    Awwwww🥰🥹 Mozzie Man and The Migster! Watching this in Sept of 24. Although i live a thousand miles away, I feel like I knew then. I’m so sorry for their passing. This is the only flaw our pets have. They always leave us too soon. Hugs!

    My mini is 1.5 years and an absolute nightmare at the groomer (we’ve been kicked out of two). I think I e decided to just do it myself - he’ll for sure have a few weird haircuts, but if we can chip away at it at our speed it’s going to make it so much easier in both of us! So glad to have found your home haircut how-tos!

    we have a 10 Year old Schnauzer since 10/01/16. Her name was Marla but she never responded to it. I changed it to Pepper and she must have liked it, as responded immediately! She had been returned from being adopted, I think because she had (has) attitude. she's learning manners and is being instructed by me and our 10 Year old Cockapoo, Bella. it was love at first sight.

    I am SO delighted to find a video of grooming a MS in exactly the way I like! Although my white MS has very fine hair and I shall be using an 7 or 8 blade (I loved your black-and-silver the length he was before you starting shaving, too), your method looks great. I have done my dog many times and am always struggling with the face in particular. I have also had him done many times by professional groomers, but somehow I have never found one that has experience with Schnauzers. So I am now looking forward to watching your next two videos - thanks you very much for your efforts to show your grooming. Kind regards from the UK x

    Popping in to say, Thanks, again, Schnauzer Mom. I gave my Lucy her furcut today following your videos and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. It did turn out a bit too short but my clippers have the attachable combs and the comb fell off so I had to do her back and sides without the comb. Next time, which may be a good 6 months from now as short as it is (lol), I'll be more alert to the comb being on tight. Her eyebrows are a bit lopsided, too. I'm glad that Lucy was a good girl about it all. I learned a lot from the experience and I'm very grateful you did this grooming series. Looking forward to watching more of your boys' videos-they sure do make me smile!

    • @SchnauzerMom
      @SchnauzerMom  8 років тому +1

      +MrsSherry awesome, I'm glad you liked the grooming series. You may want to invest in a pair of clippers that you can change the size of the blade for the length you want instead of using a clipper with guards. It makes grooming much more easier.

  • @tracyd1418

    I do the grooming for my female Mini who looks IDENTICAL to Miggy. In the winter I use a # 7 blade so she keeps a little fur to stay warm and in the summer I use a # 10 blade. I spent the extra money for the Oster Professional grade GOLDEN A5 trimmer and am very glad I did. I always use the higher speed though. The lower speed can not cut well enough. In the summer I trim her ears with a #30 blade to get them well shaved and I scissor the edges like you do. The dogs ears are part of their body's cooling system and keeping them closely shaved helps her in the heat. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH EARS. If you nick one they will bleed profusely (back to that cooling system for their body).
    I also don't shave the top of her nose because we like to have it be somewhat untamed. Looks very cute.

    • @SchnauzerMom
      @SchnauzerMom  8 років тому

      +Tracy Dent I don't shave the top of my boys noses either. Yes you do have to be very careful when cutting ears. I'm thinking of investing in a #30 blade soon. I recently got s #7 and love it. Thanks for watching.

    Hi! great video, really helping me figure out how to trim up my little schnauzer boy. Can i ask what type of clippers you use? I have a kit i bought at walmart, but it doesn't have different blades, just different level of blade guards. the lowest guard doesn't get his back short enough though, and if i take the guard off, the blade ends up getting him too short in patches... Im thinking maybe i just need a better(more professional level?) set of clippers.thanks!

      So happy to hear the videos helped you out. It does take longer at first but you will get faster and more confident every time you groom her. I have a video on nail trimming, I'll link it below. I have not really done one on the legs but sometimes I will use scissors when I want to keep the leg hair long, and I use the clippers when I want to go short. when I clipper cut the legs I still have to go back through with the scissors and get the areas the clippers cant get very well. ua-cam.com/video/nyJQYZXqC0o/v-deo.html

Two and a half hours (and many scratches) later little Zuzu is done. She doesn't look nearly as good as your adorable schnauzers, but I am satisfied. It took three of us to hold her to even attempt her head. I am going to have to invest in a Dog Up stand and a grooming table. I hope that it gets easier.

