Still one of my favourite video reviews Bob, I’m biased because it was my dream car and I thankfully own one and it never fails to put a smile on my face too
Test drove an XJ, test drove an A8. Both of which I felt I was in a very very nice car. Test drove the 640D gran coupe, and for the first time in my life I actually felt I was PART of a very very nice car. My god what a car to drive. So comfortable in eco, so ready in comfort, and just like Brienne of Tarth (game of thrones) so god damn unrelenting when sport mode is engaged. There was no battle after all. I picked up my 640D gc on Saturday. Thanks to you Bob a light was shone and I followed it all the way to BMW.
Top review. Well summed up. I've had my 640d M for 3,500 miles so far an loving it. A car for every mood. Mine is giving me 40mpg since I got it without any effort which is mental for a car of this size and performance.
Few things I hate about top gear et al. is they dont seam appreciative of the privilage they have, they almost seam bored at times to review expensive cars. It was great to watch a guy who knows he is lucky and who is an average joe. great review.
Thanks Bob! Really enjoyed this film, and also your other ones! I watched the gran coupe film first, and the coupe one just now! Keep up the great work!! ... where's the Thumbsup emoji???
Oh the begrudgery, have you watched the other 195 videos I've made? I'll tell you what's embarrassing, the amount of supportive comments I get from people and then the one voice comes on and thinks he knows about cars by "only" driving the 650i so he has to "imagine" the 640d. You Sir, know nothing of what I do, how I do it or, indeed why I do it. I have driven far better than the 640d and far worse. I'm proud to do what I do.
Very subjective question, Mondeo has huge seats, Passat has the best 'Comfort' ride and Octavia is most comfortable on the motorway so it just depends on your needs. If you're on the heavy side the Mondeo will do well, if you're average the Passat will be the best.
You know Peugeot with the 407 coupe, managed to build a coupe capable of fitting 2 full size adults in the rear. I know, not a lot of people know that, because not a lot of people bought it! But it was pretty good and today you can pick up a five year old 2.0HDI (best for economy) for under 6 grand! And people will stare in admiration at you for driving one, and no one will know how not very much it cost. BMW do coupe's well. Although the same cannot be said for the 3 Series Compact (E46).
A Euro is worth a bit more than a US Dollar so it works out about 145,000 Dollars but you'd need to check with your local BMW dealer to see the price over there.
Great video. This guy is cool. I’m looking at getting a 2016 6 series m sport . Would you advise a 2dr or 4dr. I’ve no kids just me and the girlfriend so I won’t encounter any problems with no room in the back seats. 2 dr is a few grand cheaper. If you took the back seat issue out of the equation which would you go for and why ?
I think this car has the sport package. most bmws reviewed do and so you have to expect the bumpy ride. its not necessary and most buyers dont select it as an option
The reason the power is :too much" for the back wheels is because bmw are too tight to fit it with a limited slip differential which would transform the car but there you go
I'm a motoring writer and have been for quite some time now so I don't get the cars from Dealers, they come from people like BMW Ireland. I doubt you'll get far with a dealer when you tell him that you want a lend of a car for a week!
I can’t afford an F40….I have drove one. It’s my all time favourite car. A mate told me to take a 640d for a drive. I did. I loved it. I bought it. Two words.. FUCKING HELL!!! Bye bye Ferrari 👋🏼🚗💨
The headrests of these, the standard seats do not tilt forward, there is/was a comfort seat option with widely adjustable headrests however. Worth looking out for certainly, along with VDC.
One more thing, DO you guys have a FACEBOOK "FAN PAGE?" IT would increase the traffic to your UA-cam Channel. Also a Twitter.. I live 15 minutes away from the head UA-cam offices in San Bruno CA. It's just outside San Francisco CA...
115k euro, that is about £85k sterling. I know the Euro is a naff currency, but you are paying about £20k+ over what it costs in England. Crazy. Buy in England and transport back to Ireland is the only advice you forgot to give. Nice motor.
We pay a lot more tax, there's VRT and VAT along with currency exchange that makes up the difference in price. If I go buy it in the UK I still have to exchange the money, drive it back on the ferry and pay the Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) and that would probably make it more expensive than buying it here. Crap taxes on cars in Ireland.
"Dynamic driving with sport-oriented chassis and restricted driving stability" Needless complexity thrown at the user by BMW, coupled with a corny and patronising marketing message.
they all do that..modern life we don't like it but its a bit like like 30's sex in London (not the 1930s) its hard to find in non drunk mode. BUT there might be an app for that
I can think of a million better performance cars to spend £66,000 pounds on! diesel touring coupe isnt one of them! different strokes for different folks
Bob, it's not begrudgery. Just disappointment. I appreciate that, as a one man band, you have to be nice about the cars you get loaned lest you never get another, and to be fair, your video wasn't advertised as a test (and it was pretty well produced). But I hoped when I clicked to watch it having seen the 'Ireland' in the tag, that it wouldn't be another load of gushing nonsense. It was. Also, if you think an assumption based on a test of a 650 carries nothing forward to the heavier 640d......
What a load of old shite! Why not discuss if ‘your’ car has Variable Damper Control before talking about the driving modes softening the suspension. Without VDC the ride is not affected at all by the different modes, only the steering and throttle sensitivity/gearbox changes are affected. So many silly statements and not enough facts. I always admire someone having the stones to post anything, but just do it right man.
This sort of thing is why Irish car mags are fit for nothing more than blotting puppy piss. Every Irish journo thinks anything even vaguely decent they get given the keys to is 'brilliant' and a 'drame kearr'. It's embarrassing. The current 6 is a pretty enough car and it's a lovely thing to sit in, but it's grossly overweight, it's automatic only, it's utterly devoid of feel and it's very clumsy to hustle. I've only driven the 650i, but imagine that with 70kg more in the nose, the 640d is worse.
Still one of my favourite video reviews Bob, I’m biased because it was my dream car and I thankfully own one and it never fails to put a smile on my face too
Great car but old review!

