Interesting stuff about trail building. The Chattooga River portion is so pretty. I should have passed you on this day, going the other way, but I don't remember it. Either we just exchanged hellos, or maybe I got to Burrell's Ford Road before you came up from King Creek Falls and crossed it. I went to the parking lot and then down the campground road, so we might not have encountered each other. I camped at Burrell's Ford that night and also set up a tarp to partially cover my tent. I also kept hoping for a break in the rain that evening to do stuff. Didn't happen, did it? 😅
I remember passing several people going the opposite way on this day! It's possible we saw each other, or just missed each other like you said. I didn't stop at the parking lot at all. Yeah, I eventually had to give up on waiting for the rain to die down!
I'll confess too that after talking to you and seeing that you stayed reasonably dry, I also began dreaming about hammocks. I had started with one but decided it was too heavy so I switched back to tents. I love tents for ease of setting up and it seems that hammocks take longer to set up, and you don't have the option of staying in shelters. I'll probably keep with the tent setup I have for now but I can see why you were popular! Very nice meeting you on the Foothills Trail!
You can get a hammock setup close to that of a tent. It’s pricey to do so but man is it worth the sleep and relaxation. I think my winter setup in a hammock for 20 degree temps is like 3-4 pounds for the total package.
One of us! One of us! Haha. But I understand why some people choose tents. It can be pricey to get an ultralight hammock setup. You should use what you're most comfortable with! It was so nice meeting you too!
That would be so cool! The company is Terra Hiker, but it looks like most of their stuff is currently unavailable on Amazon, which is where I originally bought the poncho. I will have to do more research into the company and see what the deal is.
@@HikingwithJenny I also have a Terra Hiker poncho just like that, but mailed it back in Daleville. I had stopped using it because I found it didn't work on the windy days very well.
I've had that poncho since my Long Trail days in 2021! Haha. It is an excellent poncho. Only since finishing my AT hike has some of the water proofing worn off. I've gotten so much value out of it! I might see if I can reinforce the waterproofing somehow.
That is great how you helped everyone with all their questions and needs. Your Awesome
It was so rewarding to help people out on trail!

Yes, dip your toes into the world of hammocks. Come join us off the ground!

@@HikingwithJenny I'll be heading down to GA March first to start my hike to Main. Should be interesting with the trees :)
@@Lucitt13 awesome! You won’t have any trouble finding trees to hang from!
Glad you stayed warm and dry! That outtro with the rain and thunder sounded so nice.
I'm guessing the bucket is to prevent the water from digging a big hole in the ground.
I was thinking as another commenter about that poncho. You should do a video for that company as a promo & get a sponsorship perhaps for your hikes.

All the cool kids camp with a hammock... 😉
Haha! Hammocks are the best!
Hope you got a break in the rain.
Looks like your blue rain poncho has held up exceedingly well! Didn't you buy that at Mountain Crossings?

I gave this a thought. Mb recoat the worn areas using a clear silicone 2 caulk thinned with mineral spirits. Just a thought. @HikingwithJenny
