10:00 "Is this theory?" really got me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the English I switched from London to English and its great because at 1200 players are waaaay less knowledgeable. When I was playing London people routinely had 10 moves deep of prep and I wasn't strong enough to get winning chances.
I started rewatching this awesome series. Not too much content out there about English opening, and this is the most entertaining. Very educational at my level around 1500 rapid.
3. ... Qxd5 - 7:01
Four Knights Line - 9:01
d4 vs early Bc5 - 19:44
Noice
For the boys
Should invent a Canadian opening. Probably involves downing a few shots before the game and then randomly selecting a pawn to push.
1. 5 shots of maple syrup
2. Ra2
Canadian opening is where you only move the knights
@@LK25278 1. Rxa2!

This is called the Valintinian
after watching the first game I went and tried the english. It went exactly the same way, haha. Except they immediately hung their rook after I got their queen.
Yep that'll happen. Lately I've soured on the e3 pin trap. It's two pretty important minors for the queen along with a major light square weakness along the h1 a8 diagonal. Converting the game after that can be more work than you'd think. I have lost at least one notable game where I won the queen in the opening in this way.
The spidey sense clip lol
Great series! One of the best
Loving this English Speedrun!!!!! Picking up a lot of tactics from it thus far. Solid!
The music in this episode is insane, please start posting full track lists!!
Most of the songs are present in their spotify playlists
Dude, at 1:48, e3 allowing PxN for Bb5 pinning the Q to the K - is - the -best - move!! (per my iPhone’s lichess analysis 🤣🤷🏻♂️)
Aman knows that but was thinking about whether it would be as instructive as something less tricky and tactical
Love the opening and series. Educational and hilarious.
Hey, you do a great job explaining your thoughts. Very instructional for beginners trying to learn some basic openings.
I’m currently watching through your London speedrun…but I need an opening for black.
I imagine a black speed run is tricky since you can’t predict your opponent’s first move.. so maybe a joint speed run against common d4 or e4 first moves. Maybe like a Caro-Kann defence and a King’s Indian Defense joint speed run would be amazing. Would love to see something like that.
Cheers and keep it up!
Aman already done King’s Indian speedrun for black and also for white!
Their caro works for me great
this was the funniest chess video I've seen in quite a long time!!!😆
“If you really really want to make your opponent look bad” (game 1) I won an 11 move game in that line just a couple of days ago
Got the queen, forked king and rook and ended up checkmating with his king on on a8 when he walked his king into the corner trying to get my knight. Funny that you played e3 and then the opponent managed to blunder twice by playing Re3.
@@seanhunter111 Making me not wanna play Resident Evil 3 now guys :P
Great content. Great music.
How high will this speedrun go? Would love to see games in the 1800+ range.
He got the account to over 2300 during the run but I don’t know if the games above 2000 will be shown, the series might end about 2k
@@loafes1352 do you know where I can find the vod, if it is still available?
After Bb5 he's like What Tha?
@chessbrah in your next video, could you do a setup where you go ne2 and attack on the f-file?
I played London. Opp castles queen side. After a few moves , I took a pawn with a knight. Analysis said inaccuracy, could have won a pawn if I took with the bishop. So I had to settle for checkmating him after two more moves.
Does anyone know the name of the song at 18:20?
19:00 peak Aman satisfaction
Hey Aman I puzzled as to why you didn't include the French part in this Speedrun , also I've been watching the Speedrun on your VODs channel but I can't find the start from 800 the first one I've been able to find is Jan 12 from 1100 which one is from 800 please
Yeah I thought maybe they couldn't find a good title so it was going to be the English and French speedrun separately but we are on ep4 here and no ep1 for French. Maybe they put out first the English and after its finished then the French?
I was referring to the videos on their VODs channel I found the Jan 12 one which starts at 1100 but can't find the first one from 800 as referred to in the videos
I really enjoy your wit.
WHEN episode 5?! I need it!!
@2:20 what is the name of that song?!
Anyone know the song that’s on at 9:10? They really need to start posting the music they use lol
Their playlists contain majority of songs, lounge and techno
6:06 Bahhaahhahahahahahaha Brilliant.

6:35 ur killin me over here😭
Idk why this English speedrun is so damn confusing compared to all the other ones :/ is it just me? Compared to the Fianchetto and KIA speedrun this feels like trying to decode an ancient unknown language, I honestly can not recognize a single pattern after move 5-6 it's feels like a different opening each time :/ anyone else feel this way about this Speedrun thus far?
I started playing 6 months ago and I only play the KIA setup as white and 1.B6 Fianchetto as black and these two openings got me to 960 Rapid / 700 Blitz. Hopefully I'll start noticing some kind of recognizable pattern soon. Thank you so much Aman
The English is super flexible compared to the setup-based openings you mentioned before. Opponents can play a lot of different things against it so it's a lot harder to consistently play the same ideas as something like the fianchetto openings. It's normal to have a harder time playing flexible openings for everyone, but the flexibility is so valuable in the long term for your chess knowledge so it's worth studying.
Dude, the English is great, as long as u can slide effortlessly into about 5 other major openings… come back when you’re over 2000 (I’m not being rude - I’m 1600 and it’s too much for me 🤷🏻♂️👍🏽🙏)
@@mcronrn 2000 rating is basically considered Expert I don't ever recall Chessbrah stating that you have to be an expert level chess player to learn openings, on the contrary its often mentioned how many of these lines snd tactics work best around 1000. I'm pretty sure all of these speedruns are designed to benefit beginners and intermediate level players. I'm 40 years old and started playing chess 6 months ago my goal isn't to become a master and start winning tournaments lol
It's really two major branches of opening. e5 is reverse sicilian, reverse hyper accelerated dragon in the move order Aman is using. It's common for english players to learn the sicilian or sicilian players to pick up the english for this reason. Second branch is queen's gambit style openings. I played queen's gambit for several years prior to learning the english so it was a comfortable addition to my repertoire. There is a third branch but black can't force it: the Botvinnik setup. That pawn structure is something white has available if they want. I don't recommend it for those new to the english as it's a lot of counter-intuitive maneuvering. I only play it to counter one specific move order from black.
@@stoutlager6325 thanks to your reply I actually think I now understand what I was confused about. I haven't played the Sicilian or quenns gambit but I've seen and read a bunch about it and now that I think about it it's making more and more sense. Thank you for this (: *takingnotes*
That guy in the game has to be the worst 900 i've ever seen lmao
BUDDY!!
We have seen this episode before.
But was that on the extra channel?
12:12 did he just say "meth" ?
