Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- An instructable of how to make steampunk dials and gauges, for a variety of projects and purposes. I've included a few hacks and pieces of advice that I hope you find useful.
Fantistic tutorial! After searching to buy old gauges finding how expensive and not really accessable they are this is a quantum leap forward for my building/creating! Great job
Awesome video! They look great. Would never have thought to use those toys. Thanks for sharing 😀
Gesso will prep plastic for painting - it preps metal, plastic, fabric and gives it "tooth" so the paint will stick. Great video - I love your Welsh accent . Thanks for this .
Gesso, I made a note, thank you!
Absolutely BRILLIANT! SO easy! Thank you!!
Nice video, and yes, those are great to use, never thought of that. I use the plastic coin boxes that coin collectors use. From Ali or Temu, and I also buy clock hands there, also in bulk, very cheap. And I always Photoshop out the hands when I download a face from google.
Hi. Great bit of information and very well presented I might add. I had the same idea but I used the little 30mm tested posts for jams and the like. Gives the gauge a bit me depth ... I can't wait until August. I went as a spectator in 2018 and absolutely loved it. I'm 58 and hopefully (if I get a ticket) this will be my first of many events 🙂
Hi Major this tutorial is exactly what I was looking for but, search as I might, I cannot find the plastic puzzles you use - any suggestions?

I thought that a scalpel was only used in the medical field or clinics, hospital ? One learns something new everyday? I never stop learning thank you so much for posting this video it will come in handy when I start my next project! Please post some more tips much appreciative!
He doesn't mean a legitimate surgical scalpel (though I can understand the confusion), in stead he's referring to a type of a very sharp, precision craft knife which would make the cutting very easy and accurate. I hope this helps.
Scalpels can be bought from eBay
Cool hacks.
so cool thanks a lot!
nice one but i want to see your jacket it looks ace
Thanks for this ^^
You can use scissors too right? Or scalpel works better?
Major Q thank you so much for the video, what are the key search words to find these toys please.
I've spent ages trying to find them .
Regards
James
Yeah me also ?
Think they are called Dexterity puzzles, however I am still not able to find them sold in packs, cheap as anything or otherwise.
I found some on EBay but I can't paste the link for you sorry. I found them search for "party bag fillers" £6 for 12 so £2 quid each
I don't want to sound dumb by asking this question but did you mention on your video "scapel"
Assenav Acire

Hi James, no I don't do furniture.
Im in the process of steampunk some of my furniture.
No closeup?!
where do you get your toys from
A toy shop.
You can probably buy them off of amazon in like packs of 10 or so, they are party bag filler toys so you can get them cheap
I know this question is a year old. But check cheap party packs at stores. Or even Dollar Stores.
What toys is he talking about ... where do I find him
At the dollar store. Thats were i find mines to build my customers dispenser. They come out pretty nice
It's pure fantasy and fiction. Don't muddy it all by comparing it to real history.
It's like any alternate timeline. Drawing lines to any non fiction tarnishes the feelings one has when playing in or even living a fantasy.
