Big reveal for people who understand Japanese was "It's been a while, Kuroko". It was Tetsuya before this. Same for the rest of his current and former teammates. Deep deep piece of detail.
If I had to guess I would say that the "Emperor" called them by their first names in a way to seem familiar and close with them on the surface as a manipulative thing but in actuality was doing it like how an adult is fine saying a child's first name in Japanese culture. So it was more of a superiority thing.
But the real Akashi calls his friends by their last names with no honorifics, which is also a familiar/casual way of talking to someone because that is actually as casual and friendly as Akashi can bring himself to be. Since his upbringing was apparently super strict and proper I am sure the importance of honorifics was told to him many many times. So calling those he views as friends by their last name without honorifics is as friendly as he can be.
So I just see Emperor's first name use as a manipulative kindness and Akashi's last name with no honorifics as a genuine kindness.
yup, one of the subtle, cool things about this show. same thing when kagami gives kuroko his friendship ring/necklace thing and stops calling himuro "tatsuya"
Aomine's realization about who the gatekeeper was has to be one of the most emotional moments of the show, despite being only a few moments long. There's just something really touching about it.
15:06 Not sure if you caught it, but the main reason Kuroko was crying when Ogiwara (kuroko's friend held up the basketball is because he was told by Ogiwara's friend in the flashback that he quit after losing to the Generation of Miracles in the finals, but shows that he's now back and continuing basketball!
don’t forget to watch the OVA before the movie. i think its episode 25.5 / 75.5
Yes, it's 25.5/75.4. One of my favorite episodes and much better before the movie
Thanks! I'm actually recording and watching that today!
And don't forget the bloopers
2:57 Kagami wasn't stretching, he was actually wiping the dust gathered on the sole of his shoe. When playing basketball, depending on the shoe, dust can gather pretty easily so players usually wipe the dust of their shoe with their hand. But I can understand why you would make that mistake.
When it comes to animation, it's hard to tell if it's stretching or wiping dust off. I'd say it could go either way. Unless it's specifically shown in the manga to be cleaning the sole.
21:06 same for me. My heart felt like being squeezed seeing Aomine cried like that. I mean it was his fault to fall down, but he was the victim at first, I can't blame him. And when he realized that he abandoned his strongest form himself, it shattered me.
In the manga it’s explained that in any basket game there are hundreds of passes and even the one called “great pass” are just very high quality but not perfect, because a perfect pass, if it ever happens, in a game happens only once and it’s always by pure chance. However real Akashi skill is to be able to perform that perfect pass at will, basically he is the passing version of Aomine shots.
Ah yes. WiFi Zone (Rakuzan) VS Friendzone (Seirin)...
Akashi's "Wi-Fi Zone" is him unleashing the potential of the other four close enough to the Zone but just short of it. Meanwhile, Kagami's "Friendzone" is just Seirin's team play while he's in the Zone.
🤣🤣
It’s probably the only friend zone nobody wanna get out from 😂
8:35 when the couch said it is only possible for them to be in a zone-like state because they are uncrowned kings is because the uncrowned kings are seen as second only to the generation of miracles so they would have already been close enough in ability to be raised to that level
At 8:30, The Uncrowned Kings are the 5 players that are also super good, but just behind Generation of Miracles, which include Kiyoshi, Hanamiya (the dude injuring people), and Kotaro, Mibuchi, Nebuya from Rakuzan. Hope that'll help!
And about the friend sequence, it's not just about him showing up to Kuroko's match, but in the flashback, Ogiwara quit basketball after the 111 match so it's really emotional for Kuroko to see him holding the basketball which indicates he's back to playing again
absolutely! Kuroko getting redemption for his friend was special
That’s just a BS added by the anime since even mayuzumi is in the zone. Simply with Akashi perfect passes they are performing at 90%.
@@Kal911 まあ黛はたった数か月で新型のシックスマンになったくらいだし才能あるやろ。
one of the things I really like bout how this anime went, is that it is a very realistic way of playing, a complete team that's capable of playing at the speed of their best player without even giving it a thought is how most high level team that actually mark eras play, I think the Kyoshi dialog about "don't think about it just make the play in a way that feels instinctive" is exactly what makes the most visually appealing plays, and it's not just about Basketball, but most team sports in general, and yes seeing Aomine crying with the realization of why he could not get past the second Zone Door actually made me emotional too, it is honestly one of the best moments of the anime, and honestly it feels like a redemption for Aomine.
