  • Every morning when I get ready for work, all is well until I put my jacket on and head downstairs. Buckey gets real angry and doesn't want me to leave as you will see. At the end of the day though he is all to glad to see me and this repeats itself every day.

    I had a dog that would suddenly develop a limp when I was getting ready for work. At first I was worried he was getting arthritis and was planning a trip to the vet on payday, until I realized his limp disappeared as I pulled out of my driveway and only reappeared when I was putting on my work uniform...
    My dog wasn't sick, he was just a drama queen!!

      Lol, sounds like my Player. My daughter would tell us every day. He's hurt, look at his limp. She stopped talking & playing with him when the secret was out. Dogs are characters as well.

      Hilarious! My sister's Jack Russel had the whole fake shiver to get inside down pat. He overplayed it a few too many times and lost all credibility. Second stage hypothermia in 85° weather?

    The thing about mini schnauzers is that you have to outsmart them. And that's hard to do since most of the time they are smarter than their owners.

      mine is pretty obedient and i got him after he was 2 months old, the old owners used to hit him and hate him after they got a child (typical failed parenthood that put baby over pet instead of teaching the pet), he was very shy and destructive at the start tearing stuff apart especially newspaper as he didn't trust me and my family and because the old owners used to hit him with newspapers... but then after a time he became calm and loving, and we give him plushies every month so he can chew and play with something lol

    Look at all of the love a Schnauzer has to give. They are so intelligent, affectionate and loyal. My Charlie gets sad and hides under the table when he sees me grab my purse. He makes me feel so bad but when I return he's at the door waiting with loads of kisses. ♥️💋🐾♥️🐾
    My Charlie passed away 2/27/24 I miss his presence in my life. Schnauzer's make a positive impact in life but when it's time to part it's a dark place until we meet again Charlie.❤🌈💋

Once you have had a schnauzer with their piercing eyes and heart of love it is hard to have another breed of dog, although we love all good dogs. God bless you. Richard and Judy.

      tell me about it. my uncle is a dog trainer and ive been trainig dogs since i was 15....even though i was the guy gettin bit all the time, a mini SCHNAUZER was the first to obedience train....the sad part was that my uncle told me i was goin to train the dog since i talkd about him so much. so after getting all the puppies out to clean their cages and cleaning them them i started....and i was shocked...first because this was the first time i had handled a dog for obedience purposes on leash....and in 5 minutes i had heal, sit, stay, and come down pat....and my uncle was impressed to say the least....the hardest thing to get BRAXTON to do was walk on a leash....but i had a pit that was a year older and i used her to help me with this....and over a 45 minute period over two days using the pit he caught on very quickly. DOWN which is the command that is usually the command to teach thats a lil tricky....i had Braxton goin DOWN on command inside of 3 minutes after showing him just once....im in tears now think about him....it wasnt the money i spent on him.....it wasnt the training i put on him....IT WAS THOSE 9 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS WE HAD TOGETHER, THE LONG WALKS, THE LONG CAR RIDES UP AND DOWN THE EAST COAST, THE STEAKS AT RESTAURANTS I SNUCK HIM INTO, IT WAS ABOUT THE CHICKEN FRIED I WOULD ORDER FOR HIM WHEN I ASKED FOR THE CHECK FOR TEXAS ROADHOUSE, THE 8 PIECE CHICKEN TENDERS FROM CHEDDARS.....AND RIGHT NOW ITS JUST ABOUT HOW I MISS HIM....SCHNAUZERS ARE THE DEFINITION OF LOYALTY....but because of BRAXTON a schnauzer will always be in SHAWN DAVIS' house.....and he was allowed to do whutever he wanted and get on whutever he wanted to get on....he would never get in a chair to get on the kitchen table but he would get on the table with his hind legs on the floor and his front legs on the table. but ANY table that was outside was FAIR GAME....we never put food on the tables outside when hes loose.because he has shown people that if its something up there he wants he will get up there and get it.....MISS YOU B.....and i swear im naming my STANDARD SCHNAUZER BRAXTON too....B was BRAXTONS nick name....this one will be B2.....fuck yea.....IM SORRY FOR THE RANT.....i was in myself at the moment....

