Xyston-Class Star Destroyers are also known as Sith Star Destroyer. But it is pretty easy to mistake them for Imperial models because ILM couldn't be bothered to create an entirely new ship. Making them completely red would've been cool as admittedly the Xyston's look like they came from the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars.

The Victory class doesn't get enough attention.
Cool stuff, still can't believe we have not gotten the Victory-class in live action or in the cartoons, such a cool design and would imagine the Empire built many thousands of them, probably be great for base delta zero operations with its combination of turbolasers and I would imagine some high yield concussion missiles
Missed opportunities in Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars. I mean for Revenge of the Sith they could easily have thrown a handful of Victories (plus some Carrack class cruisers, Dreadnought class cruisers ,modified Acclamators and modified Consulars) amongst the Venators in the background of the Battle of Coruscant to give the Republic fleet some diversity comparable to the CIS fleet. Most of the hard work in designing them has already been done by secondary contributors. All Lucasarts film had to do was create official models whether physical minature or digital cgi

Actually the crimson command was colored red because the hulls of the ships were made from a different metal then regular imperial warships. Due to a shortage of warship Materials in 3 aby caused by the construction of the second Death Star. An imperial admiral order kuat drive yards to use different red metal for the 100 victorys.
Daala had just about every advantage.... and she threw them all away. They keep talking in the books about how she was a genius commander that was taken note of by Tarkin while in school... and they don't show it. Even if you try and say she was blinded by rage or whatever at the loss of the empire its still not excusable. Had she bothered to get more intelligence on the state of the New Republic and come up with a better plan then: move everyone off a Star Destroyer and throw it at Coruscant... well she could have done major damage.

One factor I noticed you overlooked was that the Victory-I/II star destroyers were also much easier to crew and maintain at effective crew levels than the larger and more crew intensive ISD-I/II's. It's also why that most of any newly built vessels for the Crimson Command were Victory SD's. They simply made more sense from a economical standpoint, both on construction materials and shipyard facilities but also from a perspective of getting enough crew to effectively fly them.
How cool does a star destroyer look in red? The red alloy they were plated with was called 'Havod'. They couldn't get the usual doonium plating so used Havod instead.
_Red Dwarf theme plays oddly appropriately in the distance_
Also, I wonder if the Imperial Remnants will have _Victory_-class Star Destroyers in The Mandalorian one day. I'd like to see Thrawn commanding a big fleet in The Mandalorian.
The reason they’re painted red is to make each ship 3x as fast as the normal ones.

Its due to a superweapon called a ridiculous amount of plot armor
@@papapalps2415 you must of fast forward through all, or not read about all the lucky shots, Ewoks, Space Whales, the unbelievable incompetence of Imperial forces, obvious technical flaws, and sabatoge missions the Rebels carried out or relied upon in almost every instance, especially in Disney canon where the Empire is mostly gone in a year. Plot armor withstanding, at least the post-Endor Legends timeline made more sense.
@Papa Palps you know that the empire didn’t immediately die after palpatine and Vader died it still took a while
Darksaber was a weak storyline. If you read the author’s notes, he basically admits that the book was an extended satire of his real-life job at overwrought bureaucratic companies. It made the Empire fundamentally weak villains. Stackpole always wrote better.
I both agree and disagree with you. I agree that the execution was weak (I am really on the fence with Luke and Callista's whole relationship), but I think the general idea was quite good. Maybe not particularly insightful or brilliant, but a decent continuation of themes already present in Star Wars. Things happen too quickly to be sure, and there was lack of proportion that is present in quite a few Legends novels (not really the writers' fault as they were building the world without much guidance from George Lucas), but the general story/idea of Daala's rise to power by eliminating the current imperial warlords is solid and the idea of someone building what amounted to a new Death Star stripped down to its most basic concept isn't bad either. I also like the idea of Luke's overly simplistic and naive instructions to his newly graduated students, as it sets the ground for his clash with the New Republic/Galactic Alliance later on. However, these ideas would been better served if they were developed over perhaps three books.
@@lanebowles8170 Oh absolutely, Dalla using gas on the warlords was a good moment (again, a fantasy about gassing one’s officemates during inane board meetings), but shoddy execution is my biggest problem with Darksaber and the author. He has decent ideas, even having Luke get stuck in a near-death experience and come back to life in Jedi Academy wasn’t too bad, but his writing comes across like a third grader.
@@JohnNathanShopper Ha! Ha! I have had a fantasy like that a few times myself, not that I would ever act on it. I'm curious where you read the author's notes?

