Buffalo Airways is an airline based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. They mainly fly WWII-era piston powered propeller planes in minus 40 degrees and land on tiny strips of tarmac in the tundra.

I just found this show few months ago and love Buffalo. I knew Arnie had already passed and made this episode very Emotional.
Rip Arnie. Just found out this series was produced between 2009-2014. Quite sad to know Arnie passed on after 2 seasons in 2012.

Thanks for sharing that update. Really saddening to learn that decent chap is no longer with us. He appeared to be a great guy with quite an even mild mannered temperament, perfectly suited for his aviation career.
He would certainly have lived a very full and adventurous life flying the variety of equipment he did amongst challenging conditions, from water bombing wildfires to frigid arctic missions, even a ferry flight to Turkey that included him imparting his terrific and very unique knowledge with local pilots. A genuine achiever and great mentor that many Canadian pilots in a variety of careers must be extraordinarily grateful to.
I hope he was able to fully enjoy his brief retirement after resettling, he deserved much much longer with his quite young family, I sincerely empathise their loss despite it being over ten years ago. It’s always a kick in the teeth to see decent people who have given so much of themselves have their life cut short, while miserable ratbags continue to suck air while creating chaos and upset seemingly forever!
Wherever he is I hope he’s having a blast!
Arnie was one of the best. As was….Kelly & Jimmy. They are gone too. Kelly in 2019? RIP Buffalo greats!

I loved this series, this is what it's like in the far north. These carriers really are the life line for numerous remote communities throughout Canada and Alaska
Apparently they can't put a dent in the really large fires. Perhaps a bigger fleet of retrofitted bigger planes converted like the C-130 dual float plane being tested. Put the water in the floats (not full of coarse)...

I met 3 bush pilots in us airforce training in T38. From Kenya They used to fly anything they could find to drop food& mail, supplies in remote areas of Africa. They all became fighter pilots and later went on to airlines.
What's the end of the story of that plane they went to check in Venezuela whivh would be sould to the Turkish government?

I love this program reminds me of my dad who use to take me flying in the piper cub 1950s & 60s stored at the MidWest Hanger at Billy Mitchel Field Milwaukee, Wiscomsin. GOt the opportunity to learn to pilot this aircraft before the age of 13yrs. Unfortunately one of the other owners had cracked up the little piper cub (Tri Pacer N7030D)
