in brief: The video is by Ayan, an American polyglot who speaks seven languages: English, Hindi, Russian, Spanish, French, Italian, and German. He has learned four of these languages in the past four years. The video is part of a series he does every year to track his progress and to inspire others to learn new languages. In the video, Ayan speaks in each of the seven languages he knows. For each language, he provides a brief explanation of why or how he started learning it and his current level of proficiency. He starts with English, explaining that it's his first language, his best language, and the one he uses daily for communication with friends and family. After speaking in all seven languages, Ayan expresses hope that the video will motivate viewers to continue learning their own languages or to pick up a new one. He concludes by asking viewers to like, share, comment on the video, and subscribe to his channel for future videos.

Realistically what's the limit of how many people can tend to hold in their head at once on fully fluent, fully functioning level at the same time? I would think after awhile it would get pretty hard to retain optimum usability beyond a certain number of languages...
It would depend on how often they use their languages and in what capacity, but eventually without consistent use and practice, one would be unlikely to retain fluency in more than 3-4 languages. That’s just speaking from my experience and opinion on the matter.

I disagree. Many polyglots I've seen are great in at least one of their languages. Further, it depends on their goals. Many people, like myself, love languages, love traveling, and love talking to people in their language while learning about their culture. Suomen kieli - varsinkin puhekieli on niin hankalaa ja erilaista kirjakieleen verrattuna, ettei sitä noin vaan opita mistään kirjoista, suomenkielisistä tv-ohjelmista, tms kielikylpymetodeilla (ellei sitten oikeasti juttele perisuomalaisen kanssa vuosikausia). Melko varma, että kuka tahansa itseriittoinen ns. monikieliosaaja tulee olemaan todellisissa vaikeuksissa tämän haasteen kanssa. Tiedän, koska olen itse Suomalainen. Mutta kestäähän se kokeilla.
