The acoustic guitar is a fucking awesome instrument when played properly. Good guitar technique, good voice and good song - often as good as a full band
@@kid_a6859 You're right - as far as In Rainbows songs go, I did some research last year and apparently barring Nude (which debuted in the 90s technically) Bodysnatchers is actually the most played Radiohead song during their shows, with Reckoner, 15 Step and Weird Fishes closely following behind. That said, this was only the second time Thom chose to play it without the band, the first being its debut back in 2006 when he performed with Jonny! So we're both kinda right lol It's the first acoustic performance since the song's debut!
What a statement. I don’t play music but heard recently that when computers “fix” vocals they literally look at the bell curve of the notes the person sang on a computer screen and crop off the edges with mouse clicks. Nobody trolls how tech affects our humanity like Thom.
It was nice of Rich Evans to allow Thom Yorke to play in his living room on Rich's night off. If anything, Thom is just taking advantage of Rich's graceful generosity as it's obvious Thom just secretly wanted to be graced with Rich's presence - not the other way around.
You guys have to admit that his vocals werent that great on this one. How are half of the comments praising the vocals when he isn't hitting the notes?
He's not 'not hitting the notes', he is deliberately singing different notes sometimes, which are not off key at all, it just not the exact same melody you're used to hearing. Sure, sometimes it's more spoken-word and there's an aspect of imperfection sometimes, but there's a lot of character to how he's performing, he's constantly switching 'modes' in his voice to accentuate certain parts, sometimes more aggressively and sometimes more mellow, I don't find this to be something lackluster but actually kinda hard to pull off. There's more than just one way to sing y'know. Thom's delivery here has a lot of power which people are excited to hear since he's been singing more mellow songs pre-The Smile.
I love the song, but I see a whole bunch of diehard RH fanboys in the comment section blindly refusing to acknowledge the vocal delivery is shambolic and leaves to be desired, plus that the song just isn't as exciting in an acoustic rendition.
i mean, during his weird fishes performance, he said they asked him to do something different. it's a neat acoustic rendition, not as good as the album version by any means, but an entertaining rendition and fun for the audience
@@whycardboard I can understand that. Still, it's shambolic and lots of even music fans say a big share of RH fans tend to defend the band regardless. I'm a singer myself, and those vocals are just plain not on par. It doesn't do any musician a good favor to say it's alright when it really isn't.
@moonchild His voice touches the audience like others voices never can, no matter how perfect. And if you want to hear the full band version you should not go to an unplugged solo show.
@@karindgr Do you mean to say this audience specifically? Look, I'm tired of them not being objective. They cross lines pretty often, like naming the band better than everyone else, even The Beatles, which is a damn stretch - but they don't see it. Just in case - I've a lovehate relationship with RH, which means I acknowledge their talent and love some of their stuff. I really rarely write critical comments anywhere, but here I just absolutely had to. P. S. Or maybe he just shouldn't have played it!? Knowing me as a singer myself, if I were him I'd have apologized to the audience about the vocals!
Thom sings this song in almost every live concert since its debut in 2006. He obviously loves this song.
who doesnt?
This is the first time he plays it solo tho
the song is really fun and weirdly satisfying to play on guitar, probaly a lot of fun to perform
One of the best rh songs, no doubt in my mind
Yet this phone quality video is one of the few versions with only a guitar :(
Love his vocal delivery on this - full of quirky phrasing and sarcasm. It’s fucking great.
In what universe? It's simply underprepared.
@@MoonchildMindaugas2 No
@@SuperiFox Mm... Let me think... Maybe... Nah. It's a yes. Thanks for trying.
@@MoonchildMindaugas2 UNBELIEVEABLE! he has all the lyrics MEMORIEZED and he wont SING HIS OWN SONG RIGHT! fkn minge
"you've killed the sound-- you've removed the fucking backbone" made me smile
It's crazy how full the song sounds despite being just one guitar. Especially since the band uses so many different instruments on the recording.
right? i kept swearing i could hear all the swirling synths and guitars come in on the change

One of my favorite performances I've ever seen/heard from him. Crowd getting into the build-up was perfect, too.
I love this. Thom's raw vocals here are fucking awesome.
What a man with a guitar can do... Phenomenal. There is everything. Whole song.
An all-acoustic Radiohead LP would be fucking epic.
That's my favourite song ever I can't believe he brought it back... 🙌 Love you Thom!
This is a RH staple. It never went anywhere. It’s fantastic

brought it back? they play it constantly....
singing better every day. Amazing
Thom looks like a kid performing at school concert lmao
Pretty beardy and wrinkly kid, but yeah I can see it

Never, in a trillion years, would I ever imagine anyone making an RLM reference on a video like this lol
@@reservoirdude92 Even during Thom's fest?
ahahahahha
lol I had this video auto play after the most recent Half in the Bag
Who is Rich Evans?
I fuckin love the bridge just as much as Thom does… look at that passion when he plays those f’n beautiful chords 2:06
Sounds like if bob dylan covered bodysnatchers lol
Dang, Yorke is starting to look a bit old, but still has it 🤘😎🎸Great musician
I thought he was steve Howe jajajaj
honestly its his hair and beard i think! but him disappearing for sections of time exaggerates his aging i think :,)
First time hearing the lyrics :)
really like this stripped down version
This is golden.
The goat
I love this Human x
i didnt realize ho edgy this song was
He sounds like hes just not even trying, and just singing like he's had enough if everyone's shit and it's hilarious.
so so so so so so good omg
now thats stripped,❤️❤️
Oh yes!
Awesome
He sounds like 60's Dylan!
Not really. Singing nasally and screwing up is not the same.
@@MoonchildMindaugas2 neither of them did that.

totally does and it's great

When he spits at 2:24 🤣
The title should be - Thom Yorke pretending to be Bob Dylan - Bodysnatchers
jandekesque version
Is it just me or Thom looks Wilie Nelson like these days?
What guitar is he playing?
Best
You guys have to admit that his vocals werent that great on this one. How are half of the comments praising the vocals when he isn't hitting the notes?
Because half the comments can’t hit those notes on a good day

He’s electric here. Proper notes don’t matter unless your heads up your ass.
Sometimes the spirit, and rawness of the expression matters more than hitting notes

PLEASE!!!
This song is about Tony Blair
Channeling Bob Dylan over here. 😂
He got older nooo
is that bob dylan?
