Firstly ,I have just noticed your channel by chance, and I kindly surprised about detail of your work. I have checked your previous studies and I wonder are you planning to do a tutorial about wind turbine detaily?
Hi Sir @Sebastian Stipa I run the blockMesh, and it shows --> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR: Illegal dictionary entry or environment variable name ":aerofoil.xUpper" Valid dictionary entries are 1(type) After google-ing, it seems something to do with syntax between old version OF, to the latest. FYI, currently I use OF9. Kindly advise. Please. Thanks
Thanks for your great Explanation. I have tried to set up the mesh with my own airfoil. The problem that I have got that I cannot choose a type empty for front and back as my airfoil is not symmetrical. I must choose a type wall. Due to this i get bad results. Do you know the reason i cannot choose type empty ?
Type empty means that you tell the solver to not solve in that direction. Since this is a 2D case we set front and back as type empty. Even if your airfoil is not symmetrical it is still a 2D, so you should put type as empty.
Hi, I am trying to use your case in OpenFOAM 10 but some errors appearch due to the Macro Expansion when defining the cylinder. Have you ever tried to run in OpenFOAM v10?
Hello, Thank you for your video! I would like to do the same but for a NACA0018. Where can i find the NACA0012.obj file but for the NACA0018? I tried to create it with solidworks but the code do no recognize the shaoe of the airfoil and so the mesh is not good. Thank you
Try to save in STL, open the options menu when saving and make sure that you are saving in ASCII, meters, and the tick on “don’t convert into positive space” is selected. And keep in mind that the mesh you create with block mesh and the SolidWorks CAD must be in the same reference frame. For 2D cases, if you are making a simulation say in the xy plane, so that the z direction has only one cell, make sure your CAD model is a long extrusion in the z direction that intersects what you define as background mesh.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Sebastiano!
you are welcome ;)
Thanks for this extensive and clear tutorial
you are welcome, it is my pleasure
Very nice! Looking forward to more videos
Thanks 🙏🏻

Probably I will release something in the future.
nice video, but i couldn't hear anything until i maxed the volume :p
They should re-upload with amplified audio even if it's crunchy.
Solved in the next tutorials, I am sorry. Put on the headphones for this and blast the volume ;)
Nice Explanation!
Will you please provide the Case files of OpenFOAM....it will be easy for us to learn and practice.
Of course, here I did not run any simulation. From the next one there will be a link to the case file (the same of this video for instance)

Very low sound. please speak up
Thanks Ahmad. This problem has been solved in the following tutorials.
