    I have a strong background in working on cars, and I am watching this video because I have never replaced an alternator on a 2013 Dodge Journey and am just looking for locations of bolts, hints, tips and tricks. Excellent video, no BS, just the facts and I feel that this video made my install go much quicker but was detailed enough to give confidence to someone who doesn't have a lot of care repair experience. Again, great job.

    Great video now that you've shown a tremendous way of removing and installing the alternator. But I've gone through quite a few videos on what hoses those are on the bottom right in your video pause at 9:25 and to the right of your finger the thicker hose is called? I have a coolant leak and I need to know if that's a lower radiator hose or bypass or heater or you get my drift? Please 🙏 answer soon found the coolant leaking and I believe the culprit is that thick hose

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  Рік тому

      The one on the left is an antilock brake line and the one on the right goes to the brake caliper itself, it is a hydraulic hose that provides brake fluid to the brake caliper. If you have any other questions, please ask. 👍

      The best way is to use a multimeter on your battery while the car is running and if it is 14 Volts And that means the alternator is working and it’s probably your battery but I will give you this link that goes in the more details and hopefully you will get it figured out easily.

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  2 роки тому

      Yeah I remember when they used to be but unfortunately on this Dodge Journey the tensioner tool is much smaller than a ratchet head I would say it’s only about a half a centimeters thick whereas the ratchet that I use is probably about an inch to an inch and a half.

    What kind of tool can I use to do this job if I don't have money for a tensioner tool?

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  2 роки тому

      To be honest I really don’t know unless you are a welder and can fabricate your own tool I really recommend using the tensioner tool because it is small enough to fit in that tight spot that the tensioner is in.

    • @WesleyPipez100
      @WesleyPipez100 2 роки тому +2

      I was also curious about this, the part that goes into the tensioner looks very similar to a 3/8" drive that simply goes into any 3/8" drive socket is that correct? I couldn't see it clearly in the video. If so and you could get a 3/8" drive wrench in there with a long enough handle maybe you could use that instead?

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  2 роки тому +1

      Yes and no technically the drive is that size but the reason why they made the tensioner tool is because the head of the ratchet is too thick to fit in between the frame of the car and onto the tensioner so that is why they made the tensioner tool because it is made super skinny in width. But if you can find something else that can fit in between that space and has a little bit of leverage that could move the tensioner that would work but in my case I just found it a lot easier to go rent the tensioner tool at my local auto parts store.

    • @rcjerz
      @rcjerz 2 роки тому +2

      @@Mr_Goody I had a tensioner tool and also a 3/8 flex. I actually used the 3/8 flex ratchet worked good.