      @@shawndavis4015your posting was a little long, but I read it all. I have a miniature Schnauzer, that's 13 years old now. I've had him for less than two years, but it seems like I've had him all his life. I'm very attached to him. I too with all of my pets have always fed them what I'm eating. I know some people say you shouldn't, and if you do, they expect you to do it every time. But I wanted to make any pet I had, dog or cat a companion.

    Separation anxiety is a problem with schnauzers sometimes. After a year or so mine got used to it and it helped having a second dog in the house that was ok with my coming and going (half poodle /half schnauzer). The schnauzer settled into sleeping while I was away.

    My family and I just lost our mini, named Sophie, last week. I miss her waiting at the door for me with her little butt wag... We used to joke that she thought she was my wife, because anytime I kissed or hugged my wife, Sophie would get so jealous and angry. She always slept at my feet at night. I’ve had many dogs through my life, but losing her was by far the hardest.

    The event of leaving or coming is getting too much importance and the dog is dwelling on it. Do not give the dog great praise when you come home or even a lot of attention when you are leaving. If your wife could walk him at the same time you are leaving, even if it is a very short walk, the dog will not focus on you. You need to be ignored.
    Separate the dog when he misbehaves. He is getting much too much attention and he is not dealing with it well. You will calm the dog if you give him less focus. A dog really needs to be calm and not the center of attention. Turn your back, put him away but let him stay with you when he is calm.

      +marie hellman the sad thing about this is that they encourage it. they dont want it to change. they think its cute. they love the attention just as much as bucky appears to. but bucky is stressed when dad leaves and that cant be good.

    • @susieblu4152
      @susieblu4152 5 років тому +3

      marie hellman correct, it’s not cute, it’s obviously stressful for the dog and they need to help their dog work around this. It’s really not kind to the dog and looks like it serves only to make the owners feel extra loved. Help the dog not feel this stress.

    Is Buckey treat motivated like my 2 minis ? If so then maybe its time to try making you leave a good thing(or at least bearable) - give him a treat before leaving, but not before earning it (aka doing tricks such as sit, stay, roll over). If your mini is anything like mine, he will be too busy worried about the treat then you leaving.

    • @OttoinCO

      Buckey loves treats but I'm not sure that we could get him to like me leaving every day. I will say as he has aged he has calmed down somewhat and I might have slightly over dramatized things a little for the video but he still barks at me most mornings.

    • @amaiaalissa8466
      @amaiaalissa8466 8 років тому +2

      The treats do work. My mini used to be like that, now whenever he sees me getting ready for work he is expecting the treat. He stays right by the food storage door to remind me of his treats. And he goes to his treats and his toys and ignores me as I leave.

    I know your video has been here for a while but.... Bucky is obviously suffering from separation anxiety not really anger. Get him a special treat and only give it to him when you are leaving. Make a big deal about the treat and not about you leaving. Don't say things like "gotta go to work or see you tonight" or anything else. My dog had separation anxiety so I got her pigs ears (small ones) called them "good girl bones" and magically no problems. Good luck!!

Whether you deal with bratty kids, criminals or illness whatever energy you encounter comes home with you and animals are very sensitive to this. This dog is your best friend. Please find a way to show him the kindness of expressing appreciation for his concern and see what happens. peace and joy to you and your family.

      I seriously doubt that he's getting any bad vibes from my work, most of what I do is on the phone with adults who are law abiding citizens. He seriously just wants me to stay home. When I get home it's the same thing every day, lots of love. He used to exhibit some destructive behavior from separation anxiety when he was younger but he got over that. Now if he is home alone all is well but that's rare because we take him with us whenever possible.

    • @OttoinCO
      @OttoinCO  6 років тому +1

      Buckey is aging well, thank you for asking. Most mornings he still doesn't like me leaving for work but he isn't quite as dramatic any longer. And he still gets very happy when I come home at night. Some people don't realize the video was loosely scripted and edited. We rarely ever used the spray bottle and with time his anxiety decreased dramatically. Early on he clearly had separation anxiety but for years now we can leave him alone in the house for hours at a time, with free range in the home, and he's been well behaved.

    These are not anger issues, but excitement issues that you- as the owner have encouraged and exacerbated because it makes you feel good and "important" to your dog.
    He quite obviously watches you for cues to tell him when he should "be angry" and you could have easily curbed it by a) modifying your daily routine so he does not get triggered by those cues or b) calming him down and stopping him from engaging in unhealthy behaviors when you notice them rather than going along and blaming him for habits that you have created in him.
    Bad owner. Not bad dog.

