I've used Old Smokey's all my life. My Grandfather used one, in fact, it was the only grill he ever had. Some of my fondest memories are him and his Old Smokey grill. I have a 22" I've had for nearly 17 years, and I just bought an 18 that I need to assemble. I love these grills and will always have one.
@@patrickzipperer178 they are nostalgic for sure. I’m definitely enjoying mine. I know I will step up to a 22 soon. Thanks for taking time to comment. Cheers!
I like Jamaican Jeems bamboo charcoal, I like old Smokey Grills, I like poor folks, I like fellas named Robert, I like beer can chicken and I like this video.
BIG LEW! [ROBERT] LOL. It turned out great for my first time. Still have some learning to do with the grill and charcoal. So far I'm liking both. Appreciate you sir.
@@PoorGuyOutdoor Here in the Gulf south Old Smokey’s are quite common place. It was a company that made buckets, pails, cans, and stove pipe. In 1953 a couple of their buckets were fashioned into a grill one as the base and the other a lid. Ten years (by 1963) later all the company made was grills. The first time I ever had beer can chicken it was circa 1992, and it was cooked on an 18” Old Smokey. I bought my first one shortly after that it was the smaller 14”.
@BigLewBBQ that's so cool! I love the story behind this company and it's a great feeling to buy quality American made products. It's hard to do nowadays.
Absolutely delicious, my brother 😋. I love these simple grills. They're so easy and tasty. The chicken looked fantastic. Have a great weekend my friend. 👍
John! My man! Got those gloves for free. Lol. A lot of people say not to use those tumble weeds. I'm like... why yhe heck not? 😕 This was a fun cook. Beer can chicken is fun! Liking the charcoal for sure. Still have some learning to do. Appreciate you my friend. ✌🏼
Bamboo charcoal roasted chicken is fantastic. Delicious and tempting. Thank you for showcasing your wonderful video sharing. Wishing you a pleasant and wonderful day. Minnie.❤❤
Gotta try new things! Excellent job Rob! You made the Jamaican charcoal and the Old Smokey shine. BTW...Excellent beer choice too! Cheers Bud and y'all have a Happy Easter!
I usually cut the whole top off of an empty can and fill it halfway with water. Then, I slice a wedge from a potato and plug the neck hole of the chicken. More steam from the can, plus the plug keeps the steam in your bird. Anyway, your's looks devine! Keep it up, my friend! Great job!
That chicken turned out great on the Old Smokey. I'm very curious about that charcoal 🤔Using less is more and no added "weird" taste to the food? Very interesting and great bird cook Rob 🙂
Right on Scott! I have to admit the chicken had a different taste to it. Could be the lack of smoke. I wasn't necessarily looking for a smoke flavor on this chicken though. Both the grill and charcoal are a lot of fun. Cooking outdoors should be fun. Appreciate you always my friend. ✌🏼👍🏼
Hey Rob😃I love that Old Smokey Grill😁NEVER waste a beer, good man😆🍺It looked liked you arrested and handcuffed that chicken🤣🚔That chicken looks most ExcellentGrear first cook on it👍🏻Happy Easter to you and The Review Crew🥚ROCK ON!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤙🏻✌🏻
Fred!!! Happy Easter to you and Joi! And whoever else ya'll love! This was a blast for me! So basic! No frills and I love it that way! Yeah bro. I had to rough up that chicken a little! 😆😆😆. We always appreciate our friend Fred! ✌🏼👍🏼🤙🏽🤘🏼
Yay! Using the new smoker. I saw those chimney thingy dos at Walmart. Jessie really hasn’t shown an interest so haven’t bothered getting one. I’ve never tried the beer chicken thing. Saw someone use a soda. Dang can’t remember if it was Dr Pepper? Or maybe it was root beer? Heck I don’t remember. Not sure who it was either lol. Neat you’re also using the organic charcoal thingys. That’s looking yummy. How long does it take. Oh yes that looks good. Never mind my question. You just said around 2 1/2 hrs. Oh man. I bet that will be great in Alfredo. Not sure I could save it. Think I’d wanna eat it right away lol. Great job showing the smoker and the charcoal.
Ha! I tell ya, once I tried it, it was very hard not to eat it. I guess the whole beer can chicken is quite debated in the BBQ community. That's why I'm not PoorGuy BBQ. Lol. I just do my thing. I know it does add quite a bit of moisture to the chicken. Even the white meat was super juicy. Thanks my friend. I love how you comment as you're watching. That means a lot.
Bamboo Charcol, Never heard of that. Isn't a whole lot on the internet about it. You would be suprised at the crap they put in some regular charcol. Nice lookin bird!
I love a good drunk chicken! This looked incredible!! Great video bud and congratulations on the Ol Smoky and charcoal!!! Did that charcoal burn like Royal Oak?
It sure did! Loving this little grill. I'm bringing it to my son's house today for a good old fashion cookout. No ham for us today. Appreciate you brother.

Bro! Can't wait! Have a blast!
Do you leave the damper on the bottom all the way open when cooking ?
It depends on what I'm cooking. Wide open if you want maximum heat. The less oxygen, the less heat.
Where did you get the beer can holder 🤔
Actually Walmart. It has a whole basket deal. If you want to just roast a chicken.
