  • In this video I modify a brass cleaver race propeller to suit a smaller motor than the prop was designed for. I re-spline the bush, reduce the propellers diameter, change the tip shape, add cupping and balance.
Hope this helps for those wanting to play with props at home, check out my other videos on balancing propellers at home and modifying propellers.
    All the best 👍

Yeah I take them from old props. You can buy new ones but cheaper from old wrecked props.

EVERYONE CHECK OUT THIS GUYS CHANNEL
      ITS AWESOME 👏
      Hi Mate,
It works really well for a number of things, I’m sure you will pin something like that too. I have also drilled and tapped a thread in the same manner to install long grub screws between a 32mm bright bar and some hubs on a off road buggy I made which is the same idea.
keep up the good work champ

I’ve binged watched many of your videos. I’ve been thinking It would be much easier if you put them in groups.
    “Propeller mods”
    “5hp outboard mods” etc.
Loving what you’re doing though! You’ve really got me wanting to see how fast I can get my small boat to go with a 5hp!!!
I can’t get enough of it!

I was a little heart broken when ya wacked that cleaver into a drag prop. Your awesome backyard machine work, and the fact that it works on your boat, made up for it. Great work!

It was actually a failed casting that I got many years ago and the tips of the cleaver where too thin so cutting them off for a smaller motor was my plan.
Went more the chopper style as it’s going to be used on a monohull and I have another cleaver too for that boat.
      All the best
      Cheers 🍻

Yeah, the pins really work well to lock the splines, I have used that technique with much larger hp props too.

Some people are quick to criticise and I bet ain’t so perfect. What do you expect, the guy ain’t a top filmer and actor! I’d love to see that guy make a UA-cam video because I bet we could all find something to criticise! The amount of time and innovation to make that is amazing. Backyard in the shed diy style engineering at its best. Appreciate your time to film these videos and explain how it’s done. Also love the videos showing the speed tests etc. keep up the great work and videos mate. Steve from London

      Hi Champion,
Thanks so much for your support and comments.
I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and see the positive in the video. I really love tinkering with outboards, boats, props etc and I try to put up vids when I can as they can help others or hopefully give people the confidence to try something new.
I do have pretty thick skin most of the time and actually going to try and get better at being more confident explaining what I’m doing or making in these videos.
All the best and cheers 🍻
