my mother LOVED Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong. She passed away in 2006 but today is her birthday and she would have been 91 today. So glad you reacted to this song today!
I've always loved them both since I was small
Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Sarah Vaughn, and many others. That a whole other era of some of the greatest pop music ever.
Ella Fitzgerald singing and scatting How High The Moon is a classic for the rest of time. Check that out, you will be floored. What can be said about Sinatra and Armstrong? Legends beyond legends. Sinatra used his star power to make sure that black entertainers were treated equally with whites. Copied the following from Wiki for you:
Sinatra played a major role in the desegregation of Nevada hotels and casinos in the 1950s and 1960s, often stepping in to demand apologies for a racist incident and abolishing of Jim Crow policies before he would fulfill his show contract.
✌️🔥❤️
I grew up with Sinatra-type music, thanks to my wonderful mother. My junior year in college (1986) I dragged my new wave/punk music girlfriend, kicking and screaming, to see Frank Sinatra's last concert tour. Frank was 80 and his pipes weren't what they were but he destroyed the Lloyd Noble Arena, holding the crowd in the palm of his hand with singing and stories and jokes like the master performer he was. When he closed the show with "New York, New York" the crowd went bananas with applause, louder and longer than any rock concert I had attended at that same venue. My new wave/punk music girlfriend still thanks me to this day for dragging her to the show.
just subsribed because I got the chills watching your faces enjoy the greatest music yhis country..Esp when my man said"Oh my God|". I have never subscibed to any othe site before. Im 70. Thank you
Nobody will be cooler than frank singing while smoking a cigarette. Smooth and Louis what can you say his smile is infectious and pure sweetness
Sammy Davis jr. did it first . Check out Frank Sinatra rendition of "OLD MAN RIVER " of Louis Armstrong rendition of "MACK THE KNIFE ".
I'm 77 years old. These guys were my favorite singers in my day
Frank and Louis... Legends. Two of my favorites. Sammy Davis Jr does a great version of Birth of the Blues--also sang it with Frank and Dean Martin in concert.
Another great duet performance from back in the day is Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald singing Lady Is A Tramp. Sinatra made it well known that his favorite female singer was Ella Fitzgerald. They were very good friends.
Frank's favourite female singer was actually Billie Holiday. He cited her as his biggest influence. When she died, Frank went on a three-day drinking spree, weeping incessantly
and listening to "Lady In Satin". Years later, he dedicated a lovely tribute called "Lady Day" to her. It is well worth listening to.
This performance with Louie is fabulous.
Frank Sinatra was also a hell of an actor. If you get the itch, watch films like The Manchurian Candidate or From Here to Eternity, or anything he was in. I'll let others suggest songs for you. As for Louis Armstrong, you should watch the video of a duet he'd done with Dizzy Gillespie, on the song, 'Umbrella Man'. Lots of fun.
This was iconic!! A pairing of 2 masters doing their thing.
Wow. This was beautiful. Watching those two icons masterfully perform together was a treat. The talent in these two men is unbelievable. Thank you for this reaction. 🥰
Another version of this song was recorded by frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin in a Charity benefit in 1965...They was part of The Rat Pack. It would give you another version of it more of a comedy and more relax but still done by great friends. Johnny Carson was even involved in this benefitj
Armstrong was such a charming artist it’s impossible not to love him
Frank deeply admired Ella Fitzgerald for her clean phrasing.
Love Frank Sinatra & Louis is the best!!❤️
Ol' blue eyes was in his prime, voice-wise [rich & smooth] and with Pops tearing down the house, you can feel the blues coming on! This is definitely required homework for the youngsters out there acclimating them all to a certain rhythm & blues which I feel they all may be lacking!
Listen to the 1951 version Frank did solo of the birth of the blues. One of my favorite songs of all time
i love how they make space for each other to excel.
I ain't even watch this yet, but damn I'm glad you guys are doing both these 2 artists. Both are epically awesome. More more. I'm only 45yrs old, but I love me some old school stuff like this. I would keep hitting the like button a million more times right now if it was allowed.
Ohhh… I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ old school jazz. Talented scat artists? Be still my heart! I’m down with this rabbit hole.
Sinatra's pitch and phrasing and timing is effortless and perfect, like he's chewing gum.. Satch is an obvious One Of A Kind performer. But he is considered by many to be the greatest contributor to American music, especially for his improvised solos on the trumpet. He influenced many musicians on different instruments in different genres. That's Bad Ass...
GREW UP WITH THIS KIND OF TALANT ... BACK IN THE DAY
Love you two reacting to them scatting. Fanstastic
Theres a version with Dean Martin, Sammy D. Jr, Johnny Carson & Frank Sanatra. They play off each other. its so funny.
You guys need to check out Cab Calloway and two tap-dancing brothers...tremendous stuff
It's Cab Calloway and The Nicholas Bros. and it is mind blowing!!!!!!
Try reacting to Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby singing about Jazz clip from the movie 🎬 High Society(a musical remake of an excellent film The Philadelphia Story) the clip is from 1956. I believe UA-cam has it
2 musical legends. Great to see you guys reacting to great classic artists and music. Continue! Please!!!
Frank is able to tell a story with his voice, though he does use props and gestures with some of his performances as well
That was fabulous!!! So fun!! You have to do My Way and New York New York by Sinatra!!! Will blow your minds!!
Hi TNT, glad you are finally getting around to older music I love the 1925-1945 era of American music. I will suggest Jimmie Rodgers (IMO One of the 4 pillars of country music) and Louis Armstrong doing "Blue Yodel #9" from 1929.
More!
Dude is standing there smoking a cigarette singing with a voice as smooth as velvet.
