5x18 - What Comes After The Blues
Lucas: I don't hate you. I remember the first time I ever saw you. All skinny arms and tangled mess of hair. It was hard letting you go, Peyton. It was hard losing you, and it was hard seeing you again...and it's still really hard.
Peyton: I know...While I'm asleep I have this dream where we're back in the hotel room in L.A. And you propose to me, and every single time I say yes.
Lucas: It's just a dream, right?
Peyton: It's my dream.
I think subconsciously Lucas wanted Peyton to feel the hurt she did to him by not accepting his proposal so he kept rejecting her and wanting to prove he could move on and that she couldnt affect his future happiness. Everyone was telling him he was still in love with Peyton and he was like wanting to prove he wasnt. But everytime she spilled her heart to him he was like on the verge of breaking down and telling her he still was in love with her. He told her he hated her because she didnt stay away and with her moving so close and then telling him she still loved him it drove him crazy and blew up his new happy life with Lindsay. He didnt hate her he hated the fact she could still affect him the way she always did. I think this is very realistic because most people cant get that first true love out of their mind especially if they have a chance at rekindling it or making it permanent. This is a great scene and i could always feel the regret in their lines and the fact they were apart but shouldnt be as the love was still there. They always had that deep connect no matter who else came between them. I think their scenes together were always so subtly passionate and sad as they were both so unhappy apart. Lucas and Brooke were always fighting because he never made her feel totally loved and that he would step up for her. WIth Peyton he knew she had this hold on him that he could never cut off. And she couldnt give her herself totally to anyone but him. Thats why my friends they ended up together for life. They always seemed to me so perfect together whenever they had a scene. Like when he gives her that chocolate bar and a hug and tells her all will be fine. You cant fake that look they have. No hot tubs needed. Subtle and deep.

It’s 2020 and I still ship Leyton more than any other TV couple. The chemistry. The love. You can see it in the way that they look at each other. I don’t think any other couple on the show looks at each other the way these two do. It really is like they look into each other’s souls every time they lock eyes. ❤️

These two were amazing but also on this UK TV show bad girls, Nikki and Helen (one of the first ever lesbian storylines to air back in 1999) they looked at eachother intense, just like these two used to. Also Ross/Rachel in Friends and X files Mulder/Scully aswell

The way Peyton says "I know" at 1:02 in that soft whisper and her expression just breaks my heart. It seems like she was just hurting so much that she could barely speak.
She didn't say no... She said Someday... But Lucas didn't hear that.... He heard No...

@@sallycoach6238 not really...i think even if she'd accepted and had a long engagement, he wouldn't have been satisfied and seen it as 'someday'. he seemed to think proposing was gonna fix their relationship problems at the time (i.e distance, lack of communication).
@@lunalove9395 I mean they were what? 19/20 when he proposed? Someday is someday really is someday when you are still a teenager. Peyton isn't wrong for being freaked out, and saying this wasn't the right time. Lucas was being ridiculous most likely because he too is a goddamn teenager.

This scene might be a little underrated. I mean this is the first time in this season Lucas is actually kind of honest about his feelings towards Peyton. He was always afraid of beeing hurt again but then Peyton said, that she has this dream of accepting his proposal. That tells him that he won't be rejected anymore by Peyton and because of that he takes action wants to go to Vegas with her and marry her finally. He wants her to be his wife and that as soon as possible because he still is afraid to loose her again.

He loved Brooke and Lindsey but he could never give them his full heart because a part of it always belonged to Peyton. Peyton was the only one he could fully love.
Such a damn good scene. This was the last season I connected to. I was never a Leyton fan but the writing in the 5th season sold me.

I was so set on team Brucas until season 5. Peyton just loved Lucas way more than Brooke ever did.
Lucas and brooke were always a very young love, Peyton and Lucas always found their way back to each other and it made their love strong and able to last through all of the obsticles

I don't get why people hated season 5. Seriously, one of the best seasons. Maybe it's just because I love angst between couples but yeah most of leytons best scenes were in this season. Season 5 made me ship them more than Nathan and Haley.
Season 5 was definitely one of the best seasons of OTH. Easily the best finale, I remember flipping out after Lucas made the call but I knew it was Peyton!
I only liked the leyton scenes in season 5. Besides that the season was boring and kind of annoying. But yeah the leyton scenes were beautiful! That's the only good thing I took from this season.

Awesome Guy That's true but season 3 didn't have an writers strike to contend with S5 like did. Post wedding episodes definitely would have been about LP rebuilding if it wasn't for the strike and it would have an decent build since we would have gotten 10 episodes instead of the 6 we actually got. But admittedly the LL storyline was still really stupid and I didn't see the point of putting putting another third party between LP when it would have been better for both characters if they worked their way to back together without any third parties in the picture.
Totally agree with this. Season 5 LP was amazinggg. Nobody does angst the way they do. While they’re ALWAYS great, I’d take angsty season 5 LP over fluffy season 4 or 6 LP any day. ❤️

