Chrysanthemum and Bonsai Festival - Traditional Japanese Art of Chrysanthemum Kiku Ningyo

Takefu, located in Echizen city in Fukui-prefecture is one of the last remaining areas that still keeps this Kiku Ningyo tradition alive.
The chrysanthemum is a symbol of Japan, along with cherry blossoms. It’s used on the imperial family crest and printed on the cover of the Japanese passport.
This festival is always held in fall and with all of the bright colors of the chrysanthemums, there is a very cheerful and energetic vibe to the festival.
The Chrysanthemum dolls are great, but for me I personally I really enjoy seeing the chrysanthemum bonsai exhibition...

Some of those chrysanthemums are pretty cool, especially the bonsai!
The ones that I have grown to dislike are the ones that you see in Buffalo used for “cheap color” after it’s too cold for summer annuals.

I totally agree! I do like the bonsai, but around here they seem mass produced and just tossed around everywhere. It's the Home Depot way.