    I have 2 mini schnauzers and just started grooming them myself. They are 10 & 12 yrs old and both started shaking when I pulled into the parking lot to drop them off for grooming for several months. I worried maybe someone who worked there did something to make them scared so I decided I could groom them and take breaks or spread out over a few days. The 10 yr old, Simon was a rescue and is the nervous one. I found your videos very helpful and I am still in a learning mode. They recently went for their check ups and the vet said they had too much hair in their ears. I thought I was doing the ears ok until I realized I need to go down farther so here is my question. Simon has a thick coat and lots of hair in the ear canal, do I need to clip until there isn’t any hair in the ear canal? Neither have had ear infections and Scottie the oldest doesn’t have a thick coat so I can use my round curved scissors and get all the hair cut in the canal. I really don’t want to pluck the hair because I am sure that would make Simon a nervous wreck. I watched your video again today for ears, your Miggie looks a lot like Simon including the amount of hair. So any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

      I think one of my videos shows how I trim the ears. Of not I will do one when I groom here in the next week or so. Also if your dog does not get ear infections there is no need to pluck the hair because then he may.

      For a few days try just touching and holding his paws while scratching him, giving him treats or feeding him. Touch his nails too, and squeeze his paws like you might if you were trying to clip them.
      When he seems comfortable (might take a week or more) you can try trimming his nails again. It helps if he's on a very short leash (tied to something sturdy) so he can't move much, and it's good to hold his paws in place very firmly. I hope this helps!

    My dog has a straight line because that is what the groomer did when she was with the breeder and I quite like it.

    Good video. I don't groom my mini either to look like the typical show dog mini schnauzer. I groom my Oliver in the way of a terrier look. He still looks a mini schnauzer excluding the pronounced extreme eyebrows or extremely long beard. If I was showing him then yes I would but since his beard would get even more tangled and dirty when he plays around. Id have to groom him many times a day instead of once a week, lol

    Is it possible to groom a mini's hair so short that part of his hair will not grow back? My mini's hair from mid-section to tail will not regrow, and it's been quite a while since I had him groomed. I'm wondering if the lady who cuts his hair didn't cut it so far down that it will not grow back - ever. Has anyone else experienced this?

      Robbie Smith one of my parents dogs ended up getting a skin condition from being at a clinic with random dogs. And that’s how his hair never grew back for like 3 months. It was a yeast infection. I have trust issues so I groom my schapso myself lol.

    Omg she has 4 of them?! How she handle them, I have one and its difficult. Of course grooming and everything I don't do by myself. I wash him and dry, but its impossible to dry his head, idk how she is doing it. My dog hate it:(

    I also own a miniature schnauzer. She was the runt of the litter so she is only about 13 lbs full grown. The first thing I noticed when I decided to watch your video was..........OMGosh!!! She's doing it in her dining room!!!! I know, I know.........just watch the video. But I couldn't help thinking about all the fur flying around. I will not groom my puppy any where near my kitchen nor dining room. It's either outside (warm weather) or downstairs. I can't do it, just can't do it. Any way, thank you for the great video, I learned a lot. Just watch the video, just watch the video, just watch the video............

      +Kathryn Miller I can understand why you feel that way but you don't know how much time I spend cleaning, shop vacuuming, and disinfecting everything when I'm done. My house is small with no basement. I would love to have a big house with a room dedicated to just grooming but it is what it is. I also don't show in the video how I clean up hair immediately when I give them breaks. Maybe that should be a video soon. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks so much for putting these videos together, I have two dogs, mini schnauzer and schnauzer/chihuahua mix and here in NY it costs about $60-$75 per dog and it gets quite expensive. I'm going to start grooming them at home and your videos are a tremendous help! BTW, which model Andis clippers do you use? Thanks again!

      +snakemonkey555 your welcome 😊 I use the andis ultra edge clippers. I believe I have a link for them in the description box below the video.
