@@jessyhavron2548 Those two statements contradict each other. They do give you lots of time to get out, and they are hard to put out because they burn slowly and generally give people a lot of warning before a fire can spread to adjoining compartments. In almost all cases, after an EV fire you will see that most of the body isn't destroyed and the paint isn't even blistered. It's PCFFFs that go up in flames very quickly, give a person no time to get out, and incinerate everything but the bare metal. They go out faster because they burn so much faster and hotter.

It does appear to be a stock Tesla wheel. It was never stated in the piece what kind of car was involved, and the bystander discussing "roaring engines" was no help in that regard. Though we see "Tesla" in the video title, TV viewers would never have known unless they recognized the one leftover wheel.
A traditional burnt car leaves a recognizable metal husk behind. It is curious how these Teslas seem to be almost entirely consumed. You would hardly even know it was a car at one point. Interesting.

The death was unintentional and assuming he was under the influence, the death was a result of his recklessness but there were no intent behind. Yes, it sucks that he is the kind of guy who drove at an insanely reckless speed along a 30mph zone which we can assume he was going at least 70mph++ and crashed into an object. Tesla's has a well built frame and doesn't easily crumbled so the speed required needed to be beyond reckless. The crappy part is that they also had friends following (reckless driving) them as well and the moment the tesla burst into flame. They basically took him but never bother to tried and help the occupants of the other vehicle. It was the pedestrians around that helped. Were these individuals aware of such reckless and past and present behavior...maybe because the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I meant that people usually hang around their own circles of people and they often already know those individuals and some of the reckless behavior they may display but still accept it as normal. Do I feel bad for the victim? 🔥 THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN RV BURNING AND A REGULAR CAR BURNING 🔥 When a regular car catches fire, it's not as intense it as rapid. Also, it is relatively easy for a fire crew to extinguish
When an EV burns, it tends to burn much more intensely. The fire is very difficult to stop (Look at the footage in this video. Even as the fire men are spraying water, the fire rages). The fire is much more resistant to being extinguished.
Also, even after being extinguished, an EV can spontaneously reignite.

In 2020 their were 199,533 gas car fires in wrecks. Their were 53 EVs that caught fire. Which do you think got more media attention?

@@amxaas4450 Your assumption that it happens "rarely" is just wrong. Look it up. I.C.E vehicles catch fire in crashes at more than 10x the rate of EVs. It quite literally happens all the time. It is just that there are SO MANY vehicles on the road, and so many crashes daily that the small percentage that do lead to fires is fairly small in comparison. The average person rarely sees a vehicle fire, but they happen somewhere multiple times per day. I myself have witnessed 7 I.C.E vehicle fires in my life that were caused by spilled fuel and/or electrical faults.

There needs to be a suppression system built into EVs in case a fire breaks out at any time. A system that can smother the fire but doesn't affect the occupants of the EV. Or a system that gives the occupants time to leave the EV, if possible.

The rear seat passengers may not have known about the emergency door handles that have to be used when power to the door fails.
In a panic, people pull the handle in front of them, not some alternate handle they may not even know about.
The same thing can happen if the rear door handles are disabled to keep kids from opening the door.

Tesla quality standards don't exists. Proper battery construction and well built fire suppression/cooling systems would have mitigated this. The driver obviously has a lot of the blame here as well.
