Hi everyone! I wanted to say a huge thank you for the incredible response to the video! I know that everyone has their own preferences, especially when it comes to shopping for new items. This video simply showcases what I personally look for. I hope you enjoyed it, and there's much more to come soon! P.S. We've seen many comments about the music volume. We'll make sure to lower it in our future videos. :) - J.
Jane, I love Home Sense and enjoyed touring around via video. Grest review. Next time could you have the volume of the background music turned down please. ❤ 😊
I have been a die hard HomeSense, HomeGoods, TJ Maxx fan for well over a decade, but still learned a few new things! I stumbled over this video looking for tips on finding good furniture at these stores. I’d love to see you cover furniture in the future, because the prices are so affordable, but I always wonder about quality. Thanks!
Rugs, please, rugs… Rug shopping with Jane would be heaven. Styles, sizes, materials, durability, colour, price points, texture… anything to help… tips, trends, how to invest wisely. Please can we go rug shopping? I will hold the shopping bag 🛍️ 😊 🙏
Lots of great finds at Home sense. Placemats: I look for something that can be wiped off plus ones that are solid so crumbs don’t fall through onto the table. Pillows: feather inserts are a must. With regard to metal/wood legs on furniture…if it’s scratched or knicked, and it’s a good price and it’s the style you’re looking for, it can always be painted.
I haven’t been to this type of store in awhile, busy thrifting for my own use, so this was fun to get to shop along with you. I have ALWAYS bought ceramic or clay pots in these stores as they are always a better price and selection than Lowe’s, Walmart, or .nurseries
The background music was so annoying also why put the pillows on the floor when explaining🙈 I’ve watched you on tv for many years so happy to see you on this platform👍🏽👍🏽
HS can be great for towels, decorative pillows, dishes and glassware. And plant pots! I also got an induction stove this year so replaced my 35 yr old pots and pans with some good ones from HS. I bought some inexpensive patio chairs that are really nice, but a few years ago I bought a dark blue patio umbrella that was faded to gray by the end of the summer. A waste of money. I don't buy their art because I want something that is unique ie original. Oh and I almost forgot my big best item this year was a really nice fairly heavy black metal patio end table that had Navy and white tiles on top. It's gorgeous.
I’m glad I found this channel and I enjoyed this video, but there is absolutely no need for the annoying music. We don’t need music or sound effects when we want to watch design videos.
Dear Ms Jane, First time I see one of your videos!!! You are so inspiring, helping, educating!!! I wonder...counter stools made of fabric...mmm....how do we wash them? Dirty fast and furious, no??? I am curious why there is no...covering that can be wash...🤔 (like...cushions we can unzip!! yeah!!!) Your guided tour is so amazing! Full of insight and advice; I SINCERELY appreciate them ALL! Thank you so much!! helene , Qc Canada
I don't need to carry a purse because I always have a cart in front of me! haha Haven't been to a Home Sense yet. I think we have an AT Home store that I want to try.
This was a nice video except for the terrible choice of music (plus, it was too loud). If I didn't like Jane or didn't enjoy shopping at HomeSense but I would not finish watching this. Unfortunately, I find that HomeSense stores in big cities like Toronto are much better supplied than in smaller cities. For example, I was looking for a 9x12 rug for years but never saw that size here. Eventually, I gave up and bought an even bigger one on Etsy (yes, it cost a lot more than at HomeSense but I really wanted a Moroccan one and it was worth it to me). Please share with us where your bag is from.
Sorry. I did enjoy the video, and the comment on checking the origin of items etc. BUT please do not use olive oil to oil surfaces to make them safe first food. Any “edible” oil can go rancid. If you want to oil cutting boards, salad bowls etc you can purchase a food safe mineral oil or paste, or make your own with mineral oil and beeswax. I have a very lovely and expensive cutting board and once a month I clean it well with soap and water, let it dry and then coat it with Boos oil or paste. It buffs up beautifully and will never go rancid. Thanks.
I don't like a pair of anything. As a designer you should know that is passe. Terracotta at the garden centre is more likely to be frost proof. Sometimes quality beats price. Furniture quality varies by the economic district the store is in.
Discount store art is the WORST. Yuck! And…watercolour paper isn’t “ripped” at the edges. The pieces are made in one sheet and cut in 2, 4 or 6. (Unless it’s cheapie paper.)
She’s not giving advice, she’s just sharing what she likes, her opinion and some of it is just common sense. Some people don’t have that so need these types of videos, so good for them.