    • @mj3610
      @mj3610 9 років тому +4

      spikkiy Spot on... These are behaviours you've created for the dog yourself, as a general rule it's better not to make a big deal out of you leaving or entering the house (by saying Hi or Bye or in this case "I Love You") as these are cues which promote unhealthy attachments and seperation anxiety. You need to be dominant and in control of your dog, and hitting your dog is certainly NOT the most effective way by all means...

    there are the dogs breeds and schnauzers. Schnauzers are like unique type of personality, I got one, she always stares at me at the door when I go to work, and wave her tail and sees me like "I miss you" but no barking or any fuss...the thing is when I get home, she jumps around, wave her tail and goes to greet me...then she forgets I'm in and goes to play with her toys. They may be small, but their hearts are incredibly...big. haha

      thats disrespectful and should be ashamed for telling that lie....SCHNAUZER hearts arent big, A SCHNAUZER'S HEART IS MOTHER EFFN HUGE!!!! they do not care....i thought it was women because he actually belonged to a gf i had at the time. a woman couldnt touch or hug me....or so i thought....until a good friend who i hadnt seen in years hugged me hit me a few times and he had a fit....i was actually glad he wasnt a big breed dog because i had to stop him from biting my homie.....AND HE NEVER LIKED THAT GUY....EVERYONE WAS COOL EXCEPT HIM...BRAXTON wouldnt even allow him to touch unless i held him...and even then it was a constant growl and he would give me a look that told me he didnt like this guy one bit.....so i kept the guy away....i seriously hope i dont spoil the next one like i did with him.....

      Just Jack hey guys I have a question. Do you think that it still was worth it getting a dog given the grief you must have felt over their deaths? Why get a dog if they bring us lots of joy but also so much pain when they pass? I don’t mean to be harsh or rude, I am just genuinely curious because I am contemplating getting a dog myself and this question has been bugging me.

    • @actocs

      @@TheLegendTheLegend-ph9fs I'm not sure how to answer that...I swore I wouldn't get another one because I can't take the pain of losing her. But 6 months later I bought another Miniature Schnauzer puppy. Right now I'm waiting for her to grow up enough so she's ready to take away from her mother. The pain of grieving is still there and will be for a long time. Even so...I wouldn't trade the time that I spent with my dogs.

    I completely understand. My very first dog was the most wonderful Miniature Schnauzer. He was with my husband and I for 13 years 5 months and 8 days. He went over the Rainbow Bridge on September 4, 2019. He was my very first dog in my life and I am a senior citizen. With tears rolling down my cheeks as I type, I know you understand. I thank God for such a loyal, loving and unconditional love he gave us. His name was Ashton Anthony Harris. I pray my heart will heal.

    My last mini Schnauzer’ was named Jasmine. She was the sweetest most endearing dog and we were crazy close too❣️ After she passed it felt like I lost a family member. It was so hard on me. I still choke up whenever I think about her because of missing her. However, I rescued a Toy Poodle who had been abused. Saved his life and have had him 5 years now. He will be my last dog. But, I have loved all my dogs over the years and know how much they enrich our lives. And we enrich theirs❣️⭐️

      But it’s not sad at all. Your dog can still sense you and now is completely free and having the time of his life!! Once you know this the sadness doesn’t need to be. I talk to my dog regularly. I don’t hear him talk back but I know full-well he’s aware I talk to him. My uncle visited me sensorily at his funeral, would you believe… and after my dog passed a similar experience happened. The next state is very real. No need to doubt that and no need to be sad. Be happy for your dog. Your dog is elated!

    Lovely breed, but it needs training. - Do not allow this little dog to develop Small Dog Syndrome, human induced behaviors where the dog runs the home. This can cause a varying degree of behavior problems, including, but not limited to SEPARATION ANXIETY, being willful, nervous, barky, guarding, bold, sometimes temperamental....

    • @oreopuppiez5033

      We had to rehouse our dog due to him being aggressive and he bit one of my family. We soon recognised he had Small Dog Syndrome after rehousing him as he always ran the house. He wouldn’t let us touch him with his treats, he’d sometimes try to bite your hands if you tried to touch his toys. He is called Fudge. He is a Lhasa Apso but any small dog can get it.
