    1. I'm definitely a quieter director. I like cutting at the beat of the song and I've seen other directors take too much time to explain stuff and it messes up the flow. And I also like to see what the cam ops come up with and where they need improvement. They should all train and becime good enough to know what they should be doing.
    2. I like the labels below the buttons. Nice switcher.
    3. Some people use the Program keys but I don't. Definitely seems riskier.

      In your point #3 you say cutting on program seems risky, why? If you look at your monitor wall and the camera is “proper” there, previewing it doesn’t make it better.

      @@mikecumbo7531 Yeah, some people are ok doing it that way. For me, I'd rather have a shot previewed and press Cut when ready. Pressing the program buttons directly is all or nothing.

    I used to work in an editorial and financial agency in Milan in 2019 and when i saw the directors using this machinery i was always fascinated by how it worked and how they worked. I used to be an editor for CNBC (Class editori CNBC) and I only happened to make a contribuition for the milan subways once and even now it would be complicated for me to replicate it. BTW cool video, I am so happy to come back after the COVID 19 BS to work in SKY and I'll be doing the Operator Platform Control. That's gonna be a new experience and also a new challenge, do you guys have any advice on how I can prepare before June 17th?

    Why avoid the auto for the T bar?

    • @westsideproduction
      @westsideproduction  4 місяці тому +1

      I tell directors to only use the T bar because the auto button is set to a rate that you have to change within the menu. Music requires a "feel" not every crossfade should be 15 frames, etc.

      @@westsideproduction makes sense. Engineering on a Imagine Dragons and Pink show and the director said the same thing

      @@robertacevedo5601 Yep, I"m 100% with that for music. I think if you are directing sports it makes sense to set your frames and just use auto. But, also, to each their own! Use what works for you.

    cool guys, and im agree when you see the preview and then take with cut or disolve on music program. but you cannot do that if we are catching a moment.. we will missed the moment actually live moment. for me as a director for indonesia independence day for three years from indonesia 76th, 77th, 78th, and now preparing indonesia independence day 79th live show im using the pgm button to directly take because i have to catch the moment very soon : )

    Why not black in 1? It's so far away in 10.

    • @westsideproduction
      @westsideproduction  7 місяців тому

      We put cam 1 on button 1, I've noticed when black is on 1 more often black is accidentally taken live. This is just my experience, I know that some dir/TD like it on #1, I know that some despise it at #1.
