Iraq's GDP today is 200 billion. It was never this big under Saddam, and all the money was kept by Saddam and spent on golden palaces while 2 million of his people starved in the sand or were being genocided by him.
"In the 1980s Iranian jets destroyed most of Iraq's oil and gas infrastructure ". Now imagine what the US would do to Iran if the Iranians started a conflict in the Gulf. The US aren't putting boots on the ground or even flying over Iran in planes : cruise missiles will turn Iran into a stone-age economy.
vinm300 it’s Where would the US attack Iran from? The Arab countries. Which means Iran will send tens of thousands of missiles to completely destroy oil production in Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. They would also launch missiles against strategic ports, airports and military bases. Basically the Arab countries and Iran will both be set back to the Stone Age. Which is why a war isn’t a good idea and also why the US doesn’t attack.
@@lifeovdeath , and who benefits then ? Oil production from the middle east ceases , prices rocket : Russia benefits, the US does , Venezuela etc Iran would be a stone-age country worse than Syria is now. It would take Iran almost 100yrs to recover. War is not an option for Iran.
vinm300 no one benefits. There is simply not enough oil production outside the Middle East to keep the world running. Some countries benefit from soaring oil prices. If the oil supply is hit, it will create a chain reaction affecting in hundreds of other industry which will make many things unaffordable such as gas/ electricity, travel, petrochemical related product. Also projects and sales which are funded from oil sales will all seas. It’s better to de escalate rather then go to war.