Thanks for your video,I really suggest you, when you
introduce the shop ,can you tell us the location in where please.
Could have been a helpful video but the background music makes it virtually impossible to listen to the speaker.
Background music is way too loud and hard to focus.
@@darlenechandler2403Solution: turn off the sound and turn on “captions” to read what she is saying.
Get rid of that music.
Agreed!
Jane, I love Home Sense and enjoyed touring around via video. Grest review. Next time could you have the volume of the background music turned down please. ❤ 😊
Noted! We will consider this in future videos 😊
@@janelockhartdesign I loved the music, and I can be distracted by such things, but volume was fine for me.
Great video but the music makes it hard to hear you

I have bought two sets of pure linen sheets from HomeSense; they are gorgeous and wonderful to sleep on.
Putting pillows on a dirty floor drove me almost as nuts as the music ! 😢
I was thinking the same thing....putting pillows on the floor! do better!
Glad you're back on UA-cam! Thanks for the terrific advice.
I shop at HomeSense all the time and never thought to check where things were made. Good tip!
Whose bright idea was to use music in this video?
Thank you for educating us and yes there are better deals in person vs. online plus keeps retailers open.
Finally, a designer who understands most of us shop at Winners/Homesense, and has nice Jazz background music. Excellent advise, wow, whahoo, yippee!
That is not Jazz .. 😬.. it’s electronic and it is too loud and annoying!
The music is so loud!
I loved this video! Thanks for sharing your tips. Please make a towel buying video. I love HomeSense but never know how to pick those out.
Good idea! We'll consider it 😊 Thanks for watching
Would you consider putting prices on the screen?
New sub here. 🙋♀️ Enjoyed your video and the music...had no issue with the sound. Home Sense is one of my favourite stores.❤

I absolutely agree … why !!

Oh my goodness. 😂your video made me laugh! I love how you shop and get excited and distracted; I learned so much too.
Great video! Some very helpful tips! Thank you. 😊

So great to see you here on UA-cam! I’m a big fan of yours💕👏
Love this, so helpful. Please turn down the music!
I have the white bowls from Portugal, so I'm Jane approved 👌 😎

Everybody has their own sense of style what works for one might not work for another.

Great Tips! Thank you 😊
Good video
Could be great if voice was higher than music volume
Hi Jane, love the video but not the music...sorry
The whimsical lady!
I would love to shop with you. 🙂
I love your videos, but the background music is so distracting.
I just LOVE you !
I like your video but the background music is bothering me. It would be way better if there is no music.
I would like to know more about the MEC bag she uses. Can’t find it anywhere!
Lots of cross body bags everywhere these days! I like my lululemon bags!
A lot of the framed art at home sense is damaged, like the frames are not protected, often dented
MEC - Mountain Equipment Coop…
Canadian Retailer
They have stores in Toronto
Check online
which location?
can honestly say i've never needed any help shopping at winners marshalls or homesense.

Hi Jane, love this video but your voice is nice enough - the music was too loud and grated on me. Sorry.😢
Thanks for your feedback! We were trying something new with the music, next time we'll make sure to turn it down or off 😊
Love the video, but try it without the music. Didn't watch the whole thing because of it.
Yeah the music is too loud. 😕
Which location Homesense are you at?
You might want to investigate the lead content of dishes/pottery made in Portugal.
Really?!? I bought a couple when I was in Portugal a few years ago
What sources have found high lead content?
No music please it is unnecessary
Not olive oil on wood, it will become rancid…mineral oil is better or oil for wood

The black pillows with the white thread border....do not buy. They pill like crazy! Looks terrible
I can help you out if you need original artwork!
Background music drove me crazy
I don't like a pair of anything. As a designer you should know that is passe. Terracotta at the garden centre is more likely to be frost proof. Sometimes quality beats price. Furniture quality varies by the economic district the store is in.
Why is that people put music everywhere? What is wrong with a quiet peaceful background
😊
Music not required plz.
Which Home Sense?
This is the Stockyards location but the best and biggest one is the Etobicoke location, Queensway across from Sherway Gardens mall
No music it is irritating!
Why are you putting pillows on dirty floors, someone buy it and put Will put his face on maybe, a little bit of reason!
Ditch the music!!!
The music drowned you out unable to even continue watching. Let’s just buy what makes us happy! What you might like it’s not your home.
The music is just awful so distracting
Discount store art is the WORST. Yuck!
And…watercolour paper isn’t “ripped” at the edges. The pieces are made in one sheet and cut in 2, 4 or 6. (Unless it’s cheapie paper.)
Ugh the music!! Its not needed!
Why take advise from a designer? Everyone is entitled to his own taste… so don’t listen to all this b……
She’s not giving advice, she’s just sharing what she likes, her opinion and some of it is just common sense. Some people don’t have that so need these types of videos, so good for them.
Thank you Jane, enjoyed this video so much. Regards J
Don’t watch then! Heavens!
