I've always considered each instrument in the Dead to represent different personalities in various groups, be they animals or humans or whatever. Phil's definitely the commanding voice of the group, while Jerry represents the wacky uncontrollable one, Bob's the quiet yet ferocious one, and the drummers are just like a tag team that supports everyone else.
Then....like the cool breeze after and before a hella storm it just totally cools out and grooves chill pulse and mellows out into this fluid, organic beautiful jam,,,,,.before, of course, ricocheting back Out and out and out of control as the wheels totally come off the fuckin' bus and everyone on board is carried onward, Further and Beyond.......and some of us never came back! Fuckin' love this song! Thx for sharing!
Sitting on a speaker, smoking Jerry's Pall Mall's at Berkeley. Sleeping on Muir beach. Mickey comes out to limber up at the shore. Mt Tam, a sea of white fog covers everything but the highest peaks. Among the fuzzy Redwoods and ferns. Olema and Canyon. Felton and Boulder creek. The Bar on Skyline, listening to Hot Tuna. Hell's Angel checking I.D. at the door.
Fuckin' straight smokin'! One of the most groovin' intro themes I've heard....and this s ong always gets you off your ass and jammin..........Swwwwwwweeeeeet!!
ha ha englishtown NJ funny cars! left a smoking crater ... blown away terrapin station and looks like rain and all that. i think marsahll tucker and the riders warmed things up finally found the car just before sun up. nice moon as i recall and love was in the air

Yeah, Lesh is a master of the lower frequency, and this song highlights it, from the ascending thunder to the subtle atmospheric pressure.
