You are thinking of Achilles who was dipped in the River Styx to be made immortal everywhere except his ankle because that’s where his mother held him while she dipped him. Baldur was immortal to all things everywhere on his body with the exception of the mistletoe. I forgot why but his mother asked every living thing to not harm her son except the misletoe.
It was because mistletoe was thought to be too pure or too harmless or something like that IIRC
Depending on the version. The most common telling is that all the asgardians asked all the things not to harm Baldur. It was Loki's job to ask Mistletoe, he didn't. Then he tricked Hodr into killing Baldur, and Hel said she'd give Baldur back if every creature in the nine realms would weep for him. Loki didn't.

Yeeeees. But I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually Loki who didn't ask the mistletoe, It was just that his mother was convinced that mistletoe would never be able to harm Baldur in the first place. So Loki sharpened some mistletoe into an arrow and tricked someone into shooting it at Baldur whilst messing around with his invulnerability.

I mean....Loki being a woman (or at least female) is not something that never happened. Even in myths, Loki was the "mother" of Odin's eight-legged horse.
In myth Loki is the mother or father of hela,jormanguandr, and fenris😂

I only got into comments recently but i always found a lot of these changes messed up once i found out about them especially the spider man one (but that was my childhood being ripped from me.) i guess it worked
Tell me about it. I can't stand Quesada and what he did to Marvel. "Hey, let's reset everything." Eff that. I like my comics to move forward, the characters evolving, changing, and growing. Spider-Man was fine as he was, organic webbing, married, etc.
@@XXMatt0040XX well in fairness to Quesada he came in at the worst time for Marvel as they were in the comic bust so he did have to “shake things up” and personally I don’t mind change. But change for the sake of it or soft reboots just get on my nerves. The idea that Peter had to have his marriage destroyed because readers can’t relate to a married guy was and still is ridiculous. People grow up with characters so it becomes more interesting that they grow up with us. Killing off mutants was literally due to making stories more concise but to carry on trying to kill off X-Men and FF comics because a film studios has the film rights to the characters was just wrong and wasted years of storytelling. Honestly marvel comics (not the MCU) has for me been on an incline in story and characters for the past 5 years but as a reader the 00’s-till about 2015 were a rough time.
Now I just wish they didn’t do annual events, crossovers used to be fun and exciting now you get 2-3 every year or so and most are boring and unimaginative.
2000 - 2015 is one of my favorite eras of Marvel, except for One More Day event. Fortunately it's been fixed recently.
@@Wezt334 yeah If we are ordering stuff if like them to give things time to breathe. We got spider-verse and the batman who laughs and 2 or 3 years later we get them back again in stories that sorta invalidate the older story.

Wrong mythology, you’re thinking of achilles and the river styx. Balder is invulnerable because freya with her magic made a oath with all objects, animals, people, and elements. They are not allowed to hurt him, kill him, etc. Except that she forgot to make the oath with mistletoe. And Loki used it to kill Balder.

Rob, I'm sorry but you made my myth senses tingle a bit. When it comes to baldur's myth irl it's the most hilarious thing you'll ever find (like most of the myths norse mythology) , also you confused baldur with Achilles (Achilles was bathed in the river styx up to his ankle to make him nigh invincible save for his ankle.) Anyway so the myth goes that when baldur was born freya went around all the realms asking literally everything in existence (plants, water, and air included, yes air) not to ever harm baldur except she forgot mistletoe or mistletoe told her to screw off which loki later finds out and kills baldur with a spear made from mistletoe which then leads to his imprisonment beneath a venomous snake.

Actually the water thing was Achilles and the river Styx. Baldr's case was that Freya went unto all things in creation and made them swear to never harm baldr, but she forgot the yew plant. Loki learned this, and challenged the blind god Hodir to throw a spear, (made of yew), but didn't realize he was throwing it at baldr.
