- Rajiv's watercolor practice entails painting all sorts of things from real life; people, buildings and still-life compositions. One of the aspects of this process that is most appealing to Rajiv is the quiet, peaceful nature of sitting and painting by natural light, which shifts and moves over time.

Rajiv and I are about to go out to the local Ren-Fair to see Elizabeth's tent for reading cards .. Yesterday while the pots were drying he did a watercolor of the wall and trees behind the pottery ..It is so beautiful seeing the image emerge from light to dark..If you want a light place it needs to be left as you add the colors..Wonderful to see .. Ps I am just getting up and I can smell Rajiv made muffins this morning :)
Hahaha. Scones! With lemon curd.
@@rajivsurendra They were amazing :) . Rajiv is the best guest one could ever have .. After all these years not a guest at all but just family ...
So precious hearing such intimate, dear, homewarming things! Like cooking and art!! Soo very sacred ❤❤❤❤ so happy you know each other and bring such JOY to our world and to you and your lived ones ❤❤❤❤🎉
Rajiv gave a beautiful talk in New Zealand recorded for UA-cam where he describes how watercolour painting changed his life, and he makes just this point. Craftsmanship, artistry, and friendships like yours' and Rajiv's are gifts to us all and to be celebrated. Thank you for sharing with us.
@@rajivsurendraI love making scones and would be interested in seeing a video of your recipe 😊
THIS is one of the reasons to love UA-cam 🙏🏾
Quiet, deliberate, slow, beautiful... we are lucky to have Rajiv remind us of what it is to be human.
You won me over a very long time ago, Rajiv. I watch everything, but this morning, I needed to watch you paint pears. I needed to see your process and your incredible gift. I am blown away and so happy for you. I hope you are, too.
Thank you ;-)
This video is like slowly waking up in your beautifully comfortable bed, the softly dappled morning sun shining through the open window, and just laying there, listening to the birdsong, knowing you have nowhere else you need to be.
So gifted! A True Renaissance Man!
We comment on the excellent content, but the videography, music, and editing combine to take it to the stratosphere. Great production values.
I thought I just needed to be alone this morning but found what I really needed was to sit quietly on the patio watching the finches in the bird bath and Rajiv painting pears. Thank you.
Thank you for the silence and the peace❤
Tip" if you lightly wet your paper and allow it to dry, very little if no wrinkling or bumping of the paper will occur when you apply wet color. Love the silence too.
Taped to cardboard & unknown paper… maybe Raj could find a light cutting board, kitchen goods, in his desired size to fit in with limited space city apartment life? Did see Jo-Anne has smallish art boards. But, a thin cutting board could be tilted on a donut cell phone holder concept item he could redesign to be beautiful and multifunctional? Picture composition & colors I like very much! 🥰
Agreed! I had to shut the music off, not needed. Beautiful work and finished art. Beautiful bracelets!!!!
I look forward to Saturday mornings, just to see what you're up to. I'm never disappointed. 💗💗💗🌈🌈🌈
Thanks for watching!
What a coincidence that you posted this video the day after I treated my long-neglected inner artist to a tin of watercolours and a little block of watercolour paper. Like Cindy Brown commented below, this video brought me to tears, and I'm wondering why. Perhaps because it hit hard that this is what we humans really ought to be doing with ourselves: being creative instead of destructive. Please do more painting videos! xxx
How can the watercolor painting of two simple pears, bring me to tears? Rajiv, Thank you sincerely. 💛
This is the only ASMR video I can tolerate. There’s no annoying whispering etc.
This is so much better!
Please make more watercolor videos! This was an absolute joy to watch.
I was concentrating so hard on your process for painting that I didn't even think about the fact you didn't speak one word. The music was perfect. I hope you framed those perfect pears.
Rajiv, I don't think there is any thing about you that's imperfect. You are one amazing human being! Thanks for sharing pieces of you and your life with us. It's always inspiring.
A master painter knows what the water will and will not do; Rajiv demonstrates this to perfection!
Rajiv, this was so simple, pleasant, and peaceful. Thank you.
Master at work, thoroughly enjoyed. I experience transcendentalism when I watch your videos. It reminds me of Jiddu Krishnamurthy!
Thank you love for showing many people how to live life fully, enjoy the moment by decluttering unwanted things in our lives.
Have a lovely weekend.
Thank you for your words of encouragement, they mean a lot to me 🙂
He is like the Krishnamurti of taking care of the home
The sound of the brush on the water is divine………
What an awe inspiring gift I have received this morning!!!
