Regular seal pup with the nylon sheath, and a Leatherman Wave in the front pocket of the sheath. That's my ideal set-up for camping, fishing, working in the garage, or in the yard. It does it all for me. Been running the seal pup like that for about 10 years.
only the ones made in taiwan are good. the new china ones are crap and the sheath is crap. i wish i didnt abuse my first sog seal pup. i cant find one thats not made in china anymore.
Finally a recent video about these! I mean seriously most videos about Seal pup elites are from YEARS ago. How come no one really talks about em anymore?
I have a 2nd gen Sog navy seal full size and it's a pretty good blade, I've used it as a small machete at times and I have some older Sog blades that are really sweet. What I find with Sog is to get a good knife from them you have to spend a little more money on their higher end knives for the quality. Most of the knives I use and daily carry are Tops and Zero Tolerance. However I have a Sog Vulcan tanto I absolutely love and an old Air Sog, some of my favorite folders. They unfortunately don't compare to my Tops Police interceptor or the Tops operator7 or my Skullcrusher for all out outdoor beatings those.
I love my SOG Seal Team knife. It looks and feels like a small sword. The SOG Force knife is also a beefy beast. It has a beautiful profile and feels great in the hand.
Had shorter serrations for my original SEAL 2000 fixed blade in 1994, it was made in 🇯🇵 Seki city, carried it for jungle operations...regretfully sold it off to a friend in 2004 as part of my 45 knives collection.
Bring back the old Tigershark with a modern Seal type handle, no coating and NO serrations. Seal Team Elite without serrations and no coating would be awesome! A dehorned de-gymped uncoated Seal XR folder would be awesome as well. Or do an uncoated dehorned de-gymped version and call it the Tomcat 4.0. Longtime customer here (17 SOGs currently), hopefully SOG is listening out there somewhere...
Before they were made in China it was a very good aus8 knife with a awesome nylon sheath. Later on I bought another one but it was dull as crap couldn't get a edge on it and it the sheath was crap. But from my experience with the first regular seal pup I might risk it and get the sog seal pup elite as a edc fixed blade. I'm hoping it's higher quality because it's still made in Taiwan. They use to be only 50$ for a seal pup that was made in Taiwan. Now the elite is 85$. Has anyone got experience with the elite model and how well it sharpens and feels? I was thinking about getting this or a kabar short for a edc knife when I feel like a fixed blade.
There's NO difference within the current production. There's no special Seal version and civilian version. It's just one version and you too can buy it and feel elite.
The AUS-8 steel is decently rust resistant on its own, and the black coating on top will go even further to preventing corrosion. In other words, they will do pretty well at keeping rust at bay. Just remember that stainless means it "stains less" and almost never means stain proof. Cheers! -DCA
@@ethanweber1324 hello, where did you buy your knife ? I want to buy one but im dont know much about this knife but some People sell fake knife how can i know if its fake?

Ethan well said!!! Many people love to tell you all about knives, steel types etc...but have never used their knives
I have a made in Taiwan version. Knife holds an edge better than my Gerber & Kershaw...
I have the Seal Pup and Seal Strike elite. I really want the seal team elite. I’m obsessed with SOG Seal models.
Aus 8 steel is great. Easy to sharpen compared to all the new super steel. CPM-110 is a hassle to keep sharp once it goes dull

🤷♂️
Probably cuz they been out forever. Aside from the harpoon shaped redesign, i dont think these have changed much so there's not much to report

Does the steel go all the way through to the bottom of the handle?
I do enjoy my sog throwing knives.
Wow theres a big difference from the real issued knives and the public civilian knives.

They need to make the bigger ones from the SOG lineup. Like the Agency or Recon.

How do these knives do in terms of rust? I mean it's a "SEAL" knife. So that means it can go in the ocean? Will it rust?
