One thing I've been wondering for years Paddy, so many times when I order in Thai and specifically ask for "phet" or "phet mak", I hear the staff call out my order in Thai to the chef, but instead of "phet" they say "spai-see". What's up with that?
@@dontamba4919 Nah that's just my bad attempt at writing Thai in English. They always understand me. Spicy is เผ็ด and sex is เพศ. Hey I have a question! Can I frequently use ไหม at the end of a question sentence? What I mean is, if I wanted to say “what is it” or “who is it” could I say อะไรไหม or ไครไหม ? Sort of like in order to say “is it good” you’d say อร่อยไหม.
ไหม at the end, it's like you want to ask the opinion on things or situation e.g. ร้อนไหม (R̂on Mai) which means "Is it hot?". For "What is it?" or "What is this?", you can say นี่อะไร (Ni Arai) Ni means "this". For "Who is it?" or "Who is this?", you can say นี่ใคร (Ni Krai). However, you should add ครับ (Krub) at the end of the sentences to make them more polite e.g. นี่อะไรครับ นี่ใครครับ.
That looks like some tasty food! What are the Thai words to describe "delicious"? In English we have tasty, yummy, scrumptious, delicious, good, flavorful, succulent, delectable, appetizing, etc. Are there Thai adjectives other than "Aroy"?
Very good question Dan! Not really! Probably another one you could use is nâ gin น่ากิน(looks good to eat) but besides that the amount of vocabulary in Thai is a lot less!