How you finding your GC after a year?
@@4happydaze I’m loving it Chris. I honestly look at her everyday and smile to to myself. An awesome machine.
Just ordered one based on this review pretty much... the value of these used is insane!
Great real life, real driving video. Could listen to him all day long.

Top review. Well summed up. I've had my 640d M for 3,500 miles so far an loving it. A car for every mood. Mine is giving me 40mpg since I got it without any effort which is mental for a car of this size and performance.
That is one serious motor. I want one, this would give the old M635CSI a run for its money in the desirability stakes. Great review, thanks!
I kept on looking at my phone during this vid...
Thanks - it's a great video. I love the way you show what BMW diesels are all about. :)
Few things I hate about top gear et al. is they dont seam appreciative of the privilage they have, they almost seam bored at times to review expensive cars. It was great to watch a guy who knows he is lucky and who is an average joe. great review.
Brilliant review! Echoing the sentiments of fellow viewers "very watchable". Great show.
Thanks Bob! Really enjoyed this film, and also your other ones! I watched the gran coupe film first, and the coupe one just now! Keep up the great work!! ... where's the Thumbsup emoji???
Thanks very much, I'm sure you'll have many happy years of driving that 640d. Best of luck with it
Just bought a 3 yr old one..first choice after many months trying everything else including XK, SL class, CLS, S5, A7. All great cars btw.
Same here mine is 3 years old convertible and bought it after checking all of the other cars that you mentioned best car i ever owned
In this world of 90 second stuff and sound bytes I thought I'd be a little different. I'm glad you like!
Brilliant down-to-earth review and I love your enthusiasm.😊👍👍👍
Ordered mine a few days ago! Thanks for the review
Really good down to earth review. Glad I watched this.

