I learned how to process turkeys from this video 3 years ago. Since then I’ve held a free processing workshop at my house every year for anyone who wanted to learn. I held a workshop today. Taught my friends and neighbors how to get it done. Thanks again. 😢
Yall sparked our passion way back in 2018. Now after 100s of meat birds were harvesting our turkeys this morning Oct,23,2022. Thank you Mark Jill and familia!
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for taking the time to make this video to teach the next generation of aspiring homesteaders. Chickens are so easy but Turkeys seem like a whole other sport.
Thank you for the great information. Just out of curiosity why do you let the others watch? I would think it would cause adrenaline and cause the meat to taste different. Of course I haven't been doing it for 15 years so I could be wrong it's just a thought. I know adrenaline will sure make a cow or elk taste weird.
Ah, ok. So I need to hang my cone differently and guide the head in. I bought an expensive cone for my turkeys and tried it for the first time today. He got himself flipped around and jumped out!
That kicker should have warned you. And requested a double thickness bucket. Those are nice size birds. Do you run turkeys through a chicken plucker? Or is the weight prohibitive?

That is awesome! Good for you!
Pretty interesting tips. This will be my first year doing Turkeys and Meat Birds (chickens). Great to get out of the city and into the farmland.

Excellent! Love hearing when the information gets used. Thanks for sharing!
This is what I needed thanks! Doing 13 first timer.
WOW - had no idea that turkey were that powerful (to kick a hole in the side of a bucket)! Great info in this vid Mark - thanks.
How long do you let it bleed before you scald and pluck?

Well, that's always exciting! And not in a good way. Glad this was helpful!
Nice set up

Very interesting, thanks! The largest turkey I have roasted was 22 lbs. What all do you do with such a huge bird?
We usually cut it in pieces, brine and smoke it. There's nothing better! Thanks for watching!
