Just a tip for anyone trying to do this on MCC in 2020 - if you are finding that the banshee is consistently getting stuck on the top of the door, but the elite isn't exiting the banshee, you may be moving too quickly from the left of the door to the center. Try delaying a little longer. That's what did it for me. Seems to work on PC at any framerate as well. This trick is awesome!
Hmmm wish I read this earlier. I did it maybe 50 times and got it and took my 8:00min run. This may have shaved minutes off that. Took 3+ just to get the banshee.
I finally got the banshee to come down, but the elite landed it on top of me before he got out. And legit did the stupid laugh the elites do when they kill you.
I've been using to make the MCC one xbox easier to play as I hate that mission on legendary without it. You can use the little cliff bit in the shadow to and the engine of the banshee to know when to crotch. when it looks like there is not light between the engine and the shadow "cliff" crotch.
@@KaitoKagamine you see the shadow to the left of the banshee when it comes at you? there is a discoloration on the lit up area next to it that I originally mistook as a shadow as it is darker than rest of the lit up part and next to the shadow, if you look at 4:46-4:47 you can see the banshee's right engine (left when you are looking at it) seem to land on it right before he crouches, It gives a bit of illusion of engine landing on a cliff, but it is just the discoloration in the wall. It is how I do it, but I've only done the trick twice as the latter half is what I need to work on (moving after the crouch bit). I don't know the teleporting using banshees tricks, which he uses now in his speedruns.
Also a tip. Instead of having to look and see when the banshee is in the area to crouch, just memorize Cortana' words. For me it's when she says "to" in "wanted the installation to have inclement weather". I don't have to look in case I'm busy defending myself.
@@BrandonLeeHD sometimes the words is a little off depending on how fast you move after hitting the load barrier but yeh your welcome. This one took forever for me to figure out, so worth it though.
I got it stuck down low many times but the elite never exits the banshee its even a couple times just sat there next to me with engines running and he never gets out and if I get close and touch it I die! Very frustrating

@@slizer_ I had to look it up. Apparently an update by 343 for the MCC messed with a lot of AI stuff. So for some reason the update accidentally forced that Banshee to appear in the wrong spot. They said they are going to have a fix for it sometime in November. So if you're looking to skip you might want to consider doing the bridge drop strat instead for now.
Thank you for this tutorial sir! As far as speed running Assault on the Control Room I've always tried the drop down from the bridge without ever having any success. I came close a few times but never quite got myself down to the ground without dying so the fact that this is much easier & gives you a Banshee to fly past everything instead of walking or using a ground vehicle makes this my go to strat for if I feel like speed running this mission.
If you play on really high FOV turn it back down to default when trying this, had no luck on max assumed I was always a little outta position maybe idk.
I've been trying this on MCC PC for a good hour or so, and I cannot get it to work. The same thing happens in Heroic and Legendary. Everything seems to be going fine until the Banshee's wing lines up with the shadow of the mountain. The Banshee either nosedives where the turret sits and gets stuck, or it'll fly to its left and circle back. Only very rarely will it go where it needs, but never touches the wall. It'll just pass in between the beam and back towards where the knocked-off turret sits. I figured maybe my high FOV was the issue, so I changed it. I still get the same results. Tried default 60FPS, and that didn't make a difference. Tried different graphics settings (Not switching between classic and Annversary but original and enhanced), and nothing. I don't doubt this trick still works, I just can't get any kind of consistency on this.
Man, of course after leaving this comment, I get it to work. LMAO. Can confirm it still works. Edit: For anyone wondering, I definitely brought my high FOV down to the original 78, which helped immensely in getting the shadow on the mountain part right. With 120 FOV, I was crouching a little too late when the Banshee's wing was slightly in the darker area. Once that Banshee circles around, you're pretty much home free if you follow what happens once the Banshee collides with the wall where that black spot it.
I was really struggling to do this on my original xbox, but finally got it after raising my sensitivity. The line-up was very hard to get right because of extra time wasted from low sensitivity trying to look at the ground, spin to shoot the grunts, and back to the sky. I pulled it off with sensitivity at 6.
I thought it was impossible but what helped me was increasing my look sensitivity from 3 to 6. I think it's more random though. I had the banshee get stuck in the pillar over the door several times before he flipped out of it finally. I tried 20-30 times. Where you stand and timing the crouch are the most important things, I did a full crotch and didn't seem to matter
@@lordkrythic6246 Can you even end the mission though? I used to grab that banshee or drop down all the time as a teen, but enemies stop spawning in and I'm trapped outside of the control room. I guess you've to glitch through the door than somehow?
About 40% through The Maw and after that I'm doing AOTCR to start my legendary run off easy. Time to say goodbye to the bridge jump. Tried that too many times to the point I have all the dialogue memorized