Dude....what street do you live on?? Are those... [what do you call them].... birds singing!?! As a former Brooklyn resident I am seriously impressed that you were able to capture anything other than car horns, sirens, blasting music and random people yelling. Well done, you! 😂💛
Beautiful as always, Rajiv. I enjoyed seeing a different format of video than you usually produce. It's so meditative and inspiring to watch you at work in this way. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
Even the 2 minute intro is cause for joy.😊
Rajiv: I've watched your content off and on for several years, so I'm used to seeing you practice the domestic arts, but I'd not yet seen you put your hand to the fine arts. Being a past President of a Statewide Art Org. and an artist myself, I have to say that watching you paint for the first time, even though I know everything you do is of excellent quality, this was as suspenseful - in a fun way - as watching a Hitchcock movie!
You'd put brush to paper and make a swish that was *exquisite* and my inner inspiration would shout with glee: "STOP!!!!" - and then _you'd change it_ !! I would *GASP* and the result would be _better than before_ !!! So - thanks for reminding me of the very first time I tried soft pastels with some friends in a small class at our local art museum. I was terrified of them, so needed a lot of coaxing.
I too (slowly), made a few swishes - at a painting of pears I'd started on a black background - and all of the ladies would *GASP* and tell me: "STOP! It's perfect like it is!" and I'd say: "It's okay. I can do another painting too after this one - the way *YOU* want it to look."
My point is - I love *YOUR* version just the way it is. The great part about creating art is that it's all as individualized as we are. It's our DNA Code 'expressed' in watercolors, pastels, oils, clay, etc.. So - now I'll have to get my watercolors out, then start - and stop - where I want to. I think I'll do pears too.
Keep painting! *YOUR* perspective is, as usual, _PERFECT_ . I can't wait to see more of your pieces - *YOUR WAY* !
Love this new video concept ❤
A wonderful idea proposed by our videographer, Luke.
This was Bob Ross level serenity. You are so gifted. As always, thank you for sharing❤️
I would like to encourage anyone who is watching this, who is even a bit inspired to learn, to avoid viewing artistic skill as a 'gift'. Most of the skill comes from many, many hours of practice, solid instruction from a fantastic teacher, and then the hard work of critical thinking before the brush touches the paint or paper.
Bob Ross?
Painting is learned.
But there is something known as talent. Some people learn faster than others.
@@staciej2580 you are right. Some people are born with a gift for creating art. I was, but I learned to be better at it by instruction and practice. I’ve taught art for over thirty years and believe whether a person is gifted or not, there is much to be learned.
Rajiv your hands are gifted. No matter what you try you give it your whole heart. Every detail of you doesn’t go unnoticed.
One of the things I LOVE about water colour, is its ability to capture a moment in time, in a way that no other medium seems to. It's like it captures a drop of that moment's...spirit? Emotion?...in the water, and you can still feel it, hours or centuries later. It's magic.
Beautiful! It's such a pleasure to watch the magic an artist taking a flat piece of paper and ink and see it come to life. Thank you for a beautiful, peaceful video.
process looks so therapeutic, love it! thanks for sharing
I’ve always admired watercolor, and thought I don’t have the patience to learn it. You never cease to amaze me with everything you do!
He makes everything so beautiful and civilised, what a gem.
Rajiv your painting on the wall above the table is crooked and driving me crazy Love you 🌷
Love it! Wouldn’t mind some more of this.
Thank you for allowing us into your private time. Both painting and video were positively sublime. Well done! ❤️
It's so beautiful! Love everything about you channel, you are such a vivid eclectic soul☺️
LOVED this!! Simply beautiful!
We all danced with you on the hilltop of representation, very near the ledge overlooking the chasm of mirroring. And we almost tumbled into it together. I love to dance with you, Rajiv.
Gorgeous painting! and beautiful video💙
Personally I think water color painting is more difficult than oil painting!!! Great job!! 😮
Such a beautiful, sharing soul! I just literally sat and watched Rajiv in the middle of dryng paint and was amazed and happy!
Beautiful. Everything. The setting, the silence, the process, the results...
The pleasure of looking at and deeply seeing something and all of it's subtle details while honing the skill of interpreting what I see onto the two dimensions of a piece of paper with water color paints is a joy I've experienced. The results, although nice, is the residual benefit from the calm and peace of mind given to me by time spent within the process. Watching you while you're in that magical state of being is wonderful and inspirational. Rajiv, I remain inspired and grateful, thank you for making and posting this video 💪😎👍
Only you could live in a city of millions and have only bird songs while being fabulous! ❤ next video…creating scones …with lemon curd? With a neighbour singing an aria…🎶😉
I agree... but lose the aria...
Thank you for helping me experience mindful listening, showing your process of painting a watercolor and the beautiful outcome.I also love that you chose to paint the paint the pears on a simple cloth.
This didn't need any words watching the beautiful painting appear and the quiet concentration on your face was so relaxing thank you ❤
I loved watching this. thank you for the silence and the creativity xxx
Thank you. Loved the use of blue in the pear's shadows.
This was so soothing. I was having a rough day until I watched your new video and you gave me such a sense of calm and renewal. Thank you, Rajiv ❤
The serenity one person can bring to another....
