Abandoned Railway Tunnels in the Forest of Dean - Wye Valley Railway

A few of the many tunnels and Abandoned Rail Networks of the Forest of Dean.
Okay so firstly i would like to point out that Tidenham chase north is located in private property of a quarry... had to find that out the hard way by accident.
Obviously i did not at any point go into the tunnels as they are clearly bricked/Barred up (boring i know)
The Tunnels as they appear are:
Moseley Green
Lydbrook
Tidenham Chase North
Tidenham Chase South
Mierystock Tunnel
I am yet to find a decent length one that i can walk through.... however searching for these was interesting.

have walked Tidenham tunnel and the shorter one at Tintern, these are being reopened in the future as part of the cycle network

I recognised the Mierystock as soon as I saw it on introduction. Went there with a friend years ago. Managed to walk inside first time but when we went later in 1999 there was a raging torrent through it so I couldn't even get in with boots on. If only I had fisherman's ones! In Dec 2015 I took my brother there & under that bridge we found these amazing crystalline formations of ice! We heard that there was a project planned to turn the track & tunnel into a cycle path, but recently were disappointed to learn that due to finances the idea was abandoned sadly.

Lea tunnel (also called Boxbush tunnel), just outside Longhope, was open last I checked, but is on private property I believe.

So sad to see these tunnels now blocked up,glad I got the chance to walk through them back in 2008.The Tidenham is a real long one just short of a mile,it would be great if they opened up as a cycle way like the ones in Bath and the Peak district.

We did 6 tunnels last weekend and got in all 6. You need to be slim to get in 3 of them,though ! Mossley North Door had padlock on but it wasnt locked shut. The Door hinge was stiff and rusty but soon sorted that out
