Ganguly was one of the greatest stylish left hander India gifted to world cricket.His test match statistics were awesome from his debut to 2000 where he his average was over 50 and more hundreds (7) than his mate Dravid (6).After captaincy his test form deteriorated slightly but he never dropped his test average below 40 that makes him one of the 9 players in world test cricket who achieved it.After his comeback in test match in Johannesburg he scored more runs in test cricket for India till his retirement.

This is undoubtedly his one of the best inning but not "the best". Ppl should see his 87 against SA in Kanpur, 2008. That is a textbook inning on how to play spin bowling on a turner.

To the kids watching now, this innings was what turned Ganguly's Test team into a great test side and good away test side too. Ganguly brought Indian cricket out of its lowest point in 99-2000 due to Azhar Match fixing.
The century from the captain leading from the front that starts a dream test series of India in 2003-04 .. after it Rahul Dravid in Adelaide, Sehwag in MCG and finally Sachin best 241without cover drive in Sydney.. India should have win this series.. but still it was India's best test performance in Australian soil so far that time

Had Ganguly not been Indian captain and played as a middle order batsman only, he could have easily scored 10k runs in test cricket. Captaincy took a toll in his batting as it was a very challenging time for Indian cricket. A very gifted player.

This is Dada's best test innings ever, if you look at the situation, and how it turned the series, it must be.
In those days facing aistralia itself very difficult, but dada is the man who shown the taste of win and who is real legendry captain always, one of the most succeful captains of all time. We cant forget you dada and of course sachin, sehwag, dravid, laxman, yuvi, zaheer, kumble you were given best always. Those are golden days of cricket always.

This particular knock got Ganguly out of the team and he came back as the best batsman of his team and finally forced to retire because India had younger players to fill the spot but the fact is we still don't have better no 5 than him and still we haven't found replacement of Ganguly,laxman and Kumble.

@@TrueVendetta Chappel helped Ganguly with some changes in his techniques while batting and Ganguly suggested his name for the coach after the series and as soon as Chapoel became coach he suggested Ganguly to drop himself from the team and eventually Ganguly was dropped.
