different from others
Look at how close Watrous is to the mic. Different mic.
Watrous has his own unique sound. Watrous play a Bach trombone, Kataoka is playing a King.
RMTrombone is it a tenor trombone?
Bach LT16M Bill Watrous Model Stradivarius Tenor Trombone
Also mouthpiece and bore and bell size s could make a difference
Because he’s Bill