The part I like the most is that Akashi was still able to fight against this lvl of zone Seirin was using, and had he not broken down and let them score a ton of points he still would've won.
My gosh no matter how many times I watch this ep, I always cry every time. This is def the best basketball anime so far. And yes we really want more season at least one pls 😊
This is your friendly reminder that Akashi, in early drafts, was supposed to be Kuroko's brother.
And both were passing specialists in their own way,
Which is why they have many inc*st fanfics and fanarts 😂
@@TheFlowerbeastwhy u gotta make it weird
@@bloop756 How is a fact weird? There's a reason why they're the most popular ship
@@TheFlowerbeast you're weird. this is a animation/sports channel and you're out here being weird
@@bloop756
Calm down. I don't ship them. I'm just stating a fact. Whether you like it or not, AkashixKuroko is the most popular KNB ship currently. But in Japan, it's still KisexKuroko. KiKuro sells more than 5k doujinshi mangas every year.
Why is a fact making you angry? 😂
Unfortunately, the manga is over and the author seems to have moved on to other works. The movie is a great ending to the anime and came out in 2017. The manga originally ended in semptember 2014, but the author wrote a short sequel titled "Extra Game" from december 2014 to March 2016, which is what was adapted into the movie. After that, he wrote a manga called ROBOTxLASERBEAM, about golf, which ended in 2018 and is currently writing one called Kill Blue, which is about assassins and some other stuff, starting in 2023. I haven't read either, so don't know if they are good. But there doesn't appear to be any plans for a Kuroko sequel
Did they ever make an anime out of the Extram Game?
@@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000 That's the movie. It's called "Kuroko no Basket: Last Game"
It's funny that the author knew nothing about basketball at the start. He even made Kuroko punch the ball (literally). They changed it to the palm in later chapters (and anime), which is the Ignite Pass.
Also, the full court shot of Midorima was obviously an overkill. Guess that the author knew little about the game at that time. It's kinda too OP.
Still, he managed to create a wonderful basketball story.
Again in the french dub after his last basket of this episode Akashi says "it's no use, if you wanna beat Rakuzan come back in a century" I'm kinda sad that some of his most iconic sentences in the french dub don't exist in the original version
Your point about backstories when comparing Haikyuu to KNB is exactly what makes former so unique. Not only the way they show volleyball to the audience is fairly close to reality, but we also have proper time to care about the characters, going way beyond the hero's journey, which paves an amazing way to appreciate all of the matches. Despite finding Karasuno amazing, sometimes I caught myself cheering for the other teams, not gonna lie, because watching a great match and hoping it never ends felt like the achieving the end goal instead of waiting for the victory itself.
22:54 Akashi actually says something more similar to "youre 100 years too early to defeat Rakuzan" 😂😂😂
I wonder what he meant by 100 years too EARLY instead of LATE
@@ElevateYourPowerLevel9000 meaning Seirin as a team is too young and inexperienced to defeat Rakuzan Lololol
thanks Coach 🔥 hope you react to the ova and the movie 💪🏽 like how you point out it’s not as unrealistic as people make it out 🤷♂️ people dislike this anime for being unrealistic but the concept really is the best
is that the end, no way!. haha, the cliffhanger is so intense in this episode. Good Reaction Coach I've been watching since episode 1
"They're gonna come out with something special"
KNB: "Have you forgotten, the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!"
next episode is gonna be the justice izuki deserve. thanks coach for the reaction.
Coach, I’m wondering which series you’re going react to next. It’s been a wild journey through Haikyuu and Kuroko and excited to see what series is next
It's here!!!!
Finally!
The manga ended many yrs ago and very unlikely there will be a sequal. The final part of the story will be the movie.
The old Akashi call people by their last names, the new created personality call people by first name. When Akashi called "kuroko" that's when he knows the old Akashi is back
Direct drive zone is alot like the 2014 "The Beautiful Game" Spurs and the 2016 "73-9" Warriors.
