It's wrong to say Manufacturing has stagnated in India. As a percentage of GDP it has remained the same despite lack of base or lack of culture and two years of COVID when services took off, GCCs coming to India etc. Fact that manufacturing kept pace with rest of the economy last 10 years its worth mentioning. Manufacturing takes off with a lag vis a vis policies and contract signing. For example look at our semiconductor sector. Policies are in place and various contracts signed, That lag effect is at play and we will soon be churning out chips in India. The same is the case with all sectors. I feel the PLIs model has been a success and the base is being readied. Soon we will see results in coming decades
