I love the CLA 2A from waves..but the CLA 2A for vocal give a Extra Peak to signal..btw what your recommendation headphone for mixing or mastering for a budget bedroom producer like me ??

The one thing I would have appreciated in your two History of Compressors videos is what they are most famous for. Of course you can run anything through these units, but I'm guessing they are most famous for being used on certain instruments, vocals, etc. Sure, that's debatable, but I'd love to hear your personal take on this. Totally appreciate your knowledge.

I personally use them for acoustic guitars and vocals, which for me personally, is where the la-2a shines the best.

Hey David, appreciate the history lesson! Curious on your thoughts about the Distressor's opto mode, and the LA-2A, and if you've ever A and B'd between the two? Similar? Completely different? I've unfortunately haven't had the chance to work with a LA-2A yet, but I do have a Distressor and use the Opto mode fairly often on vox, bass, acoustic, etc.
I guess I should say "Opto settings" not mode, apologies
The distressor is one of my absolte favorite comps, and the opto mode is amazing but quite different from the 2A. Similar in action and a great opto style on its own but yeah, different overall
My Dad had 4 LA-2As in his 4 track studio in the 70's and 80's, one each per input channel, after Shure mixers. In the late 80's when he retired the studio he sold those, I don't know what he got for them.
He left an LA-3A, 4 Altec 9062A EQs, and another similar EQ but with a silver face. Ignorant me gave all those away, thinking that "they are old, new stuff must be better." Doh!!!
I'm sure he didn't get as much as you would todays but how do you even know? This goes for everything. The 3A is the least expensive and the Altecs, you could get some but not much, the graphics never were so popular
@@mixbustv Yes. I didn't care about the EQs, though I have seen at least one for sale with asking price around $4K. But the LA-3A would be nice to have.

Hi David , another subjet , it is about the console Softube. i don't know if you always have it . One question about the Master Track : i don't manage to select a Track As Master in Console ! So when i solo one track , the master track is muted too !! Lol ... Thank you !