This person was really gifted
He's so talented in many ways
Every time I watched UA-cam
When I saw his new uploaded video, I never skipped to watch..
Rajiv, You just inspired me to get my paints out. Today is a low day. So thank you for that. Much love 💓
Rajiv, it was soothing to view your painting process. I now imagine you putting away this lovely watercolor to reside alongside your other beautiful paintings in your treasure box of a storage space 🙂 Much love and blessings.
Thank you! This one actually sold in my watercolor sale last week. It's going to San Francisco.
Oh my! Congrats! Love your work! ❤
Those brushes❤
He reminded me in this video of a lot of things that I have forgotten painting and I'm really grateful to be reminded. And the interesting peculiarities that make Rajiv what he is, make watching him do art in itself artistic.
Truly the soul of an artist within this man. I'm really glad you made this video. Richie and I'm really glad I was able to watch it😊. I have cataracts and some days my eyes are really blurry but I've been trying to paint quite a bit more and this now makes me want to do a watercolor. Thank you
You're like a diamond, Rajiv - multi-faceted and shining from every angle.
It's a joy to watch your channel. Thanks.
❤from Canada.
One of my Absolute Favorite videos!!!🙌🏻🥹💗
Stunning! You’ve inspired me to start painting again!😘
Beautiful. I love all your videos, Rajiv. But maybe your 'making' videos are my favorites. Thank you so much. 🙏
What can I say? Pure magic... Thank you, Rajiv...
Beautiful in every way! Thank you!
Hi Rajiv.
I have been watching your content for some time now, and i just want to say thank you kindly for all of the love you put into everything you do.
It's amazing, and you are probably an incredible human being.
it's so heartwarming. I wish you all the best in the world, truly
Watching you for a while now…..has really inspired me to get back to creating what I know, and to start the process of learning new things. Pulling my well used easel out of storage, the preparation, and touching the beautiful tools has already given me joy. Thank you ☺️
Rajiv! Seriously, you need to do more watercolor! This was amazing! Could you do more watercolor with you talking over with your thought process about your paint strokes and what you are doing exactly. So, so fun!
So perfect to watch you and hear the birds. So serene. Thank you.
The most meditative watercolor.
So beautiful, Rajiv. Your many talents just astound me.🌹
Thank you for a beautiful silent interlude.
Love the choice of music and the background chirping of the birds all adding to what you are creating ❤
Nice to see the process! Thanks!
Such talent! You never cease to amaze me!❤
MY FAVOURITE CHANNEL!
Beautiful to see you completely into the flow. Great eye, steady hand. Loved to see this process.

We will, thank you!
Thank you for this. I am learning watercolour which can be daunting. This has helped a lot. Just watching, its very peaceful. 😊🇯🇲
Please do more watercolors, I enjoyed it very much. A great way to end my day.
Loved this video and the silence with you painting - just beautiful. Oh, and nice pears...!
Just how I needed to start my day, with a breath of fresh air! Thanks Rajiv.
Lovely, like a little movie. Quiet and contemplative.
Beautiful and so enjoyable to watch! Amazing how you captured the fruit and beautiful linen!
Is there anything you can't do? Your talents and everything you do with such grace, cleanliness and skill never cease to surprise me. Awe inspiring. I love watching your videos ⭐️
Absolute perfection.
Rajiv is amazing!! Everything he does is perfectly perfect!! Love his ways!! ❤

Lindo e iluminado lugar para pintar!🙋♂️🇦🇷
Such a beautiful result!
Rajiv, I have to thank you for the pleasure of being able to watch this video without some awful music playing over it. What peaceful enjoyment. No talking, no noise, just watching you paint. Ahhhh... (now maybe you can do a video about how to do a UA-cam video without music).
I've just discovered your channel Rajiv- and sooo glad! It is such a great change to watch a watercolor artist and not listen to the endless babbling about brush size, every color paint being used, weight of paper etc.etc,etc... I got more out of this one quiet video than dozens of others I've watched. Thank you! Beautiful work
Stunningly beautiful!! Thank you!!
And of course he has the most beautiful metal palette 🎨 Love!
Thank you for this moment of interior beauty. Life is so awakening with you❤
Exquisite! Thank you for sharing this moment with us.
When i heard you for the first time, it was kind of listening i was seeking from a long time... But this ASMR of yours ! ... Its kind of a companionship found that i was longing for a long time. A truly wholesome experience everytime, like watching a pal. ❤
Jesteś taki miły. Zawsze. Ale te gruszki ! Uwielbiam Cię.
Dziękuję bardzo!
I love watching you set up and paint. What a shame to miss you eating the pears, and cleaning up!😂 I so admire you, and LOVE your videos, Rajiv.❤
Favorite video!
I adore you and yours channel; enjoying it for years. This painting is so quietly cheerful and beautiful. I love it! Do you ever sell your paintings?
Lovely zen work environment.
