MrNickTube1 Think of it as the first widely known Mario fan fiction or a precursor to the sea of flash cartoon parodies and homages to the franchise that began popping up in the early-2000s.
Despite the hate and rotten views...i enjoyed this classic film and the song is fire...thanks George Clinton, and i enjoyed the two actors playing Mario and Luigi!
this is a Was Not Was song. i had no idea george clinton covered it for the movie with the alternate lyrics. Not surprised he did though considering all the involvement in early 90s Hollywood movies he had. He was in all kinds of stuff as cameo appearances.
There's plenty of fun music still being made that doesn't take itself overly seriously, and just has fun. Weird Al comes immediately to mind, and I know he's not the only one out there still making music. ^-^
for people who didn't get to live the 90s this has to be one of the greatest movies to remind us of all the fun the 90s had. the twin towers in the movie remind you how worry free we were versus today's years. I was only two years old when this movie was released.
I'm 24 years old, smoking weed & watching crazy awesome 90s music videos from crazy shitty 90s movies that I was, for some reason, fascinated by, as a kid... life is weird.
Despite the negative criticism I enjoyed the movie and while it's not completely like the game but it did the best they could and i welcomed it, and the song kicks ass very funky.
This is better than the original. I'm not an expert on the genre of music, but it seams to more wholeheartedly embrace funk rather than trying to sound pop-rock for terrestrial radio consumption. The video more wholeheartedly embraces the silliness of the song and is much more creative with both its original and B-movie stock footage. The chick is genuinely hot and can really dance unlike the females from the original video. She also apparently does backing vocals.
I actually like this version better than the original Was (Not Was) version. I first heard a kid-friendly version of it in the VHS "Disney Sing-Alongs: Flik's Musical Adventure", and that's how I first learned of this awesome song. At least the Mario movie is best at something here--best Walk the Dinosaur cover.
If I knew that the Goombas were capable of getting down like this, I wouldn't have smashed them when I played Super Mario Brothers. I would've gotten my groove on with them. But oh well, I didn't know...
What do I want from the movie? Well Bowser to be something "Bowserish" for one. Personally, I never pictured the bad guy from Waterworld as Bowser. But that's just me.
Why is this slapping now? Loving this gem - I love coming from the future just to remember such a specific and memorable moment this awful film made on me. But the music, fucking legendary.
"Walk the Dinosaur" is a song by Was (Not Was) released in 1987, from their album "What Up, Dog?" The music video featured four scantily clad 'cavewomen' dancing while a Flintstones-style TV played clips from Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur. Modern people danced to the song during the "Everybody kill the dinosaur" part. The song reached No. 7 on the US chart in 1989, two years after its UK success and became the band's biggest hit single in their home country. According to an interview with co-writer Randy Jacobs, it "was an infectious sing-along with a Flintstonesque video that probably got played on MTV way too much. But even that seemingly good-time anthem had a dark side. [...] The song's about nuclear Armageddon. It became a dance (anthem) because of the video.
omg, you're right.. i... man... how did i think he was dead? i've thought he was dead for years, i even used to tell people i was really glad to see him in concert before he died...
this song is the song that is the theme song from the movie "superm Mario Bros" which was the first character when the Nintendo NES was invented by a Japanese in the decade of the eighties
does ANYONE have an mp3 of this? (not a youtube rip, like off the CD?) i used to SMB soundtrack on cassette when i was little, and id listen to this track every day!
omg John Leguizamo has been in two movies that was affiliated with a cover of "Walk the Dinosaur" (Mario Bros. Movie & Ice Age lol)
Maybe that’s his favorite song.
Perhaps it is?
Disney owns both
If he had nickels for everytime this has happened he would have two nickels but it's weird it's happened twice.
This is fhe best Mario bros version that worthy of a video game
I never knew there was such a thing as too much acid... Then I opened the door, got on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur.
I loved the Super Mario Bros. movie and it's sci-fi Dystopian semi-Cyberpunk re-imagining of the concept. The set design was fantastic.
the super mario bros. movie could be awesome, if they didn't try to make it more profitable by putting MARIO on it.
MrNickTube1 Think of it as the first widely known Mario fan fiction or a precursor to the sea of flash cartoon parodies and homages to the franchise that began popping up in the early-2000s.
AlwaysLookCool 729 it’s online
I'm in this club- the movie was really cool for all the reasons you've stated.
The set designer was the same guy from Blade Runner.
I don't want to hear anyone say that nothing good came from the Super Mario Bros. movie ever again.
I must have seen that movie a hundred times when I was a kid.
me too, still holds a place in my heart
Despite the hate and rotten views...i enjoyed this classic film and the song is fire...thanks George Clinton, and i enjoyed the two actors playing Mario and Luigi!
Forever I’ll remember
this is a Was Not Was song. i had no idea george clinton covered it for the movie with the alternate lyrics. Not surprised he did though considering all the involvement in early 90s Hollywood movies he had. He was in all kinds of stuff as cameo appearances.
This song suddenly popped up in my head the other day and it took me forever to remember where I've heard it before! XD

