After a successful season in 2023, we will not be renewing the F-16 Solo Display for 2024. Instead, we have actively initiated our transition to the F-35. As our F-16s near the end of their service life, they are being phased out. Additionally, our recent involvement in training Ukrainian pilots has mobilized a significant portion of our resources. Our primary focus now is on training our fighter pilots, fulfilling our operational commitments, and transitioning to the F-35A.
We express immense gratitude for the dedication of our last F-16 demonstration pilot, Senior Captain Steven ‘Vrieske’ De Vries. Throughout the past two seasons, he has served as an exemplary ambassador for the Air Force with his « Dream Viper » performances. - Авто та транспорт

Very sad news for the European airshow scene. It was the best F-16 display ever.
It certainly was , but over more than 44 years they were good , you can see here a history of the special Belgian F-16 from 1998 till 2023 with some highlights of their displays

I always thought F16 canopies were not designed to be opened during taxing . . . . hinge upgrades??

Zeer zeker ,heel veel Respect , jammer dat we zijn display die hij voor ogen had voor 2024 nooit zullen kunnen bewonderen.
RIAT celebrates 50 years F-16. It's really strange not to see Vrieske flying there, aswell as F-16's of all the other countries that operate the type, ofcourse.
It is just like in the movie "Independence Day" . At the end when all the countries want to strike back they say ; " the Belges didn't make it ". It is sad but here it is just the same .
Hi Marc, I never realised that line is in the movie. Or did you made it up? On the other hand it is true however that for a long time the BAF did not participate with airshows, except for Belgian airshows. I never learned why. So I was happy with the recent F-16 demo's, although I missed the Dutch participants but since the RNAF and BAF work closely together that was allright.
I did'nt make it up , if you watch the movie after 1h:45' minutes the president fired Nimziki , and asked to find all the planes they can ; The next scene is in Iraqi dessert and english Pilot says :"We Lost the Belgians in the Sinai"
The Solo Belgian f-16 Solo display was very often at RIAT I'am certain from 2010 till 2023 with Mitch,Grat, Gizmo, Vador & Vrieske
Marc, but did he mean the Belgians cancelled or lost a battle or something...
its a shame but 50th anniversary of the F16 which will be great at RIAT plus the show has no sign of ending it carries on to 2030 beyond that i expect

Hi marc thats great your coming to RIAT 2024 be nice to meat you marc im camping there at kempsford camp for a week im going into the show it self on the friday only its only a 4 hour flying display i will be down right at the end i want to film zooming in close the take offs displaying and landing this year i wont be in the show sat or sun i will be filmiing the weekends 8 hour flying in the campsite plus on RIAT web it does say RIATS to 2030 mate