🎤🎶THE VOICE 🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Portland Oregon USA 🇺🇸
I need to be in NAWLINS! 💃
"Now You Has Jazz (HD) - Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong from the film "High Society" (1956)" ua-cam.com/video/26TIfLT-1Xk/v-deo.html Another great pairing.
For another song where Louis Armstrong is having a lot of fun, check out Now you has jazz.
I LOVE this reaction and the fact that (I hope) you're choosing this rabbit hole to jump into! There is so, so much fantastic music from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and Sinatra & Louis Armstrong are best of the best - and they're still just the entry into the rabbit hole. I'd love to see you do more of these. Maybe like Louis Jordan "Choo Choo Ch'boogie" and Benny Goodman "Sing Sing Sing" (Gene Krupa on drums). And SO much more. And there's a line through from this stuff to rock and etc. Anyway, great stuff. Thank you!
You need to watch the version of this with Sammy, Dean & Carson!
What a great reaction to, two legends. Check out Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald together.
I luv his duet with Dinah shore she is wearing a red dress! Luv him
Love that you are reacting to Sinatra and America’s Song Book. Keep it up. This was when music was true
Two beautiful, magical, fantastic performers ❤️
"Yours has a littles Cosby in it". Hey, hey, hey. : )
Sinatra refused to play Vegas unless Jimmy Davis Jr could stay at the hotel he was in.
That was great ! cheers from the UK
How dare you talk about not seeing or hearing some of these greats tunes... then talk about checking out more... and saying "stay tuned..."? HOW DARE YOU!? I ain't gots patience like that damn it.
I’m excited too
exquisite - more please - great ad lib T 😎
New to the channel, checking it out, loving it! More PLZ! TNT! All good tho. Don't change too much, just add more goodies!😄
Check out Judy Garland singing “Come Rain or Come Shine” from “The Judy Garland Show”. PIZZAZZZZ!!!
Great reaction!!
Try this one Bessie Smith - St.Louis Blues (1929)
I also love the way BOB WILLS does St.Louis Blues ! Back in the day he still traveled with more horns anyway it's done well.
Loved it!
Strange to see videos with people smokin' on stage back then ! Love "Satchmo" along w/Frank singing as well as playing his trumpet so wonderful!! I think I knew what you meant T about some of the "Old Motown" groups like The Four Tops, The Temptations that had their synchronized steps with a front man. That's what I grew up on until The British Invasion...and the rest is history! Even way back then music was, and will always be to me, a great uniter with respect for one another in the art of music
This is cool !! 😀 👍
Love it
You're venturing into sacred territory...
brilliant!!!
You would enjoy "Hello Dolly" by Louie Armstrong.
That’s Jazz by Louis and Bing Crosby is awesome too
That should have been "A Kiss to biuld a Dream On"
Thankyou
Legends
There is another video like this one but with Bing Crosby & Mr. Armstrong
Great choice I have always loved Frank
Bravo
T you are definitely right about today’s not so great singers
React to St. James Infirmary by Louis. And if you can find anything really old, he tears the trumpet up.
That ever present cigarette
Listen to What a "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
2 kings.
Being a gamer the first thing that came to mind watching this was fallout 3 and listening to "A dream to build a dream on" by Louis Armstrong.
Please react to Frank's rendition of "Ol Man River"
Others have suggested Ella Fitzgerald (I love her so much, I named my daughter after her!!). She was the Queen of everything but especially scat singing. I suggest Mel Torme who was almost her equal singing scat. Here's a great example you'll love reacting to: ua-cam.com/video/L0dB00CXf0g/v-deo.html. I would suggest anything from the three albums by Ella and Louis Armstrong (Ella and Louis, Ella and Lous Again, and Porgy and Bess). --------- Some others to consider: Eddie Jefferson's "Moody's Mood for Love" (ua-cam.com/video/x_vZ8EXaxgg/v-deo.html) or "A Night in Tunisia" (ua-cam.com/video/jH8vKgiGz2c/v-deo.html), Joe Williams & Count Basie "Everyday I Have The Blues" (ua-cam.com/video/L31pDORVifQ/v-deo.html), Anita O'Day "Tea for Two" (ua-cam.com/video/WTOHZXFEO5c/v-deo.html)... Enjoy this genre!!!
Louie Armstrong's spoken intro version of What a Wonderful World, is my favorite!! ua-cam.com/video/2nGKqH26xlg/v-deo.html One thing I love about this computer age is that you young folks can visit back in time & enjoy what we had, back in the day. I'm 67 & watch tons of reaction videos for that reason!!
✌🏻❤️
Jimmy Reed see if you can find his music.
Hey my friend just to let you know I was just looking for some country music to react channels since I live in Texas and I saw the one where Marty Robbins El Paso I have another song that you guys can react to is by Johnny Cash is called Ghost Riders in the Sky it's a good song to
the weight on the generations vary?
Forgot Chicago
Now is the time to go way back to SON HOUSE, ROBERT JOHNSON ! Some of the first blues singers recorded !
You need to do Sammy Davis Jr's version of "Birth of the Blues". So much better
This was jazz
Watch some live Rat Pack. Amazing
Guess you forgot about new Tom MacDonald reactions...... *whistling*
They don't make em like that anymore.
Dean Martin
If you want the real blues look toward Mississippi delta, Memphis, and New Orleans artists.
Thank you for calling it "Early Jazz". Stop using terms like "Old School" and "Retro" and give this music some respect. If music is any good, it is timeless. and thank God no one blurted out "Ohm no, it;s in black and white" like so many do as if that would affect the performance lol
Frank simply the voice….a Legend, smoking a cigarette, singing like no other…the last great era, feminists and woke losers ruining everything….