Awesome song from a fun and highly entertaining Mario Bros movie.
When I watched the movie, I didn't realize this was a newer version of an older song.
There are so many songs that are new versions of old songs..
It's. A bad version of a great song.
@@TheMochan555 Honestly, this was the first version of this song I heard, and to me, THIS is the song. Love this version.
Yeah This Was Not Was Not Was.
If I ever become a teacher, I'll show my students this just because it's that awesome.
I'm 24 years old, smoking weed & watching crazy awesome 90s music videos from crazy shitty 90s movies that I was, for some reason, fascinated by, as a kid... life is weird.
i hope 10 years later you're now straight and not doing that nonsense.
George Clinton: everyone’s favorite rainbow-haired, crack smoking grandpa.... (and a total genius)
i dont know but i like this movie.
Its a great movie and i watched it so often
Tom F I agree, I LOVE it! I personally think it's pretty underrated. Playing this song at my wedding. Both me and my fiancee and I love it!
My favorite movie also.
Didn't know this existed, I always knew the version by WasNotWas......Hard to choose my fav......
This version is just as funky as the original...love the groove.
I mean... it's George... it's nothing but the funk.
it's not bad. the guitar bits are better i think. the music itself is definitely superior but the vocal and lyrics are better on the original.
This movie was good. I mean it had a good cast like Bob Hoskins, Dennis Hopper and John Leguizamo I enjoyed it.
How did this not win a Grammy?
Great song for a decent movie. Love the 90's
Despite the negative criticism I enjoyed the movie and while it's not completely like the game but it did the best they could and i welcomed it, and the song kicks ass very funky.
It's good because it's George Clinton. 'Nuff said.
We need to bring Funk music back!
This is better than the original. I'm not an expert on the genre of music, but it seams to more wholeheartedly embrace funk rather than trying to sound pop-rock for terrestrial radio consumption.

True
Ol George still got it and is still continuing to do it . Go my brother do you!!!
This song gives me super powers.

can't... stop... watching.
I loved this when I was a child
1993 was the year of the dinosaur!
The sax in this song reminds me of John Lennon's "Whatever Gets You Through The Night". :)
The effects and editing back then was so fabulous
My 2 favorite things, p funk and Nintendo games.
so cheesy, so 90's, I love it!
Even though the movie flopped, I love it and this song is great!!!
I'm starting to feel the same. And this version sounds better than the original version and Queen Latifah's.
The Super Mario Bros. movie is so goofy but so much fun! ^__^
They should get this song and John Leguizamo in the Mario movie 2
0:45 4 the epicness
everybody mario fan ever: THAT IS NOT A GOOMBA!!!
I'm going to dance to this at my wedding.
holy god the 90s.
If I knew that the Goombas were capable of getting down like this, I wouldn't have smashed them when I played Super Mario Brothers. I would've gotten my groove on with them. But oh well, I didn't know...
I love this song. Super Mario Bros forever!
Hell nah, let GeeZee walk the dinosaur while shining his flashlight of truth and justice...
Super Mario Bros Movie, best viewed HIGH
GO LONG LUIGI! ;)
I'm not big on the movie but the soundtrack kicked butt!! I still own the CD.
0:04
- "I'MA FIRIN' MAH LAZOR!"
the real Super Mario Bros. movie
not even just music videos. Look at 90's commercials and early 2000 commercials compared to now.
Great...Just about as good as the original!
it's all fun and games till my mum did open my door and catch me doing the 'Dinosaur'
cant help but like this song
What if we have this on the sequel of 2023 Super Mario Bros? It would fit as a nice Yoshi's entrance theme.
I’d be in tears of joy at the theaters , like those ppl who passed out at Michael Jackson concerts
best version
George Clinton is so awesome-looking.
If you looked up the word "badass" in the dictionary, you will find a picture of George Clinton.
What do I want from the movie?
Well Bowser to be something "Bowserish" for one. Personally, I never pictured the bad guy from Waterworld as Bowser. But that's just me.
Hahahaha, this was also in IceAge II.... I knew I remembered this one!
Good song, good movie! Thanks for posting!
Up until 2008, this song was the only thing I remembered from the Super Mario Bros. Movie.
yesss mario brothers!!! have the film @ home on VHS...love dis song!!!
Oh wow, my childhood...
I can't believe this song with some many covers done, is originally from the awful Mario bros movie!! My mind is blown.
I want this song played at my funeral.
love this mario
Why is this slapping now? Loving this gem - I love coming from the future just to remember such a specific and memorable moment this awful film made on me. But the music, fucking legendary.
:) i love this song and the movie!!
Was (Not Was) sent me here!
These head bobbing Iguanas are so fucking adorable. 😍😍😍
They fucked my childhood up when they made that movie. I was about 12 when it came out on VHS.
I like to think that they just left George Clinton in a studio for thirty minutes and this was the result.
This Music is *AMAZING!!!*
Super Mario brow Brought me here