There are even clips comparing Kuroko's Passes to Manu Ginobili's. For example:
Kuroko no basuke vs NBA (Kuroko Tetsuya - Manu Ginobili)
Would the Mavs' 2011 title run also count?
@@Austin1723 I wouldn't say the ball movement was insane, but Dirk was playing out of his mind. Plus the addition of Tyson Chandler made it so you couldnt really afford to double Dirk. They really fortified that roster around Dirk, and it paid off. To quote a comment i saw once "Dirk's 1 ring is greater than Durant's 2."
DIRECT DRIVE ZONE!
yessss!!!!
Also i understand the crowd can have some effect on stamina but the exhausted kagami was able to go right back into zone what a joke.
blue lock after this pleasssssssssss
8:20 It was said previously that even a trained, experienced player can only reach 80% of his full potential. However, Akashi's version of team zone can raise a player's output to 90%.
Also, Kagami's zone lasted for almost 20 minutes in this game. Compare that to the other Miracles who can barely last longer than 4 minutes lol
Kagami lasting so much in zone is pure asspull, considering that he couldn’t last even 10 minutes 2-3 days before.
@@Kal911
Every GoM (or their team) has some kind of plot armor to be fair
@@kyokasuigetsu644 for example? And btw not just Kagami or the others. Kagami understood how mirage shot works because he slipped on sweat, Seirin managed to score the only 2 points against PC Kise because hyuga passed instead of shooting because suddenly his back hurt and he couldn’t complete the shooting motion, Izuki by pure chance performing a perfect pass at the last second to Hyuga, mibuchi missing 2 out 3 free shots after getting fouled, etc…
@@Kal911
"The price of using perfect copy is extreme stamina depletion. Yet, for some reason, the rate at which he's exhausting himself now is lower than it was in the first half"
Touou shutting down Seirin but Yosen couldn't
"The stronger the opponent gets, the better Sakurai's shot making becomes"
Just to name a few.
And ofc Kise being able to copy Midorima is plain BS
And against Kaijo, Seirin just missed a lot of shots against them. PC kise doesn't provides a better defense than Murasakibara does. But Kise's plot Armor includes the fact that no team (or GoM) plays at full power against him
@@kyokasuigetsu644 the reason Kise stamina was dropping less is because he was benched almost the whole game, he would last 5 minutes if he play the whole game. Plus Kise was injured so I wouldn’t call that plot armor, especially since he always lost.
Sakurai getting more accurate is simply pointing that the stronger the opponent the most focused he is, that’s not plot armor.
The reason he copy modorima is that he simply trained to have enough strength to shot from that distance, it’s not that midorima is blessed with insane strength so that only he can pull it off, it’s his precision the point.
Coach... your title drop at 21:06
There will be no new seasons. The story gets a in my opinion satisfying conclusion at the end of the movie.
Also very excited to see what anime you will be checking out next. My personal favorite sports anime has always been Hajime No Ippo because it feels a bit more relateable as an adult since it's not just highschool sport.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
=)
This is one of my favorite episodes of the whole show. Cant wait for the OVA and movie!
Btw i noticed you kept saying "movies" as in theres more than one. I'm pretty sure there are recap movies like haikyuu but unlike haikyuu they dont add anything and are not necessary to watch at all so you can just skip them and only watch Last Game
manga ended. so no more seasons.
that's when we start watching a new show. I wanna suggest the manga that saved basketball in japan, Slam dunk
Why the video isn't in the playlist ?
Sorry! Thanks for catching that, just added it!
He's not "going back to his empathetic self" that's ALREADY his empathetic self.
Oh. And the last line was supposed to say "You're a thousand years early to beat Rakuzan" or something like that.
Hundred. "You're a hundred years too early to beat" Rakuzan. It's a pretty common phrase in Japanese and was put in subtitles in more natural English - and no, "hundred years too early to beat Rakuzan" would not be natural English phrasing.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Certainly top 3 episodes of the anime!! Well, the author making the leading role happen 😒
And the true zone was so dumb. All they did was say hey everyoje else needs to support the ace player. It was still all kagami. Akashi's zone was more true zone than anything
25:50 akashi should have trash talked more to suit his style as a opponent like
sit down i am akashi seijuro i am absolute you morons and end it with - you are far too inexperienced to beat rakuzan
