I feel so fortunate to have gotten to spend nearly a whole day and most of the night with Charlie I audition to play guitar for him in 2004 He would give his opinion in a new york minute but what a caring and giving man he truly was,I have about15 CD's he gave me I will cherish forever... gave them to me.....He also got my wife and I backstage to the Opry I felt so blessed to have known this great man!!!.
I was lucky enough to call Charlie a good friend for several years, and my wife and I were visiting with him backstage at the Opry the night this video was made. Singing with Charlie on this one is Steve and Debbie Wilkerson, very talented husband and wife team, and also friends. Charlie performed this song one night on the Opry and got Mister Roy Acuff, the man who wrote the song, to come out and sing along. That night Jennifer and Terry were working with Charlie, and we were visiting then also. Hal Wayne, who owned Hal-Kat Music, produced this song, and for those that don't know, there is a great video of it floating around somewhere. They ran it on CMT back then, but I've not been able to find it in recent years.
I got to go backstage opry. I spent a whole day with Charlie in 2004 @ His home in Manchester Tn. He lived inside a mountain....I was going to play lead for him a wonderful man!.

Over the years Charlie had several talented people singing with him, sometimes billed at the Trio. The young lady on this video is Lisa Carey, and the young man singing tenor is Terry Hampton. I know, I was there. Before Lisa and Terry, there was Terry and Jennifer O'Brien, and after Terry and Lisa left, Steve Wilkerson and his wife became the Trio. Steve is a very talented singer and musician, and later sang this song in many performances with Charlie, but on this particular video it's Terry. We were very good friends with Charlie and have been backstage at the Opry many times, and we've seen all of these singers working with him. By the way, this record was recorded on the HALKAT Label, which was owned by Hal Wayne, who also produced this song and the video. Hope that helps. """"

Charlie Louvin passed away today at the age 0f 83, one of the legendary ones. May light perpetual shine upon him.
