I love open water swimming here at our lakes in North Carolina BUT people like Frank are hardcore. My max swim is 3 miles so watching things like this inspire me to keep going and challenge myself.
Wonderful narration! Open water swimming is far beyond the sport of swimming. This documentary shows it very well. I'm from Brazil and spent some time in Scotland a couple of decades ago. I think it's time to plan a return, now with my kids and wife. Great land. Great people. Although I love open water swimming, by no chance my return to Scoltland would have to do with any kind of open water swimming cross. Just surfing there for a couple of hours with a wetsuit was extremely freezing... Congratulations Frank and all involved in the Pentland Firth project, especially his wife. Frank Chalmers, in a sense, for what you've already done, you really do not need to reach Duncansby Head any longer. You've already made it mate!
Wonderful program. I have watched this a couple of times now. I agree with the other comments, the swim is inspiring alone but the poignancy of his relationship with Ros and the overall vibe of the program is very special.
Wow Frank, you're beyond amazing, what an inspiration. Anybody who says "whats an Orca look like" is the man! Man you can chop water like a monster, I'm guessing your animal spirit is a seal? I dig your nose for adventure & your ability to get in the zone. This makes my 1hr pool look like child's play, seriously, thanks for the inspiration Frank.
dear Frank, you are one of the 7 world wanders!! illuminating inspiring simply a true soul, thank you for sharing your life experience. You are truly an incredible man and so your wife is.
Very nice documentary, music and scenery are also lovely. What an inspiring man. 31.11 to 33.35 is magical and so poignant.: the swimming filming, the captain smilingthe music and Ros's beautiful words and support, what a wonderful woman.
If i can say, and i hope she sees this, that is the greatest wife I've ever seen in my life. I hope that i find a woman who supports, motivates, and loves me as much as she loves him. Many dream of finding a love like that. This is a blessed man, with a blessed life. Good job, Sir. Good job.
i went with my friend to rhil hoping to spend a week there fishing and walking the beach...one day i said i want to swim in the sea.....ive done it before in abersyworth but the first i was pushed because my friend droppped the bucket in the sea(after standing up a huge wave hit me and i thought i was dead lol).....so i got my trunks on and walked to the beach....i took a few steps in the water and nearly screamed...it was SO cold...i did this threee or four times...evantually i got tired of bieng called a chicken and coward and ran into the sea(cutting my foot open in the process) as soon as it was up to my chest i started to swim i swam for about a minute before i started getting really tired(because of the cold)...i then tried a second time and swam for a good 3 minutes...then i realised i couldnt feel my balls or feet or hands..this scared the crap out of me and i immediatley swam back....Im 17 and weigh about nine stone so im very skiiny but also i have quite a bit of muscle(doing a lot of sports) i was shivering for about 15 minutes....for him to do this blows my mind...i only probably swam about 40 to 50 metres out and got scared i would die...i have a lot of respect for this man
lockodonis well at least i got one to tell other than my moms a druggy and my dad comes homes an hits me with it, and i cry in the shower..... which is probably you right

A great documentary covering you both on a inspirational journey. Well done 👍 I do hope you are both still swimming?

Brilliant effort, completed it in my mind! Those currents aren't letting any swimmer across there, unless conditions are perfect!
If it had subtitles, even in english, it would jump from "really great" to "awesome" video
Amazing and a beautiful portrayal of your love of wild water & determination. Also loved Ros' role. Keep on!
Really wonderful, inspiring documentation...loved every second of it...
Excellent documentary - very moving. Great work guys.
so inspirational! thank you for sharing this fantastic experience and for posting;
good luck
So good! If he'd had a strobe on I wonder if he could of continued or whether that's against the rules of what you can wear.
Fascinating and inspiring beyond all imagining! What is the latest on Frank's progress?
Great video showing your effort and determination, Frank... Any thought on trying to attempt the challenge of the Pentland Firth again?
this guy is a pure BEAST!!!!!!!!
absolutely brilliant! did he ever go back?
Great great movie
What is the music at 24:45 ?
Shows what we are capable of if we focus and set our minds on something, incredible man.