after what seems like 200 attempts, I finally got the elite ejected from the banshee and was able to get in. confirmed this works on the xbox 360 CE Anniversary. I am playing it on xbox one
i know im late to respond but an update made by 343 changed the ai for a lot of enemies in halo ce. meaning the banshee grab has been pretty much impossible since then, but i heard they were trying to get it fixed so the AI goes back to how it used to be November 2022 but, it seems it might not have happened (because 343 never do anything right)

Looks much easier than the bridge drop, but i cant get the pilot to eject or NOT splatter me dead. Bridge seems safer sadly even though i can get it about 1 in 10 tries for the first part, i just mess up on the 2nd part and need to practise it more cuz i know its easy.

In normal running, you get a checkpoint at the far end of the corridor from the exit door, but continuous jumping until you're past the "loading zone" location will delay the checkpoint until you stop jumping. If you have to try this multiple times (most players will), having a checkpoint close to the exit makes it easier, quicker, and less tedious.

Incidentally, at 0:48 when you say you don't think the positioning matters all that much, I'd disagree. Quite small deviations can reduce your success rate. Extensive testing is how I decided on that particular spot. It gave the best success rate. Mind you, I was using Xbox. On PC I suspect you have better precision of control, which I guess could mean that the positioning is a bit less critical for you.
Still works on 2021 MCC. I followed exact the same thing as this guy on video did but sometimes it works and doesn't work. But I found out one more trick that needed to be added. The extra trick is Don't move ur AIMING when moving from white pillar door left to right. Use WALKING MOVEMENT only and that did the trick for me. I'm using Xbox series which works also.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I try this. I go to the spot with my reticle and ... It doesn't turn when it spawns it just heads directly towards me. What am I doing wrong? Edit: I tried not killing all the covenant in the first room to trigger a different response from the game. I tried to just straight run from door to door, it still spawns in the same spot I even tried just resetting a few times wtf am I doing wrong? From the initial spawn of the banshee it will not make it's initial turn to where it will go across the line of the mountain to where I can crouch to make it do it's second turn.
this setup does not work as of 6/9/21. have everything lined up correctly, i can get the banshee to fly into the wall, but the elite does not get out. just flies around and maneuvers until it flies away.

At least for me bridge fall is more consistent but both should be 100% execution based so in theory they have the same consistency

Banshee grab is still faster overall, because you can cover more ground afterwards and quicker.

I've never once been trapped outside the control room. But yes, all enemies refuse to spawn. That's normal.

The key for me was when you move to the right of the door, dont look anywhere else just walk to the right

Weird, I don't know what else to tell you other than have the textures on 'high', I also use flashlight to see things better.

I have a better way of getting the banshee, what’s funny is nobody knows about it just yet😝 but I can in fact get it before it takes off.

He’s talking about the slower, outdated early banshee strat with the rocket launcher from 2008.
@@Zonda1996 I remember playing co-op with my friend back in the day and finding the rocket banshee trick by accident. Cool as fuck.

this setup does not work as of 6/9/21. have everything lined up correctly, i can get the banshee to fly into the wall, but the elite does not get out. just flies around and maneuvers until it flies away.