Thank you for your reviews because they are awesome. Keep going man you are good.
As soon as there's one available in Ireland I'm in it!
What a decent review...great job mate💪
I fricking love your review. Thanks a lot
Thanks for watching!
Thanks very much, I'm glad you like!
It's by Portishead, Glorybox. 90's band, the album Dummy is well worth a look,
@Bob Flavin The 6-series Gran Coupé with its four doors should be the perfect car for you then!
Car has aged as well as OK computer.
Tuurteen!!!!
Isak Lakatos Your shite comment is not related to "things that matter". Sorry boy.
I HAVE THE CONVERTABLE,. BRILLIANT RELIABLE MACHINE NOW WITH 395BHP AND 810 NM T 4,5 SEC 0-60
HOW? please
5:34 was a close one i think
I liked it so much I'm in the Gran Coupe version this week :D
What a brilliant video !
Thanks very much!

don't drink&drive sir ;)
but seriously this is the best review on 6 series and on channel of yours that I ever have seen
I think he likes it...alot, cant blame him it is one sexy beast.
As RocketRevolver says Portishead, check them out they used to be brilliant in the early 90's
In Eco Pro you'll get over 50mpg nearly 60mpg if you drive like a saint. Sport Plus will get you below the 25mpg and a lot less if you really push it
A Euro is worth a bit more than a US Dollar so it works out about 145,000 Dollars but you'd need to check with your local BMW dealer to see the price over there.

I'd be happier getting my hands on the M5 next!
If the room is not big enough, you could always get a 535d, same engine, but more room.
The Andy it does not look anywhere as good as the 6 series
Oh, thanks :)
I'm a motoring writer and have been for quite some time now so I don't get the cars from Dealers, they come from people like BMW Ireland. I doubt you'll get far with a dealer when you tell him that you want a lend of a car for a week!
I can only review what's available on test, there isn't a Z4 on if that changes I'll get one done for you!
I can’t afford an F40….I have drove one. It’s my all time favourite car. A mate told me to take a 640d for a drive. I did. I loved it. I bought it. Two words.. FUCKING HELL!!! Bye bye Ferrari 👋🏼🚗💨
just booked a 24hrs test drive in the 2015 model :)
Nice car, nice review and nice music! What is that song, please?
Ok, thanks! I will :)
No idea, I just wanted the cool banner for the channel
BMW engines are so good !
what is the name of the soundtrack at the beginning of the film? thankyou. nicely done
Thanks. I'm driving an S550, and I want to change to an S350 4matic. I'm the saintly driver... "Nobody wants the diesels in America... " YES WE DO...
Yes we do facebook /Nextgear and @thenextgear for Twitter. UA-cam doesn't help much, they won't give me a Director account
Where'd the review of the Gran Coupe go?
Which is better regarding comfort a Ford Mondeo or a VW Passat or Skoda Octavia?
Can u please review the Ford Focus 1.0 ecoboost
Dont fuck with the peaky blinders
Nice
Does the headrest come forward so you can rest your head on it or is it just to look pretty and save you from whip lash?
The headrests of these, the standard seats do not tilt forward, there is/was a comfort seat option with widely adjustable headrests however. Worth looking out for certainly, along with VDC.
Someone who knows what he likes!
Wow!!
Diesel mpg?

Bob how is it like compared to Audi A7 3.0 TDI with 310bp Black Edition and Mec CLS 350CDI . Which one is the best ?
i would ask to drive both on following weekends - let us know what they say
Why won't they give you a Director account Bob?
What's the name of the song and artist at the beginning?
Portishead - Glory Box

Blimey, unlucky, and I should have known that as well. Taxation, even higher than here, bummer.
"Dynamic driving with sport-oriented chassis and restricted driving stability"
Needless complexity thrown at the user by BMW, coupled with a corny and patronising marketing message.

113,000 euros is a lot of green backs for a car. However, the review is worth 113,000 euros (what's a euro, anyway? Is it like a buck?
But torque in low rpms and redline starting early, sounds like "premature ejaculation"... but i'ts my honest and personal opinion.
Cars like this, i like but not with diesel engines.
Who the hell boughts these expensive cars, gives a damn about fuel economy? Pleeease...
If the driver is drunk?
POTATOS!!!!!
You spelled that wrong.
I can think of a million better performance cars to spend £66,000 pounds on! diesel touring coupe isnt one of them! different strokes for different folks
what diesel cars are there with better performance and economy and looks????
Don't be silly, only idiots drink and drive.

I am assuming the 6 series comes standard with VDC? VDC should be standard. Adaptive drive is an option. Correct me if I am wrong?
You heard the man. You don´t have a clue, you know nothing about cars and he also does a mean Ken Dodd impersonation
Hi Bob. How much did you get paid to lie about this German-made lawnmower?? Huh?
