Saw him about 10 years ago in a comedy club. We had dinner reservations there beforehand and my wife insisted on sitting at a table up front. I told her that just makes you a likelier target, but....
When the emcee came out, I figured I had enough time to get to the restroom and back before Bob came out. Wrong. He started roasting me as I walked back to our table and continued to throughout his act. It was great. After learning it was our anniversary, he even picked up our drink tab at the end. And of course, he was hilarious. RIP

Bob went to Abington High School in suburban Philly. My brother and Bob had many lunches together in high school. He was a truly nice guy, intelligent and friendly. We were both shocked at his passing. But, not surprised it was after he did a two hour show doing what he did best. He was a rarity for someone in the business, for sure.

I ran into him in Phoenix in 1990, I just started my career as a designer and worked on the new airport terminal. He was passing through on his way back to CA. I couldn't think of what to ask him so I asked him what he thought of the terminal. He said "yeah, it's pretty nice." I just retired last year. We should probably name that concourse for him now, he was one of the first people to go through it. It ended up being named after Barry Goldwater but who remembers that guy? He was a has-been. Bob was still up and coming right up until the end. Total class act all the way. Wish I got his autograph.

Bob was about 33 when he appeared on Johnny's show. It was his combination of talent, good looks, intelligence, self-confidence and height (6' 4") that gave him a distinct advantage. Many have said that he was a nice guy who treated people well, but there are plenty of commenters here who say the opposite. Some here are lumping him in with the bad souls who prey on the innocent. They say that but offer no corroborating information. So typical, huh?

This is classic! Johnny was the best host by far and this episode is too good. Bob is fantastic and truly missed. I’m so glad I grew up watching him. It’s so tragic to lose him so young, but hearing all the stories this past week have been incredible and just confirm how myself and so many others felt about him

If there was ever one show that many of us took for granted (including myself), it was The Tonight Show with JC…back in the day, it would come on and we’d flip on by with little regard. Little did we know that the show…and Johnny…would quickly become a lost American gem and institution. If I could only go back and watch those episodes live before bed on my parent’s Zenith crt TV…every weeknight at 10:30CDT. Moral of the story-those “golden years” are actually happening this very second. Don’t take time for granted. Embrace every moment as if it’s your last…because time flies by so darn fast.

Aw, he moved very smoothly past the comment that relatives must die because Bob Saget lost I think all of his siblings at one point, four or five of them...? Sadness 😢. RIP, Bob Saget.
