Technically a tip isn't legally required, but socially expected. If you don't have enough money to tip, you don't have money to eat out (in America).

The driver should have simply turned down the call because the tip is listed before the driver accepts or turns down the call. He could have refused the call and waited for the next offer.

So based on what i read online it says this “Yes, DoorDash allows customers to adjust or add a tip to a completed order within 30 days by contacting support. Customers can also receive refunds for tips, fees, or the original order value on eligible orders. Refunds are applied to the customer's next invoice” So there’s an extra step for customers . It says it can’t be done in the app . I think the loophole to faster service may be that they tip a lot , then receive the food and request refund .

Honestly, I think the "service industry" has become overly entitled. As a customer, I fail to understand haw I can fairly evaluate the quality of a service performed before the service even begins. Let's not forget that a standard tip for excellent service used to be 10%, now 20% or more is demanded for any service. If you want a tip, try earning it with quality service.

Why accept to pick up the order, waste time and fuel to just throw it on the ground? A better use of time and money is just to leave the order. And if your money is low, why the hell order door dash? This tip thing is insane. I been dashing before tipping was an option. DD takes good care of you. They even reimburse mileage so essentially a tip is based on your service. You can see the amount you’re going to get before you accept it too. Folks be looking for a problem.
One thing is the more u tip the better dasher u will get assigned. if u dont mind the risk of a first day trash dasher who can mess with you food and drinks, tip a bit and get a dasher who cares and will make sure your food is hot and un tampered. thats how dashers get orders and u choose the quailty of dasher by tipping thats how the system works
It’s not always the drivers fault most of the time it’s the food may not be ready there could be traffic I’m here in southern cali in Long Beach. So be patient if your not go get your own food problem solved. And you need to tip!! Period. People getting way too comfortable and entitled of when their food should be delivered half the time customers won’t even respond when you contact them for a gate code you must not really want your food then. Had a lady didn’t come down after 2 attempts so I left because I was double parked not risking getting my car towed
Go get your own food. DoorDash only pays the driver 2 dollars to deliver orders. Dashers are working for money. Not as a charity service. DoorDash is a luxury. If you can’t afford the luxury then don’t use their service. Agree dasher should have not destroyed the order.
