Bro, Fareed anticipates your comment by revealing the attitude of Americans towards the EDUCATED elites. Note that the wealthy elites skate on unscathed LOL
Be part of the solution, not the problem 😉 It's hard for most people to sit through a 50 min video, educate yourself and share it in more interesting ways and more will watch!
Love this ! 1). We need to treat the people who “work with their hands” with the same respect as we afford to professionals who “work with their heads”. 2). We always had the capacity to cut child poverty in half. We just chose to do it.
Fareed is a treasure. We are fortunate to have him near us in North America, so that we can benefit from his wisdom, his depth of knowledge and his foresight. Thank you Fareed for being so informative, and for offering real solutions to many of the world’s problems.
What a privilege to hear one of my favourite intellectual presenter! Love and drink in all you're programs Dr Zakaria can't wait to read your book. Ps. Deeply sorry for the loss of your dear mother may she rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏
I am so impressed by Fareed Zakaria's basic humanity and fantastic grasp of current event and global trends. Fareed - you are always welcome at my BBQs.
Impressed by Fareed's knowledge and insight in such a vast range of topics. He brings them together and integrates them to understand the overall picture and then uses them to draw learning takeaways. This is not easy. I agree 100% that this pandemic has given us a chance to look at life and priorities in a different light.
It's surprising that Fareed didn't anticipate the resistance of mask wearing in western democracy where personal freedom is held as the highest priority. He also didn't understand Eastern culture where mask wearing has been around for hundreds of years and communal responsibility is the highest priority. In fact people in East Asia immediately put on masks without the government asking them to do so. Self reliance is the virtue in East Asian culture. Democracy by its nature is chaotic and the US constitution was purposely written to prevent centralization of authority. It's no wonder that western democracy fails to protect its citizens in this regard.
Thank you Fareed for all that you do - from being a great CNN tv anchor to a very pragmatic resourceful dynamic writer journalist ... Last but not the least, many many Thank you 's to LBJ Library for bringing out quality conversations discussions and interviews and what else have you within this framework of things ... Always with best wishes and regards 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Fareed has done very well for himself. Remember he has a good upbringing back home in India before he travelled to US in 1982. Definitely, a product of his environment.
Thanks to Fareed for taking on the task of developing a big picture perspective and delivering it to the rest of us in a clear, informative manner. His wisdom is surely our prize for following.
Thank you for his! Wonderful conversation. Little LBJ story. I met him when I was in Girl Scouts, maybe 1957or 1958. Our troupe, on an outing to Washington, DC (from Maryland) took the little underground train between the capital and the Senate offices (?). As we got off, LBJ walked up to go in. ''Oh, girls, our leader gushed loudly, this is Senator Johnson, a very important man in our government!'' He heard, grinned, and shock hands with each of us! We were about 11 years old. Since then, I connected that grin and handshake--and the important good works he achieved as president with the pleasant awe I felt then!
The issue with Black Americans is not that they didn't receive help after slavery ended but that they were oppressed, terrorized, and returned to slavery under a different system. Just think a slave's soul purpose was to work from birth to death which means they knew how to do ALL that was needed to not only sustain themselves but to be prosperous. They could farm, they were blacksmiths, ranch-hands, cooks, medical assistants, you name it. So to say they couldn't be self sufficient is false. All they needed was a place to grow. Every immigrant coming to America was given the freedom to flourish. 40 acres and a mule is a small price to pay for 200 years of labor, even indentured servants got a few acres after 7 years of unpaid labor. Anyway, I'm a big fan of GPS. Fareed Zakaria is wonderful. He enlightens and inspires me more than any other journalists I know.
This is an interview that tells how smart this guy comes across. We have to take him serious. He is a real guru in international relations. I would like to see him write something on third world countries. And that I mean how we can get out of the under-development.
Fascinating conversation. Just one point I would have loved to engage Fareed on it “what if China has come with Vaccine 4-6 months before the Western (Pfizer, JnJ etc)
Spot on. The rise of the quaternary sector (content producers) has made primary and secondary sector workers feel side-lined. An example of this is the hostility towards Hollywood. The GOP represents the farm owners - the farm workers follow them.
He excels in putting an intellectualish wrapper on establishment dribble. As an example, any Covid policy that does not include natural immunity (27x the vax) cannot be taken seriously.
NOW i AM DISAPPOINTED.....MANY PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO REFLECT.......THEY ARE HUNGRY......THEY ARE HOMELESS......THEY DEAL WITH DISPAIRE EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY..............STOP THE PREACHING
Wow, less than 3,000 views for such insight when a good cat video gets 10,000,000 in a week. We are so DOOMED! Makes me want to cry.
There is just no hope.

It has always been so
Not necessarily a modern degeneration

"The US is a rich country that acts poor". It's so true. The US could solve any problem is its citizens choose to.
Excellent insights, analysis and information. The final conclusion I really loved!

Taiwan in phase 2 is going through a broken bureaucracy. Politics takes precedence over science and logic. Go study the situation now!
Fared Zaharia is one of the few public Muslim personalities who is universally respected, well minus Iran that has a “FATWA” on him
Cooperate with time or disappear once again.