Great video Eck keep up the great work that you do. Of doing these videos that you do.
The idea of naming a something as relatively small as a Victory Class the Admiral Ackbar seems disrespectful to Ackbar.
well
victory's are more than three times longer than a Yamato class battleship
then also way more bulky relative to their length even, so practically speaking probably like 50 times larger than the largest battleship we've ever made. Maybe more.
So calling them 'relatively small' seems kinda insulting to the Victory. Bigger than a recusant, bigger than a Munificent, bigger than most freighters. Bigger than a dreadnought heavy cruiser, or a quasar fire, or an Assault Frigate. Bigger than mostly anything that isnt Imperial or Mon Calamari really.
Two people thought this should have been about 'The Grimace Command'. The purple one.
As I recall reading About the victory-class one star destroyer was mainly made for Planetary bombardment The victory Class 2 was made more for ship-to-ship combat
I like Victory-class Star Destroyers. They even look kind of cute.
Aren't the red star destroyers part of the Crimson Command?
Hi @Eckharts Ladder hope you are well.
Did you ever read The Black Fleet Crisis by Michael P. Kube-McDowell, some excellent detailed Fleet formations and battles in those books.
I’m sure you know, the Victory Class was created by West End Games based off and repurposed from earlier Ralph McQuarrie art for the Imperial Class.
The Corporate Sector and even the Hutts bought several mothballed surplus Victories when they were phased out by The Empire in favor of the ISD.
This whole concept of the Empire Fracturing into Warlords made perfect sense. Palpatine had selected his command structure so people would try to advance over the dead bodies of their superiors. This did guard against Rebellion from inside the military. Whoever try to rebel, had a dozen knives just waiting for a sigh of disloyalty pointed at his back.
Yet that also made Operation Cinder nesseasry. There was no way for palpatine to re-form a empire out of the Warlords, if he was not already at the top. Operation Cinder meanwhile selected only the 130% loyal people. Those willing to sterilize their own homeworlds, based on the words of a dead emperor, relayed through droids.
With those he could spend his time in the unknown reason, bide his time, rebuild his forces, wait for the new Republic and the Jedi to become complacent again.

