"this doesn't suck" this should be your catchphrase.
Great vid! Try stepping over your hammock like stepping over a bench. Then, while standing and straddling the hammock, grab the sides out in front of you and sit your butt smack dab down in the middle. Lay back, pull up your legs and enjoy. Your current method of entering a hammock will get you an up-close look at the dirt under your hammock. ;)
You could throw some grommets in the ends and then fashion some hammock clews to hang it WW2 fashion. Or reinforce button holes.
"This doesn't suck". LOL, I love it! This is a great idea, thanks for sharing it! Now that I've got the two plash palatkas I ordered I'm going to try this. I prefer sleeping in hammocks to anything, including 'normal' beds with cushy mattresses. And I'm all about multipurpose.
Thank you! Just be mindful of the grommets. I have ripped out two different grommets over the years making camp chairs. The best solution I have found for beds, cots, hammocks, has been to run cordage through the grommets and button holes, stitching together two sides (with palatka folded in half). This puts the pressure along the entire side, rather than just the grommets. Then run two 7’ long poles through, which makes a stretcher bed that you can turn into a cot or hammock. It is really nice. Usually I just run it slightly off the ground up on two logs, one braced underneath shoulders, the other underneath knees. I use two sticks running as spacers to keep the poles spread apart. It doesn’t take long to make and is very comfortable. Cheers
@@EnduranceRoom Thanks for that advice, I will remember that.

Awesome bro! Thanks for sharing!
So size wise what's different between the Palatka and the US Shelter half??
Marion Robinson IV the shelter half is bigger. the main body of the shelter half is 6x8, plus the triangular pieces on the sides. the palatka is 6x6. they can be paired up pretty well though.
Good to know. Thanks again
