I really admire their relationship as best friends. Neither character insinuated romantic feelings towards each other and I find that very refreshing that One Tree Hill shows that guys and girls can be love each other as siblings rather than romantically. Lucas and Haley have the most solid relationship throughout the show and I love it.
Jamie is so cute and very funny "I've got big ears" haha... Joy loooks really pretty in this scene. I loved her reaction when Lucas told her that he was engaged to peyton(It's about time those two lovebirds got together). I love Laley they have such a deep friendship.......
The only reason Lucas proposed to Lindsay is because he didn't want to get hurt by Peyton again since he was still in love with her and he told Peyton he hated her because he didn't Want Lindsay to leave since he was trying to move on, he said he hated her because he was still in l8ve with her. When he called the "girl" in the 5th season finale I knew it was Peyton, I don't know why Brooke was in that since he showed no sign of still being in love with her

"Happier than either of us can remember" that just sounds like a big "fuck you" to Lindsey, not to be mean but a lot of things Lucas said throughout season 6 sounded like a big "fuck you" to Lindsey

Lucas is a jerk. If Lindsay hadn't left him at the altar, he would have been happily married to her. Even after she left him, he spent ages trying to win her back, while hating Peyton. How is Peyton the love of his life? Looks like he would have happily settled down with anyone.
I hated the Lindsey storyline in season 5 but Lucas wasn’t a jerk, the storyline was just not good. He didn’t hate Peyton, even when he said he hated Peyton, he was drunk, he didn’t mean it. He loved Lindsey but there was a part of him that still had feelings for Peyton, especially once she came back to Tree Hill. He was just in denial with his feelings for Peyton coming back because he didn’t want to hurt Lindsey and he thought Peyton was out of his life because she said she couldn’t come back to tree hill because of the bad memories. It’s realistic for a person to love someone but still have feelings for an old flame but be in denial because he doesn’t want to hurt the other person. He loved Lindsey and didn’t mean for anything bad to happen but he couldn’t control his feelings when Peyton came back to town. He wasn’t a bad person, he was just driven by fear, which makes the Lucas character so real

And the episode where he said he hated her the episode title was even called “hate is safer than love”. I liked Lucas but I do think that season 5 was his worst season (season 5 wasn’t the best for either of the Scott brothers in my opinion).
He wouldn’t have been happy with Lindsay. He didn’t even propose to Lindsay or think about proposing to her. She assumed and he always hiding behind anyone he can find when it comes to his feelings for Peyton so he went along with it. And the whole time he wrote another book about how much he loves Peyton. He would have ended up like Dan in a way if he married Lindsay.
Hope u know Lucas was put in a position where his only option to show that he loves Lindsey was to propose to her? Lucas had that ring for a long time(all those yrs he was with Lindsey) he was always looking at it but never proposed to her but Lindsey decided to give that kind of Ultimatum like “the only way I can accept u truly love me was to propose to me” and Lucas wasn’t ready to go back to Peyton again who always has the power to hurt him.