I recommend you do that. 242nd time and still going.
My favourite imperial fleet :) - I'd rather have that and some Lancer-Frigates (hell: I'd trade the whole complement of Die-Fighters (Ties!) for say 40 Lancers?) then half that number but ISDs (unless: ISD-I-Class...they have point defenses, which the ISD-II the "Upgrade" lacks!)
Honestly I love anything that conforms to a star destroyer design aesthetic. Harrower, Imperial, Venator, Victory, Bellator, Mandator 3, Allegiance, Gladiator etc etc. That being said designing one without the ability to carry even a token fighter complement for perimeter defense is in my eyes a form of design "HERESY!!". The Allegiance is a beauty but I would never even authorize building them until that one point was corrected. Seeing how competently designed fighters just seem to repeatedly bloody the nose of bigger ships with impunity just cemented the need for a minimal countering force. it'd jump from a 7/10 on the cool scale to a 9/10 if it just had a bit of a hangar on it. now what ship rates a 10/10 I.M.O. is the smaller older Victory class. She had fighters, capital grade cannons , onboard ground assault complement, respectably fast hyperdrive, and a rarely seen ability on imperial warships the ability to land on planetary surfaces. the victory was the one I saw as a true jack of all trades master of none type cruiser. the fact there was a guy who made a fleet of them in red metal tickles the inner fanboy something fierce.
The Victory 1&2 may have outgunned most MC80 models and cost half as much. Capturing a ISD was virtually impossible for the Rebels but capturing, Manning and upgrading a VSD was possible. Also they could’ve bought them from the Corporate Sector.
When will you do a video on the Night Hammer? The stealth black Executor Class Star Dreadnought that was customized with expanded hangars that held thousands of TIEs and advanced automation and redundant systems that reduced crew requirement to 100,000 instead of the standard 250,000 as well as advanced modular damage control and hyperspace capable escape pods that allowed the entire 100,000 crew to escape the vessels loss to fight again.
Especially since you could make use of the model in Thrawn's Revenge.
Also minor correction, Treuten Teradoc stole command of the Crimson Command from Zsinj when they both went rogue by imprisoning Zsinj's ally Grand Moff Selit and seizing command of the fleet, this started the enmity between them.
Long have I waited for this moment....
Bro, long time no see past self
This Video feels sooo weird since you've done Videos including the Crimson Command already lol. It's very informative though, jogged my memory. Keep up the great work man.
Can you make a breakdown of the GAs rebuild/retrofitted imperial ship models? I'm not sure if they were simply modernised ISDs and VSDs or completly new flights (Anakin Solo as ISD III?)
Thrawn did use the Victories - from older Old Republic era Victories to updated versions as part of his fleets during his campaign against the Rebels.
Now had Thrawn survived Bilbringi and gained significant territories, I think he'd continue to use the Victory-class and mass produce these with newer upgrades alongside the Imperial-class as part of a new war-time production program in preparation to face the Yuuzhan Vong.
#askeck what policies and practices from each legends intergalactic government or wannabe government such as the CIS or Galactic Federation Triumvirate would you combine to make the, in your opinion, ultimate galactic government?
#AskEck Why don't you like Darksaber? It's probably my favorite Bantam one shot.
Question?
My opinion Aniken did bring balance to the force and it was not Luke or Lea. Green and Red light sabers represent, not balance, but two different extreme ideologies. Aniken mentored a padiwan that would eventually wield two white light sabers. This my friends is the balance in the force that is the future. Luke will fail teaching Grogu, because Grogu is a balance not one side or the other.
Honestly though.. why weren't ships "cloaked" in space e.g., bend the light or something around them.
I find myself arguing that the Shockwave was at least an Allegiance sized Star Destroyer. She was a bruiser.
I think the coolest part about the Crimson Command was that the fleet was built with the premise that a fleet of a lot of small ships was better than a fleet of a few large ships.
#AskEck Who is the more incompetent leader of The Galaxy? Borsk Fey'lya, or Natasi Daala?
#askeck I realize it's a rather insignificant piece of star wars lore, but maybe you could do a video on Kudar-Mubat's web, because I think it's a quite interesting creature.
If Thrawn took command of the crimson command he’d probably make crimson tie defenders
I have a Crimson Command styled Victory Star Destroyer model I custom painted for the tabletop game Star Wars Armada. I have two victories and having a red one and a grey one helps keep things easy to keep track of.
Personally think the Victory is a pretty bad ship all around. It cant really fill any role very effectively. Not enough firepower to be a good bruiser, not enough supplies and troops to control a system, not enough speed and maneuverability to be a flanker or interceptor, not enough point defense to act as a picket ship.
So these must've been upgraded to be as effective as they apparently were.
You wanna know what happend to your red Stardestroyers? Da Orks from WH40K stole them.
Oh goodness I remember this! I remember having CHILLS just thinking of that many Vics painted blood-red. Mind-blowing. Thank you for this video; brings back so many good memories.
