    I just recently discovered your steampunk videos and started checking out more of them. I found this one and the face playing with the camera was really funny. It is good NOT to take oneself too seriously. An older friend of mine once told me "If you can't laugh at yourself...You haven't taken a good look!"

      Who in his right mind could take a face like mine serious? 😁
      But it's so true, you need to be able to laugh a little with yourself. Although that's not always an easy thing to do.

      That's a tough one, got those from a thrift store that puts up shop at different events here in Belgium and France. So they are real, old and awesome! (But that doesn't help you unfortunately, sorry)

      Yes, the hat is a very important part of my outfit. Without it I would feel naked. 😁

    I see you put some effort into your costume… which looks good. But… of course a but… your button down collar is incorrect they didn’t have those, I’m not saying go so far as a collarless shirt with a button on collar but the collar tab buttons are definitely not period correct. Neither is the exposed zipper on the bag… obviously we have zippers today but they were invented until about the First World War… hidden zippers are fine but not ones showing…. Just some tips to help… but I think the overall outfit is really cool!!!

    • @CaptainGlenwell
      @CaptainGlenwell  3 роки тому +2

      I really appreciate you think my outfit is cool. But... How can something not be period correct in a fantasy world? Steampunk is not reenactment. We are not showcasing Victorian era clothing, but clothing inspired by that time period.
      If I would have to go period correct there would be a lot more that is not correct.

    • @TLDsProductions
      @TLDsProductions 3 роки тому

      Oh I get what you’re saying… but steampunk is the time period of about 1860 to 1900…. The clothes mimic that period of time as do the gadgets… in a HG Well and Jules Vern kinda way… so yes it’s fantasy meets fiction meets alternate history… so I really like your costume but those little details make it all the more better… brass buttons and all that. And can be done relatively cheap and easy… a metallic paint marker and poof plastic buttons are brass…

    • @CaptainGlenwell
      @CaptainGlenwell  3 роки тому

      I see your point. Little details that make it even better. But it still doesn't have to be period correct. Or airships and the like could not even be incorporated into the scene. We play in a future time period with it's core into the Victorian era.
      So who says zippers aren't invented in that world by then?
      Plus, I prefer to keep paint away from clothing.

    • @TLDsProductions
      @TLDsProductions 3 роки тому

      Well it goes back to if you want to be a purist… the airships and whatnot run off steam and are based on the science fiction of the Victorian era. You can reach out to others who will agree with you and others who agree with me. I’d have to send you pics of mine… but I went so far at make collarless shirts and detachable collars… at the end of the day enjoy what you’re doing I was just offering an opinion… but I’m a history buff and love the surreal blend of history and science fiction based on 19th century technology, fashion… ect. I’m going to the Steampunk festival in Hannibal Mo held in the first weekend of September… I’d buy you a beer and let knitpick my and my girlfriend’s outfits…

    • @CaptainGlenwell
      @CaptainGlenwell  3 роки тому

      Well, I'm definitely not saying you are wrong in any of your points. Just that it's not necessary to have everything period correct. And I do agree that it gives everything that extra touch. Oh and If only I lived closer by, but as I reside in Belgium I'll have to hold you on that drink and talk. 😁