For Lucas it was hard letting Peyton go to LA to pursue her dream, and when Peyton didn't show up at the book signing it was hard for Lucas to lose her. But after 3 years Peyton shows up, and it hard for Lucas to see her because he attempting to move on and he obviously still loves her. They both miss each other and both are clearly sad and miserable. Ugh angst at its best amazing actors.n
After he talks about how hurt it was to see her, her little "I know" is so sad because that is exactly how she feels.
Everytime she says "It's my dream" I feel like aaw, c'mon Lucas! *-*

i really like this two...i didnt watch season 2 cause lucas and payton were nothing...but whan i watched season 4 i rushed and watched what ive missed...these two are what made one tree hill...these two ARE tree hill
we need Peyton back I was so happy when he choose her, they were always meant for each other everything else was just the road to them getting there.
I didn’t watch OTH until season 5. My friend told me I could watch from season 5 on since the show was fast forwarding and it would be fine. So I went in blind and from the moment they shared their first awkward conversation on the river court I felt so bad for Peyton and knew there was history and pain there. I got the flu a few weeks later and my roommate had the first four seasons on dvd and I binged them all and got caught up by episode 5 of season 5 and I was a diehard Peyton and Leyton fan from that point forward.
Hil has been fantastic not only in this scene but in all of this season. Actually she is fantastic in all the seasons she's been in! I love her!!!
Peyton totally stole this scene with her last line, "Its My Dream". It breaks my heart every time. lol

I wasn't a fan of the first half of season 5 because it just didn't seem the same as the first 4 seasons, and after season 6, it didn't feel the same at all. They were still good season but just seemed like a different show, without these two it wasn't One Tree Hill, because the cast for the first few seasons will always be more than a cast but the show. Brooke, Peyton, Lucas, Nathan and Haley.

Never thought before that Peyton is pretty until this scene when she says "it's MY dream!" like she's saying much more than she really is! And I'm not a leyton fan, but this is a great scene!

I don't why person are hating Lucas in season 5 , saying they hate him for how he treated Peyton . What do you expect him to do - break up with Lindsey just because Peyton came back . And then he was left at the altar . He was hurting . He was hurt when Peyton said someday . So he picked up the pieces and moved on and never expected to see her again and never expected her to return to tree hill because she herself said that there were too many bad memories for her in tree hill. And she wanted to move on from that with her new life in LA .
I think it was because of how he treated the situation. He kissed Peyton (even though she kissed him first - he kissed her back), and then proposed to Lindsey and planned a quick wedding immediately after. Not only did that hurt Peyton, but it was also unfair to Lindsey as you know he was never going to tell her about the kiss. Had she not figured out the whole comet thing, he would've carried on with it.

I basically hated lucas in season 5. Treating peyton that way. He was so mean to her.sometimes I wondered if he still loves her because he was so persistent that he loved lindsay.But I guess I get it, Peyton really hurt him when she said no to his proposal because he loved her so much..so, hes just scared to accept peyton back in his life because he didnt want to get hurt again. Still, I just hated how the break up was so easy though.
I agree but season 5 requires a lot of reading between the lines. In the first scene of season 5 you see Lucas on the river court and you can see how unhappy he is with his life saying "sometimes it feels like someone else's memory". He wouldn't have said that if he and Peyton were still together. Also it's been years and he still couldn't write a second book. Then when Peyton returns he finally has the inspiration to write a second book and it was all about his love for her and how he was willing to wait his entire life for her to return to him. That's what his heart was telling him. His head was telling him stay with Lindsey because there's nothing wrong with her and Peyton already hurt him. So that's what season 5 was pretty much all about, Lucas's heart vs. Lucas's head. At the end of season 5 he finally listened to his heart and chose Peyton.
THat's not fair. Most people date a few people before finding the one.
He acted like a bit of a dick, but it was also understandable, and very human. Rightly or wrongly, he misinterpreted Peyton's rejection of his proposal as a rejection of him. To have finally moved past that, to have settled into a life with someone else that he cares about (enough to be contemplating marriage), thinking you're never going to see that person that hurt you again... only for her to show up in one of his most memorable childhood haunts, looking to pick-up where they left off? He was angry. This was the love of his life, and it seemed like he was only an option when it was convenient, and now his whole world is crashing down because OF COURSE he wants her, but he's too proud to admit it after she hurt him, and he wants to be the honourable guy and stand by Lindsay. Love is hard, and sometimes it brings out the worst in us.
Greeneyelove but if you really think about it, those are responsible qualities. No one wants to think of dan as responsible because he was the villain but he did the right thing in that the SECOND PERSON he knocked up, he married. That’s honorable, even if he loved karen the whole time. I really wish they never had dan kill Keith because I always felt like dan was just a teenager who screwed up and deserved a second chance with karen. It’s really sad to see Lucas didn’t realize how much he was his fathers son and LINDSEY had to be the one to call off the wedding, instead of Lucas doing what was right.

Last episode he really was transferring the way he felt she broke his heart more than the I said I do she didn't what he kept repeating because he sure wasn't jumping up and down that Lindsay had not moved on.
I loved this scene because the directing felt like a s1 scene with the inter-lay of her face as he talked, vice versa. He was finally honest to himself.
if he really loved he would have waited for her, because she said SOMEDAY, she didn't say no. i don't really understand lucas sometimes.
