I really appreciate this video - There's a lot that went unanswered for a while in my mind that was addressed in this short amount of time. I appreciate you having shed some light on the field and the many pathways available!
I am finishing up my undergraduate degree in International Business and a career in sustainability has been on my radar for some time. This video helps narrow down what avenues I should explore. Thanks! =)
Do you think a Ph.D in Sustainable Investments/ Law, would open doors for a decently lucrative career in Europe? I did my British LL.M thesis titled 'Legality of FDIs to achieve sustainable economic development in Sri Lanka', and got a Distinction for it and feeling positive. 🙂
@@Nirsterkur Sorry I don't know much about European market. Interestingly, you asked it from another Sri Lankan. Because I'm from Sri Lanka as well....🙂 By the way, I also work in the Sustainability sector. Specifically, Sustainability in the built environment. By the way, congrats for your achievement!!
I can tell you what's keeping me up at night. I can't "do" the entire big campus college application process. Been on the education career, college prep, path since Junior year high. My 1.5 years in a college as a Caltech transfer student were rough, if not pointless. There's so much we can do with ecology, green justice, anti-climate change... but 60% of the people who Want to or strive to be involved don't get into colleges. Don't make it into the process. We don't get in. At best we can organize or protest, but that does nothing, next to nothing. I am very serious about UCLA and I want to be a part. I'm apart. This period of my life, since 16, has been the Saddest, soul-crushing-est part of my life. You turn 1-8 and lose all social value and people expect to make money off you. I don't know what to do. But I know what I want to be doing. Help.
You could possibly check out youth & truth sessions by a spiritual person !! Per my personal experience, they helped me get clarity during my saddest days of life !!
I understand how you're feeling, and based on my own experience I think you could really benefit from a gap year/leave of absence to focus on your wellbeing and figure out/try out how you should go about doing what you want to do. Also know that you're one human being and you can't do everything, but you can do what matters most to you and what you think is most impactful. It sounds to me like you've actually identified a need in the environmental space that you could do something about- education and storytelling like this video^ talks about. Hope this helps :)
Um stop over thinking and just do what you know you have to do. Be in control of your mind. What do you mean you “can’t” go to a campus? Can’t or won’t?
Definitely interested in water, sanitation, health. But idk how to get there or if I'll be good enough. 😕 Edit: so I still have a passion but life is unexpected so pursuing something else .-.
Hey Janette.. This aspiration to take up course in w s h comes to sensible people.. However yeah it's the circumstances that for each of us decide our paths either temporarily or for people in some nations permanently.. So, as it's always true, no profession is less or more.. Say chef or hair dresser or medical expert . Everyone's job is important in human society... So for survival let's say you are into some job, plus You can try this way.. Get into agroforestry/ urbanforestry projects in your place which give multiple benefits .. As they are FORESTS, I don't think i need to explain further on what a forest can do to any living species on our Earth !!
In fact it is difficult to be an honor worker sometimes it depends from the country where is living . The easy way is to be the servile of boss and that's it especially this happend very often in poor countries as Albania we are not poor but politicans make us poor and this is a big problem. 😍
Thanks for the video. I am a widow from India. My son has completed B. Tech mech and has a CGPA 7.5. He was having bit learning difficulties at school but overtime has managed to find his own way out. He is planning to do a PG diploma (2yr) course In sustainability - energy conservation or similar which he can link with his B.Tech degree & work in industries (as now many Industries emphasis on sustainability and ensure their projects sustainable/ environment friendly). He is not so Interested in too much interaction with people & prefer an office environment job. Could you please suggest few universities in Canada & its scope. Do these courses require getting a license to work there? Please help

A good wholistic introduction. Sustainability is a very broad field and much more than just carbon footprint reduction.
